Lorac Multiplex 3D Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

I’m typically such a lover of Lorac Palettes because their shadows are always so blissfully silky and lovely! The new Lorac Multiplex 3D Eyeshadow Palette for Spring 2011 contains six shadows with plenty of sparkle and shine but you may just be surprised at the formula!

Let’s take a peek!

A dazzling, limited-edition eyeshadow palette featuring six 3D eyeshadows infused with luminous, holographic luster.

The Multiplex 3D Eyeshadow Palette comes in Lorac’s traditional faux croc design. The palette is a midnight blue with an accent of a lighter shade of the same color. At one point I wasn’t big on the croc design but I kinda easily associated it with Lorac now so I dig it.

This is one of their smaller palettes, about the size of a credit card, a little bigger, that features a nice size mirror and the six shadows. Lorac normally goes a big bigger and longer with their palettes so this is a refreshing change. The palette design isn’t the only thing that’s brand new, the formula of the shadows is also quite new.

Normally Lorac has a thinner, silkier texture of shadow that runs towards being very velvety and smooth. The eyeshadows included in the Multiplex 3D Eyeshadow Palette contain an overspray of shimmer that doesn’t quite run through the shadow so no worries about crazy sparkle. Don’t get me wrong there is some nice shimmer here but not as much as you see on the top layer of the shades. They run smooth and very velvety but have heavier color pay off than Lorac’s standard fair. The shades have a deeper, richer pigment and come across with alot of dimension and drama when built up.

Applied dry they have an pretty sparkle and wet a liquid metal effect. I prefer dry myself and felt that these blended with other shades easier than Lorac’s normal range as I tend to end up with muddy looks sometimes with the normal range and the Multiplex Palette shades seemed to contrast beautifully and blend out well together.

I wasn’t keen on the shade line up included. You get a soft creamy beige, a copper, a MAC Duochrome dupe, silver, midnight blue, and black.

I appreciated both the gorgeous creamy beige and copper which I used in my look below but felt like I already owned plenty of true black and silver shades for a traditional smoky eye and the blue, well, it can prove a little hard to pull off for some. I guess I was kinda hoping for more Spring friendly colors and this leans towards more evening wear.

  • Anyone who wants a dramatic look for an evening look!
  • Those wanting a pigmented, easy to blend formula with a beautiful sparkle finish.
  • Those who love Lorac (you’ll love the formula on these).

  • Those who can’t quite pull off darker shades (half the palette is made up of some very dark shades).

Overall, Lorac Multiplex 3D Eyeshadow Palette is a delightful little palette with some premium shadows included. I loved the newly formulated shades and felt they blended out beautifully and played nicely together. I did wish that the shades were more Spring weather friendly as these feel a bit evening to me or best for colder weather but many will appreciate the bolder, dramatic looks that can be created with this palette.

I just swatched these today in Sephora. I really like the blue one but I agree it wasn’t springy enough for me. If it shows up on sale some time I would buy it but I don’t need it at full price.

I thought I would love this palette because of the duochrome shade, but when I swatched it, the color was muddy and awful. For some reason, it turned a really unflattering shade of brownish-red on my skin. 🙁

aw sorry to hear it chelsie, I don’t really like duochrome anyway so it was kinda no loss for me :-/

Bah, I made a Sephora order around my birthday (wanted my gift, and any time I went into Ulta, they were sold out of Jack Black lip balm), and I had it narrowed down to this and a Smashbox quad they had on promo. I’m so disappointed I didn’t pick this one. The quad is just stuff I don’t wear.

I want this so bad – for no other reason than it’s pretty. I have shades exactly like all these……but still, it’s so pretty!

I almost bought this one last year. I think it was out around Christmas? I think the colors are more geared toward the holiday parties etc. I love LORAC shadows and this is just such a pretty little palette. It’s still on my list.

I picked up another set at ULTA this week (20% off) that had 3 of the 3D shadows and a 3D lip gloss- a goldy beige, shimmery bronze/brown, and that duochrome one. THe gloss was a shimmery pinky plum. Of couse the bag that came with it was the bomb. LOL

THe duo green/brown one turns a reddish brown on me too but it works so I’m ok with that. You can see the green from different angles but it’s very suble. This particular color has been done by Two Faced (Label Whore), MAC (you mentioned), and Bare Escentuals (forget the name but it was from the Peacock Kit). TFLW is a little darker though. (guilty, I have all but the MAC)

Wish I had the commitment to do a website like yours. I love reviewing products.

I’m POSITIVE! (with Marissa Tomei’s accent from “My Cousin Vinny”) LOL I loved that movie.
I almost bought it but I had so much other stuff in my cart I just couldn’t bite. LOL I was going to get it at Sephora on Thursday night at the event but I found out they no longer carry LORAC in the store I’m going to so I’d have to pick it up online. SInce I have the little one with the 3 colors and the LORAC huge train case I think I can survive without… I think… ha ha

Oh Muse, I am like a dog with a bone. Sitting on hold with Lorac right now because I went to Sephora to try to get a date on one of the reviews of that palette and its totally GONE. Sephora CS told me it has sold out. It’s not even on the Lorac site.
I stand corrected – it is a Spring palette and it launched the 3rd week in January. (hides head in shame).
OMG – did you see the new summer stuff? AAAHHHHHH

majick you totally had for a sec I had to rethink if it was Spring or Holiday hahaha ;-D Yes ;-D I posted about it a while ago, loving Summer! AH!
