Bare Escentuals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor Review, Swatches, Photos
After reading Romeo and Juliet in 8th grade our English teacher proceeded to show us what I deemed the ultimate reenactment of the play, the 1968 film starring Olivia Hussey (SWING! Girl crush!).
I could have been deemed a geeky 13 year old because of the odd romance I had with Shakespeare but if in any way I was unsure of that love and passion for the poet it was easily erased as soon as I saw that faithful film. There are so many parts in the film that I love but Mercutio’s death always remains a scene stealer for me. John McEnery passionately shouting, “A plague on both your houses….” ah it’s the stuff of pure legend.
Speaking of plagues….I swear liquid cream lipsticks are an utter plague. They look awful on me particularly because my lips tend to be dry and cracked in the colder weather and adding liquid lipstick on top…well, it’s gross looking to say the least. Plus is it me or does liquid lipstick have a guns will travel personality going on? Because I swear I’ll put it on my lips in the morning and within 20 minutes it’ll travel from my lips to my upper lip, to my chin, and onto my cheek and let’s not forget on my teeth. It has a life of its own…like the blob! A living, breathing lipstick!
Bare Escentuals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor is a new cream liquid lipstick from the brand released for Spring. I actually purchased a kit from QVC back in November that had a shade included…..here’s some more thoughts on Pretty Amazing Lipcolor and a few swatches!
A hydrating cream lipstick with a cushiony texture, shine and fantastic staying power.
Bare Escentuals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor is somewhat of a dupe of Chanel Allure Extrait de Gloss. You’ll see the similarities here easily in both texture and application.
The formula is an extra thick, full coverage lip cream. Pigmentation is incredible and the product has a vinyl-like finish and a comfortable creamy finish. I find it looks nicest when topped with a gloss but that’s because my lips tend to dry out easily with creams so a little extra hydration is always in order.
The applicator is an interesting affair that bends and fits the contours of your lips in an incredibly suave way during application as it seems to contour and move with your lips as you apply.
I think if you generally enjoy liquid cream lipsticks you’ll find the joy here!
The shades in this post are Courage (dusky rose) and Fearless (dusky mauve).
The formula has an overall superior and very luxurious feel however if your lips are dry or your have finer lines around your lip area you might have some migration issues. It surprisingly didn’t move around my mouth too much compared to other lip creams I’ve tried and already own.
- Cream liquid lipstick lovers (it’s a given you’ll like this if you dig liquid lipsticks).
- Those looking for a super pigmented lip product.
- Those who enjoy Chanel Allure Extrait de Gloss.
- Those with drier lips.
- Older women with finer lines around their lip line (possible migrating issues and feathering may occur if you have an aging lip area).
I really believe the formula is quite luxurious compared to other products I’ve tried in the same realm. It’s thick, very creamy, and very pigmented. The effect is bold and gorgeous when done up correctly. I’m not partial to cream lip products but if you’re in the neighborhood for such a product these are not to be overlooked as they perform quite well plus the $16 price tag is very affordable.
