Clinique Pretty in Prints Milly for Clinique Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

Milly designer Michelle Smith brings a whimsical touch to Clinique’s Spring Collection 2011 with the Pretty in Prints Palette. You may have a tiny case of deja vu here as the Pretty in Prints Palette does so remind me of the Holiday 2010 Strawberry Fudge Palette but this time we go a bit peachy rather than pink!

The palette features four shades of shadow, blush, applicators, a how to guide, and a Milly drawstring pouch for stashing it all in!

Let’s take a look!

A collaborated palette between Milly and Clinique.

This silvery mirrored compact features a lovely floral motif so the beauty here starts from the outside. I’m quite in lust with the darling drawstring bag as well which Clinique stashes the palette into! The bag features a brown and fiery coral floral design with a drawstring closure. You can use the bag to store the palette, as a makeup bag for your lipgloss and essentials, or for a quick trip to the grocery store to tuck cash and a credit card in.

I’m always quite delighted with the palettes from Clinique as they manage to remain travel friendly but large enough that you’ll feel comfortable using the full size mirror and makeup inside.

You might be a bit convinced you don’t need the Pretty in Prints since you already own the Strawberry Fudge one but personally I considered them vastly different. Strawberry Fudge features a pink blush followed up with shades of pink and brown chocolate shadows where as Pretty in Prints has a warm peach blush with cream and golden brown shadow. This palette features four shadows of shadows versus the three included with Strawberry Fudge.

The palette is undoubtedly warm in nature so if you prefer cooler tones it might not be for you. The blush is a true shade of warm peach and the shadows include a cream (highlighter), peach (inner lid), golden brown (outer lid shade) and chocolate brown (liner). Aside from the liner shade which is matte the other shades of shadow are a velvety finish with a hint of shimmer. They blend dreamy and have lovely color pay off although they do swatch rather badly, they apply beautifully!

Part of the appeal of the palette for me was the no nonsense beauty vibe here as anyone can apply these shades easily without alot of drama plus you’re getting really pretty packaging in with the deal. A how to guide features step by step instructions for getting the look and it just makes things simple and easy to follow.

It won’t suit cooler tones in my humblest but works a treat on warmer ones!

  • Those with warmer skin tones (these shades will pop on warm skin).
  • Those wanting an easy to apply all in one palette.
  • Those who liked the Strawberry Fudge Palette (this is along the same vein).
  • Anyone who appreciates lovely packaging!

  • Cooler tones.

I think Clinique’s makeup offerings are easily overlooked on occasion however Pretty in Prints reminds me that they do a fine job creating some very friendly, easy to use makeup options! This palette creates a simple yet pretty makeup look for Spring and makes application a breeze. Overall, I thought the palette was priced at a very affordable $36 and makes a perfectly great travel friendly option or great work place makeup.

Likey lots!

I had my eye on this, but I was afraid that it was too similar to the Strawberry Fudge compact. I’m happy to know that they are different enough to own both!

when I immediately saw the pink e/s, I struck out the possibility of getting the palette but the look that you created with it looks so pretty and fresh that I’m seriously considering taking advantage of the 15%off coupon i just got in the mail from sephora 😉

    That is a gorgeous palette.
I’ve seen it at Clinique counters for a while now. Love the browns and pink mix.
I usually steer clear of shimmery eyeshadows but do sometimes wear them . Wish they made a palette with matte eyeshadows.
It looks great on you – very fresh and blooming !
