Laura Geller Double Deal Real Deal Foundation & Remedy Stick Review and Swatches

There’s something fabulous of getting two beauty products in one. It’s more bang for your buck, it’s exciting, geeky packaging, it’s multitasking beauty, it’s me sweating the little stuff…..

I can’t help myself. I just kinda dig doubling my pleasure.

The new Laura Geller Double Deal Real Deal Foundation & Remedy Stick features not only a foundation but also a primer in one cool, travel friendly stick design!

Take a peek!

Foundation and primer in a stick design with an SPF 15!

If you travel alot or just like taking the less is more route you’ll love the design of Laura Geller The Double Deal. The chubby stick is home to not one product but two and allows you to flip the stick to apply not only your primer but also your foundation in one design!

The Real Deal Remedy side of the stick is a prep for your makeup. It’ll fill pores, blur fine lines and minor imperfections, and just generally act as a prep for your makeup. I found the formula a touch drying and mattifying so I think I’ll stick to using it in the Summer when my face is considerably less drier. I’m not really sure how to describe the texture of the product, it glides on a bit roughly and patchy but can be smoothed out with fingertips and creates a nice base for makeup while remaining lightweight and comfortable. I didn’t get any itchy silicone feel from this so it did have a very soothing wear on my skin.

Flip the stick and you’ll find a cream foundation. Kinda reminds me of Benefit Playsticks, remember those? The formula isn’t particularly creamy and creeps into the realms of a mattifying cream to powder but it does wear flawlessly. My skin looks super bright with a nice natural finish after application and thankfully, although powdery, it didn’t accentuate dry areas. I can easily see this becoming more of a staple for Summer though as the glide of the foundation would prove nicer on more oily skin than my own I imagine.

Coverage is easily buildable so you can get nice, even coverage that eases dullness while concealing problem areas.

Both the foundation and primer are a touch to dry for me so I’ll be assigning this one to Summer. I absolutely loved how flawless it looked but felt it would look even better if my skin wasn’t so dry!

The product contains SPF 15 but a higher level of sun protection would be nice.

  • Those with oily skin!
  • Those who like travel friendly beauty that allows you to carry less but still have more (foundation and primer in one stick keeps things light in your makeup bag).
  • Those who want flawless, even coverage that wears well without oxidizing too quickly (this wears fresh for around five hours).

  • Those with drier skin (you may feel the glide is a bit dry on this and the powdery finish isn’t quite ideal for your skin).

I actually really liked this alot and think it’ll be a staple product for warmer weather use. The product doesn’t quite glide on as smoothly as I would like due to my drier skin which makes it an ideal pick for those with oily skin as it’ll mattify well. The foundation really brightens my skin up considerably and creates a nice flawless finish.

Quite a likey!

I’m always so skeptical about picking a foundation when there’s only a few shades available. xP

      Ditto.
The idea is nice and so far I’m liking Laura Geller but I’m way at one end of the shade spectrum.

  • Isis

I’ve yet to try LG spackles(hate silicon ones too!) or any foundation but balance and brighten, this could be a lovely way to sample them …hhmmm. I’ll have to add it to my ‘I want’ list. thanks muse:-)

    • the Muse

my pleasure isis but this isn’t spackle, this is more of a silicon primer ;-D

  • thatgurlwho

Hmm I love stick foundations as they cover up my icky skin so well, but yeah, it looks too mattyfiing for my dry skin unfortunately.

  • Makedonka

I have these from Laura’s TSV kit back .. not sure how long ago 🙂 .. I agree on the weird dense almost non-spreadable texture of the Remedy stick but heck, that foundation is just horrible! Def. not for combo skin since it just made every single thing I try to ignore (mostly successfully by staying back a foot away from the mirror 😀 ) come to the light of the day and actually accentuate it! YUCK! I passed it on to my teenage (17 y) daughter and it works fine on her young face.

    • the Muse

aw so sorry to hear it makedonka. texture is way weird but was very impressed with the finish of it, really gave my skin a brighter, flawless look ;-D! I think it’ll work best in the Summer though for me, bit powdery for use in the winter when my skin is drier ;D!

eeeeeewwww DO NOT LIKE! This looks like it would just melt right off of my face during the hot muggy months.

I did finally try ballance and brighten at my Mom’s house, and was shocked that I really liked it.

Who knows, I might turn into a Gellar girl after all!

    • the Muse

didn’t oxidize too quickly on me Jo ;-D got lucky! I LOVE bnb ;-D good stuff! I’ll convert you yet!

This makes sense to me now, lol. I saw this product on the QVC website but never saw the presentation. I did not realize that it was double ended. What a great idea!

  • Cj

I completely adore this product! A dual ended stick primer and foundation in one! Amazing ;D. Sadly my skin is getting drier and drier each day for some odd reason, So this probably won’t be good for me.

      • Cj

Nothing I can think of =\ I might be over exfoliating, I’m gonna stop using the daily one and pick up a heavier moisturizer at Ulta

        • the Muse

mmm def. limit to once a week or stop completely for a little bit. I used to do that and got flaky as hell!

          • Cj

Yeah I’ve been using a really really really mild one, it’s literally just powder and you add water too it. Still, I’m gonna stop using it and stick with a normal one once or twice a week. Hopefully that’ll help

          • the Muse

you should try a washing powder, I always find them kinda gentle exfoliating ;-D

  • Tia

Would you say that the coverage is light to medium but still buildable? I am looking for a stick with lighter/sheerer coverage. Avon had one that I loved but it has since been discontinued. I stocked up on em and now I want to try something different. I have oily skin so this may work for me if the coverage is light.

    Thanks!

    • the Muse

tia light and buildable to medium hun! 🙂 sorry for the delayed reply!
