BITE Beauty Lip Shine Review, Swatches, Photos

We ingest a ton of lip products daily. Heck, with many of them tasting so nommy how can we not sit around licking our lips and enjoying them as a little snack?

Well, it’s probably not such a great idea to go around “eating” your lipsticks and gloss but sometimes it’s unintentional as we lick our lips a dozen times a day without being really conscious of the fact. With so many harmful ingredients in the mix lord knows what ends up in our bodies!

That’s where BITE Beauty comes into play. BITE Beauty is a new innovative collection of lip products and only lip products available exclusively at Sephora that features super antioxidant resveratrol and superior color.

Resveratrol is the health-boosting component found in red wine, whose powerful antioxidant effects assist the body in the fight against free radicals. Those fun kids over at 100% Pure put it in their skincare but BITE puts it in their lip products. Each BITE Lipstick has the equivalent of five glasses of red wine it to restore and maintain youthful lips.

Think of an entire collection of lip products free of parabens made of organic shea butter, superfoods, and food-grade colors that are truly good enough to eat, it’s beauty that’s good for you!

I tried out a BITE Beauty Lip Shine this week…here are my thoughts!

A glossy, translucent lip tin made with good for you ingredients.

I admit I’m not always conscious of what goes into my makeup. Some beauty junkies are like me where as others are very strict about checking ingredients and educating themselves about a product, I admire those types!

Now as much as I want to go as organic and green friendly as I can with my makeup I am disappointed in most cases. Many products that I’ve tried that are organic forsake quality. Have you had the same problem? I know I have.

BITE Beauty didn’t leave quality behind in the making of their Lip Shines so you’re getting a full on gloss experience with a good for you formula that doesn’t compromise quality or forsake a great formula in order to make it organic.

On my first try with the Lip Shine I was a tad disappointed as it applied a tad patchy and uneven but the next day things seemed to be working just right so I think maybe my dry lips was causing a bit of an issue for application. The formula is a thicker, almost silicone-like texture that wraps around lips and hugs them. It’s doesn’t necessarily have a glossy finish but it makes up for it with a highly pigmented pay off with a touch of shine. Saffron, the shade I tried, is a true, warmer red which has a rich color pay off that will drench lips in brilliant color. The formula wears quite long so you’re looking at around a five hour wear time sans drinking and eating of course. The longer, slanted applicator picks up color wonderfully well from the tube so you can easily get an entire look completed with a single swipe as the applicator saturates well with color.

At a glance you’re looking at 0.12 oz for $20. This isn’t the cheapest gloss option available however taking the formula into consideration and the lack of additives and other crazy ingredients this could sway your purchase.

I was disappointed in the glossy finish factor however nothing a little clear gloss on top can’t cure!

  • Those who tend to bite away lipstick or gloss (if you’re going to eat away at it, it might as well be healthy right?).
  • Those conscious of ingredients and prefer an organic range that doesn’t forsake quality to bring the option to you!

  • Those who want a super glossy, shiny finish from their gloss!

Overall, BITE Beauty Lip Shines keep the promise of providing quality lip products in a good for you formula. The color pay off and long wear time on the Lip Shine should appeal to lip gloss junkies and the organic ingredients should make those who are ingredient conscious beauty shoppers quite happy indeed.

I keep reading about Bite and want to try something, but haven’t seen them in person anywhere yet.

    Thanks for the swatchy review!

I don’t really have the problem of organic products forsaking quality in general. I don’t find that I get more duds than I get when buying non-organic, at least.

You know what organic product I really don’t dig, though? Those balms from eos. They’re cute, but I just think they’re awful, waxy lip balms. xP

    • the Muse

sadly, I wish I felt the same vijaya, organic makeup JUST doesn’t do it for me in most cases :-/ awww I like those little balms :D!

I’m so in love with these glosses, they are mega long lasting, gorgeous colors and good for my lips too ! The price is a little up there but I don’t mind, with them being so long lasting it’s worth the cost, not much reapplication needed. I love the lipsticks too !

  • Cj

Getting drunk off a lipgloss, Gotta love it! Lol Have you tried the bite vitamin lip gels?

    • the Muse

haha cj ;-D not yet I ordered them a few days ago from Sephora, awaiting their arrival eagerly, curious how they’ll be ;D!

  • Majick

I’m off to Sephora tomorrow night for their event. Since I get 15% off maybe I’ll try one of these babies. The color you selected is right up my alley. 🙂

The Tarte glosses are packed with vitamins too and I dont feel like I’m being cheated because the quality is really great.

The thing with organic, vegan or “good for you makeup” is that in a months time of getting them they start to have a really waxy smell and the consistency changes especially in hotter climates so I really have to ask myself is it worth it? Because at the end of the day instead of buying a smashbox gloss that’s 20 dlls for 3 or 4 months I buy a burts bees lip tint that cost about 10 dlls every month, is the pay off for me really worth it?????

Especially because a lot of mainstream companies are able to meet cruelty free, organic or vegan standards, so in the end I think It’s totally up to the company to realize that quality no matter what is the ultimate yardstick to competitors and consummers.
    Hugs-Wendy A.

I totally had one of these in my cart for the Sephora sale and ended up deleting it in favour of something else. Looks like I’ll have to place another order! I have such a hard time keeping lipstick and gloss on because I’m constantly at my lips, but it seems BITE might be a good solution. Thanks!

    • Majick

Luna, have you tried a stain? THe new Smashbox ones have a bit of a strange color selection but I tried the coral one (it was bright red on me – I really liked it) and went home and ate ribs. I still had color on my lips after. Granted it wasn’t as bright as when I started but that shiz stayed on.
      Good luck with whatever… 🙂

So MUSE – I got the saffron color bite lip gloss. I’ve been wearing it all day and my lips feel really hydrated and they are not chapping and peeling (happens with some glosses). The color saturation is really nice for a gloss.
I did find that it does (ever so slightly) creep into those tiny little lines around my lips. I’m going to have to keep my eye on that. I like everything else about it. I just hope I don’t have to wear a lip liner with it.
Note: THe Sephora store that I went to did not have the Bite line in the store. I had to get it online.

    • the Muse

that’s brilliant majick ;-D I’m happy to hear it. I don’t have finer lines around my lip area as of yet but I didn’t experience too much migrating thankfully as gloss tends to like to run around my face lol! thanks for updating ;D so glad you’re loving it!
