Borba Age Defying Super Creme SPF 100+ Review

I ran into Walgreens several days ago and came across a Borba display that had some skincare options and supplements. I don’t think the items are new however they are new to me.

I’m not sure if it’s exclusive to Walgreens or if other drugstores will carry the collection but compared to other Borba skincare products they were priced at an affordable $17.99-$19.99.

I’ve personally never tried any of Borba’s skincare in the past and I think a combination of the cheaper price tag and the promise of a whooping SPF 100+ had me running to the cash register with my booty.

Today I’ll be taking a look at the Borba Age Defying Super Creme SPF 100+.

Jump!

An anti-aging moisturizer that includes an intensely high level of SPF.

I’ve had moisturizers and SPF’s that include an SPF of 30, 40, 50, and even 80….but I’ve never actually used a product or even seen one with one that had an SPF 100+. Pretty impressive eh?

Borba Age Defying Super Creme boasts a hefty SPF of 100+ so not only does it protect your skin from the sun but also protects it from sunburn. On top of the sun protection the formula also includes an age defying blend of acai berry, elastin, flaxseed, and argan oil to quench the signs of premature aging caused by free radicals. Vitamins A, C, E, B6, B12, Niacinamide, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, and Zinc give skin a certain vitality.

For something with such a high level of SPF the texture of the moisturizer is outstanding. I felt the formula was nice and creamy but not greasy or oily as some moisturizers are known to be with SPF included. The product absorbs easily and leaves my face smooth without looking shiny or feeling heavy. The moisturizer sports a subtle berry fragrance as well which I thought was quite pleasant.

It is affordable at $19.99 however the tube is small at 1.7 oz but I appreciate the smaller size since it does expire within six months.

As many of you know it’s not necessarily how high the SPF is but how much you’re applying. SPF 30 is perfectly equate sun protection so long as you are applying enough of it particularly if you’re in the sun for longer periods of time. I do admit that I like the idea of my daily moisturizing containing a high level of SPF regardless….

The product does have separation issues so I have to shake it prior to each use to keep everything mixed up well.

  • Those with fair skin (this will protect your skin against sunburn).
  • Those seeking an affordable daily moisturizer with a high SPF.
  • Those who live in warm, sunny environments that are subjected to the sun daily.
  • Those who want a lightweight moisturizer without a heavy, greasy feel that contains SPF.

  • Doubt anyone can find fault here!

Overall, count me impressed….the level of sun protection versus the lightweight formula that doesn’t have a greasy feel or leave a pale cast to my skin is well worth it’s weight in gold. I was very impressed with the formula and felt it was one of the better moisturizers with SPF that I’ve tried in a long time. I normally apply SPF separate from my daily moisturizer but it sure is nice to not have to worry about that since this contains plenty of SPF. My skin is drier at the moment so I will say I did need a BIT more hydration but since I’ll be using this more in the Summer as a daily moisturizer it’ll probably be just right since I tend to have oilier skin in the warmer weather.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive moisturizer with a higher level of SPF I’d suggest checking this out!

Anyone try it?

Ooh, love all the skincare ingredients. But I noticed that there’s only one “+” and wish it was higher. Honestly, I wish sunscreens sold in the Western market would start listing and up their PA UVB protection level like they do in Asia, since I’m more concerned with UVB damage than UVA. But hey, at least they listed it on this one. Thanks for the review, I may have to see if I can track one down. 🙂

    • the Muse

agreed Maggie sadly not the case though :-/ Sure my pleasure hun! I figure it’s a step in the right direction for the US market!

      • Jessica

His original line did list both, and was sold at high end places. His line was then re-Vamped because the tanning loving Neiman Marcus customers were put off at how high spectrum his products were.

          • Jessica

I don’t know! Lol the thought of tanning makes my skin crawl. Of course you’re talking to a pale girl who gave up a window office due to the sun coming in

          • the Muse

ha jessica ;-D my sis is one for tanning and bronzers, etc..drives me bats!

  • Jessica

I’m currently in love with this! As of now it is a Walgreens exclusive for drugstores. I used to eye his products in Sephora but hated the “health” speel from the SA’s instead of telling me about the products they kept pushing his water crystals, etc.
I was surprised to find this in Walgreens, and even more surprised to love it as much as I do.
I also picked up his book and a few other products. I haven’t made it around to using the scrub or cleanser yet

    • the Muse

yay jessica…I wasn’t sure if it was or wasn’t exclusive to Walgreens ;-D I picked up the cleanser, spot brightener, and eye cream myself. plus Sephora’s prices were considerably higher, these are so much more affordable ;-D!

        • the Muse

ha tammie ;-D yeah they have a spot brightener too ;-D haven’t tried it as of yet though. will review after a few weeks 😀

          • Donna

I am really, really interested in getting your view on the spot brightener! Love your blog!

          • the Muse

aw thanks donna! def, I’m testing now!

  • Jessica

For the drugstore market it’s Walgreens exclusive. I’ve been eyeing his products for six or seven years but the original line was out of my price range, and then after the revamp I sort of lost interest, then sephora was trying to push the water instead of products so I held out until seeing it in Walgreens.

    • the Muse

i was curious if it was walgreens only jessica, thanks for confirming ;-D I never tried the waters tbh…I call gimmicky though :-/

  • Jessica

They are gimmicky but he created them for clients who weren’t getting enough vitamin c, etc in their diets.
My dermatologist recommended I use those emergen-c things or another 1000mg vitamin c supplement daily and now I notice a difference when I skip. But yeah, his waters/supplements aren’t anything you can’t get from other products (vita coco, Odwalla, naked juices) and drugstore supplements for much cheaper

    • the Muse

i thought so ;-D thanks for confirming that! I just take v. C supplements daily, easier than having to worry about expensive waters :D!

  • Kayvid

Could you please list out the Active Ingredients on this one? I want to calculate it’s PPD. Thanks!

  • JoElla

It’s so hard to find a good SPF for the face. Everything seems to either be too oily or shiny or break me out. And for that price, worthy of a shot.

Sometimes Walgreens has a % off sale for this line. And he used to sell goodies on QVC. I hear his eye cream is really good as well.

    • the Muse

same same same jo! same! ;-D I find spf’s very greasy, oily, or I get a crop of smaller pimples on my lower jawline when using them :-/ I purchased the eye cream they had curious to see how it works!

  • Biba

Borba means fight in our (Slovenian) language. So this must be really be efective 😉

  • Leah

I want to try this! I have Neutrogena’s Liquid Moisturizer and regular moisturizer w/ SPF 50, but its a bit too thick and “sunblocky” for my taste…

Although I LOVE Olay’s moisturizer with SPF 30.

I find that anything over SPF 30 seems to have that sunblock trait…so can’t wait to try this, especially since it smells like berries!

    • the Muse

i have that too leah and it’s very greasy 🙁 I use it but hate using it ;-D!

  • Coral

Ooo, that looks awesome! I was just thinking I needed a better moisturizer. My skin seems more parched now that it’s getting warmer than in winter. On top of that, going on a vacation soon in the sun, I’ll need something hefty since I burn like crazy!

  • Cara

I first heard of Borba because I tried their supplements (in gummi bear form)… needless to say, I’m a big fan!

  • Soo

AHH! I’m so excited. I saw the picture and the name of the post and thought it’d be wayy out of my price range! OMG, I need to find a Walgreens ASAP

    • the Muse

ha soo ;-D glad to see you so hyped, hope you locate it qucik!

  • The Honeyroom

I just saw the product in walgreens today and I was very tempted to try it out, I think i will it sounds really good for the price!
