Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment Review, Swatches, Photos

I has ear worm today!

I can’t stop listening to Joe Cheng sing, seriously, go ahead listen to it…once he gets to his Engrish part and starts in with the melody I’m gone…”I love what I love, I hate what I hate…”

At this part I’m done because not only is the song so totally cute but his Engrish makes me swoon.

Which brings me to my VERY favorite Engrish video of all time, the SS501 Engrish Lesson…there’s just something about cute Asian boys struggling with the English language that melts my heart.

Ahhh it’s the little stuff in life that makes me smile.

Anyway….now that we are done with our Engrish Lesson today have you checked on the new Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15? It’s the 4th variation of Fresh’s very popular lip balm in a nude shade!

Let’s peep it shall we?

A warn nude lip balm from Fresh.

Currently, I am in debates whether the name “honey” refers to the shade of the balm or the actual flavor. As you may already know the balms normally have a sugary lemon flavor but this actually has a very slightly honey-ish (kinda perfume-like) taste with sugar and a hint of lemon. Don’t quote me, I have a bit of a cold and my taste buds aren’t spot on but I do believe the taste is utterly different from the other three balms I own from the brand and has a bit of a honey-ish thing going on here. I thought it deserved a mention since I really love the lemon sugar taste of the balm and was a little let down that I didn’t like this as much.

Aside from that I’d definitely add Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment to your stash if you generally enjoy the balms they have done in the past and already own them or if you’re just looking for that my lips but better kinda look for Summer.

The shade is a warm dusky peachy rose with alot of brown in it. On my lips I get a warm shade of dusky peach but the shade will vary depending on how pigmented your lips are or aren’t. I think it could have proved nicer with a bit more pink and less brown.

Overall, it contains a nice dash of natural pigment that will enhance your natural lip color and sports a lightweight moisturizing formula. The formula is a traditional balm-y texture without alot of shine or gloss to the finish but just the right amount of moisture to make lips feel comfortably hydrated.

I’ve said it in the past and I’ll say it again I really love the screw top design of the packaging. The top twists on and off easily. I find this method is great as I don’t bump the balm against the top and take a chunk out of it because of a clumsy cap.

I SPF myself to death in the Summer but I honestly could care less about it on a lip product but for those who seek sun protection this does sport SPF 15.

Nothing to not love here unless you aren’t keen on dishing out $22.50 on a lip balm.

  • Those who love Fresh’s Lip Balm Collection and always wished for a nude shade.
  • Those who want a lightweight, moisturizing lip balm with a hint of color and sun protection.

  • Those who aren’t keen on paying over $20 for a lip balm.

Overall, Fresh fans will love this one. The color should be universally flattering and it’s just what the collection needed as the other shades may be too bright or bold for some (rose and plum colors). This fits into a more natural finish and will be easily loved by those who like such a shade.

I liked it alot and thought it was fair superior than the Sugar Plum release which I personally disliked when it came out.

Anyone haul it?

It’s available now at Sephora.

I may just want to stick with my Pallidio tinted lip balm for 3 bucks instead. I need to stay out of Sephora to keep that in check, though…

    • Tammie

Not to tempt you but I have Palladio tinted lip balms and they are nothing alike–you need both >:D

  • DivineMsN

I am so getting this. I have on of their other lips balms and I love it. Thanks for pointing this out 🙂

  • shirley

i TOTALLY agree with you on the smell/taste of the sugar honey throwing me off because it’s so different from the smell/taste of my usual sugar rose!

    • the Muse

shirley…it’s not unpleasant but not quite pleasant either right? I dunno…I don’t think I like it..!? ;-D I def prefer the sugary lemon!

      • Tracy

I have the rose one and really want this nude color ! I’m curious about the taste being different… I liked the other one, even though my friend finds it smells like bathroom cleaning product !!

        • the Muse

hey tracy…! It kinda has a floral honey-ish taste hun ;-D aw no way, I love the rose one ;-D! it tastes/smells so fab haha!

  • Larie

I’ve never tried any of their balms, but this one will prolly make me look like a zombie o_O. I agree, too much brown for pale people.

    • the Muse

larie has a rather nice bit of peach to it so don’t write it off completely chica ;D!

  • Tammie

I have Plum and Rose so I might consider this, however I haven’t been using them much lately for some reason! I’ll try and put them back in my rotation, and if I use them a lot I’ll probably pick up Honey. Although they do get really melty in the summer so I dunno (not that my purse is in the heat much though…).

