Urban Decay The Feminine Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

The Feminine Palette is one of three new palettes from Urban Decay for Spring. Each palette features six eyeshadows, a mini Urban Decay Primer Potion, and a 24/ Eye Pencil

The Feminine Palette is for those who cultivate a more “feminine” personality. Does that translate as hey I’m a girlie girl? Could be.

Let’s take a look at this flirty little palette and see how girly it is!

A selection of Urban Decay’s finest, feminine eyeshadows tucked into a cute little compact palette!

Travel wise you won’t find a nicer palette as this contains six rather generously sized Urban Decay Eyeshadows (0.03 oz versus the full size of 0.05, see? Generous!). The palette is a flip top affair with a full size mirror and about the size of a small compact wallet. It’ll travel nicely for a weekend trip while offering a variety of color for several looks.

Shades aren’t exactly what I pictured for the most feminine of females among us but it contains a good deal of nudes and naturals accompanined by a few more vibrant shades of color if you want to inject a little fun into your looks.

You’ll get:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero

Eyeshadows in:

  • Stray Dog
  • SWF
  • Midnight Cowboy
  • Aquarius
  • Darkhorse
  • Ecstasy

It goes without saying that Urban Decay Eyeshadows are some of the nicest I’ve had the pleasure of using and they were a particularly big deal in my youth. Shades are pigmented, blend easily, and contain a beautiful shimmery finish. Only one shade in this selection suffers from too much glitter which happens to be an HG shade of mine, Midnight Cowboy. The others all contain a very soft amount of sparkle with a more velvety finish overall.

For my look below I paired up Midnight Cowboy all over my lid and and crease and blended Stray Dog on the outer v and crease and finished with Zero on my waterline for a quick, work friendly look.

The shades included are workable and not nearly as daring as many of Urban Decay’s other shades so if you’re more for a soft focused look, these colors should do the trick!

Long time fans may be disappointed as you’re not looking at anything new or exclusive in this palette. If you own a good deal of Book of Shadow Palettes or single eyeshadow shades, well, sadly you may already own many of the colors in this particular palette. If you’re new to the brand this is a great way to step into owning a variety of colors at a lower price tag than indulging in single shade purchases.

  • Anyone new to Urban Decay who doesn’t own alot of shadows from the brand.
  • Those who want more neutral, nude shades for work related purposes or who prefer lighter, less bold shadows (this contains a good deal of softer shades with a few more vibrant ones as well).

  • Hardcore fans of Urban Decay (you’ll be slightly disappointed that you may already own several Zero Pencils and most of these shades already from other palettes released or in single pots).

Urban Decay The Feminine Palette offers an affordable option to inject some great shades of Urban Decay Eyeshadow into your makeup diet and is particularly recommended for those new to the brand. However, older fans may not enjoy this as much and will probably already own many of the shades.

The compact design is travel friendly and offers a good deal of options for more work friendly looks particularly Darkhorse, Straydog, and when used correctly, Midnight Cowboy.

I liked the palette alot but I happen to fall into the “I own everything Urban Decay puts out” group of people so many of these shades I have twice over. It makes a great addition for those new to the brand though!

Did you add it to your Spring wardrobe?

I love this look you did! You look great!! Very pretty 🙂 And um, Strawberry Shortcake?? *nudge nudge* I need your info!!

    • the Muse

Aw shucks thanks Kristy ;D Hugs! Oh gosh yes! did you invoice me!? My inbox is psychotic, I’ll email you!

  • Courtney

I love the little UD boxes like this! They’re really handy when traveling. I just wish they’d switch it up though and include a different color liner other than zero (black). With these colors I think a chocolate brown liner would’ve been better.

  • Cj

Hey Muse, Did you see the new UD tinted moisturizers?? They look amazing ;D

    • the Muse

yeah sure did CJ ;-D thank god they did away with the bloody bottle! Those were a NIGHTMARE to deal with! Ugh!

  • Perry

You look gorgeous! I love the Aquarius color in this palette. Will have to go check it out after work at Sephora.

  • Misato-san

I brought the Fun one…. this one is too natural for me (but I like the purple and Aquarius a lot)

  • Laci

I got the Feminine palette because shockingly I only had 2 of the colors (Aquarius and Darkhorse). I really didn’t need another Zero, but I was happy to see that the Dangerous and Fun palettes had different liners. I couldn’t justify buying those since I had like 5 colors in each one. LOL

  • Sara

*sigh* I love those shades…But I’ve got the BOSIII, the Vegan Palette, the little silver one that Hautelook had last time, and a couple of singles…so I’m pretty much set on the current shades. Which is a shame, since these new palettes are so perfect for travel.

For the uber fallout shades I’ve been rubbing my finger in to them, blowing off any excess sparkle, and then applying them facing down to minimize the amount of glitter left on my face at the end. :p

    • the Muse

sara be careful as the oils in your finger change the texture of the shadow, try a sponge applicator ;-D it minimizes fall out big time!

      • Sara

Oh yeah? I hadn’t thought of that. Guess that makes sense. Good thing I’ve got a few sponge applicators just sitting around.

        • the Muse

sara yeah, used to do the finger thing with the sparkle shadows from UD but it changes the texture of ’em ;-D sponge applicators def help chica!

  • Cara

YOU LOOK GORGEOUS! I love UD stuff! Note to self: tell sister to buy this for my birthday! 😀

  • Quinctia

I think the most disappointing thing is that the other two palettes that were released with this one came with something that wasn’t Zero for the eyeliner! Of course, I had more dupes in the other two, so I left with this one.

However, it was probably the only way I’d have ever tried the Eden primer. It’s way too yellow for me and I didn’t see any noticeable difference in lasting power compared to the other varieties. I’ll probably stick with my Sin.

  • Melissa

i really dont want to love these pallets because i have almost all the colors. I think I might splurge on the big pencil set tho.

  • Tigress

I’m finally back online, yay! Now if I could get my hands on this palette I’d be extra happy 😀

  • barwywojenne

this is so cute! I love it! And I think that I absolutely need it

  • rose

pretty shadows but me likey the lips– whatcha got on there muse??

like the femme idea but not the color choices. I want them to let me make one palette, if it doesn’t sell like hotcakes I’ll never complain again LOL

  • LINDARRAGNAR

oh muse thats such a cute palette!! If you saw on sephoras website one of those palettes is on sale for 16$ and I just love it!
I never thought I would actually like Urban Decay but I am in love! I really like the colours of this one and of the one you reviewed.!

temptalia reviewed this rollergirl palette which i guess will be released later this year which looks amazing!

    • the Muse