    • the Muse

ah I try to avoid carrying them tammie as they do indeed get melt-y in the Summer :-/

      • Tammie

Ha! That’s a good idea to not carry it…I didn’t even consider it. I can just leave them on my desk at work 😀

        • the Muse

that’s what I do tammie ;-D stick them in my drawer and leave them there b/c they def melt a fair bit particularly when my car has been in the sun all day and it’s super hot before the AC kicks in!

  • suki

hubba hubba…ss501 and joe cheng! love them both >_> and iswak is the best t-drama!! x

    • the Muse

ha suki! ;-D agreeddddd! ss501 doing to entire Engrish thing melts my heart…..SWOON!

  • MC

Defiantly will haul it. I love the other 2 and I think this shade is a nice one to wear in the summer when I am tanner lol. I love Fresh balms. I made the switch recently and my lips never looked better.

  • M

Have to agree with you. More pink and less brown in the shade would be much more flattering! My fave is still the Sugar Rose one. The plum was…. meh.

I am more of a Big Bang fan rather than SS501. And Big Bang are coming to Singapore for a concert in July. Eeeeks!

    • the Muse

I was MEH on the plum too! you aren’t along M. Big Bang is actually fab, I’m bias b/c of hyun joong fan girl ;D! are you going?!?! take pics and videos and email them to me! :D!

      • M

I am bracing myself for the madness that is getting tickets for the concert. Sales start in a hr. Will let you know if I managed to get tickets! More than happy to share the Big Bang joy. And Rain (getting tickets for the manimal’s concert was an online drama by itself, LOL).

        • the Muse

I can imagine M. I’m so jealous! ;-D I’d kill to see Rain live!

  • Kat

The supporting actor Jiro Wang is actually kind of… even more popular than Joe Cheng now, you should check some of his stuff out.

    • the Muse

hey kat, I’m not really a big fan of Jiro Wang ;-D I did like Rolling Love though ;D!

  • Aimee Pan

I already picked this up and I love it!

I am from Taiwan and it’s embarrassing how bad these dramas can get. I think Jiro is a cutie though.

I’m watching more J-dramas lately, and of course rewatching every Who ep like 20 times every week.

    • the Muse

you don’t live in Taiwan do you Aimee? I’m a complete teenager when it comes to dramas, totally turn into a fan girl ;-D They are my guilty pleasure. Jiro’s cute but I like Joe better ;-D I try to get into J-dramas but they don’t have the cute feel of k and t-dramas. LOL!!!!!!! this week’s eppy proves to be good, Lily Cole is guest starring ;D!

  • Melissa

I wish my sephora’s would hurry up and get this in so i can sniff it. I almost ordered it but since we are at 95-100 now I can’t risk anything melting in shipment. Now that I hear its not the traditional flavor, I’m not sure I will like it. I have all 3 and one is always in my purse. Usually the rose one. I like them and love he scent so we shall see how I feel about honey.

  • Janine

I LOVE the plum, and the original. I love honey, but not honey flavored cosmetics. Good thing I gave the new UD lip treatment a sniff before buying… Peeeyew!! Do not want! This color looks beautiful, but I’m gonna skip it.

    • the Muse

is it bad janine? I got a gloss but haven’t tried yet!

  • chichi

oh muse we like the same SS501 video. I melted when I firts saw it.

  • Strawberry Cube

I’m going to admit, I totally squealed out loud when I saw that video. Joe Cheng! _>;; ]

Hmm, that lip treatment looks interesting. I’ve been thinking about trying it out!

      • Strawberry Cube

Whoa. I just realized that half my comment didn’t show up because of the brackets. I did not know it would do that. D:

It wasn’t anything important anyway, I was just fangirling about Taiwanese dramas and how much I love them. XD

        • the Muse

oh repost strawberry I’m always up for fangirl moments on dramas ;_D!

          • Strawberry Cube

Ahaha yay! I have found a fellow fan! \^o^/

But yea, like I (was trying to) said, T-dramas are pretty much all I watch. xD;; They’re my favorites. I just finished Summer’s Desire, Gloomy Salad Days, and It Started With a Kiss. I’m halfway through They Kiss Again and I have a sudden urge to rewatch my old favorites, i.e. Fated to Love You, Black and White, Prince Turns to Frog, etc.

Who are your favorite actors/actresses? =O

          • the Muse

hey strawberry sorry for the delayed reply! I’m more of a K-drama girl but I’m really getting into T-Dramas lately ;-D I love Lee Sun Gyun, Yoon Eun-hye, Kim Sun-ah, ugh the list is absurdly long ;-D I really love Joe Cheng now that I actually took time out to watch TKA and ISWAK, he’s darling! ;D

  • CB

How shiny would you say this is? I’m only good with a bit of a sheen but nothing that just looks like a glossy lip balm. And is it long lasting? I’m so tempted! 🙂
