What’s the dealio with makeup remover wipes that refuse to remove waterproof mascara? Is it some sort of conspiracy to drive me mad?
My fav wipes are undoubtedly MAC ones but even those have a difficult time getting off all my mascara without a hell of alot of rubbing action. The Kao Group in Japan makes a Biore Makeup Remover with oil that removes waterproof eye makeup…um, hello why can’t we have it too?
La Fresh, my kinda new fav indie brand, created Waterproof Makeup Remover Wipes for eyes and lips….
Wonder if they work?
Check it!
Waterproof makeup remover wipes for eyes and lips.
These come in a pack of 24 for $9.99 and feature a smaller size than your average wipe. I’d say they are about half the size of a traditional wipe. This could prove irritating to some if you prefer a larger wipe but I personally like the size since I’m not left with a whole bunch of extra cloth that I’m wiping my eye area with so it’s kinda the perfect size for my eyes. The wipes have a pleasant lavender herbal scent.
I used them last night on a loaded eye…shadow, waterproof mascara, eyeliner, the works…..it actually did a fairly decent job of removing almost everything I had on but it left some residue on my bottom lash line (bit of left over mascara on the lower lash liner and some eyeliner on my waterline). Although they have an oil based formula that saturates the wipes I didn’t have trippy cloudy vision after use.
The thing I didn’t like about them….
I do wish they were a little more saturated as I find they are uncomfortable to use and tug my eye a fair bit. There isn’t any glide as you remove makeup and the cloth isn’t soft enough to feel comfortable as you swipe so it’s kinda tugging alot to get your eye makeup removed.
They kinda leave my hands feeling a tad greasy after use. Not too big a deal but it’s kinda crummy if I want to pick something important up after I remove my makeup like my computer mouse or another product…as it’ll leave greasy fingerprints on the item. So I make sure to wash my hands after use.
The fragrance is pleasant but quite strong so if you’re sensitive be aware prior to use.
- Those who prefer removing their makeup with wipes and want a formulation that will remove waterproof mascara, eye makeup, and lip products.
- Those who travel alot and don’t have extra room for bottles of eye makeup remover.
- Those who aren’t keen on tugging their eye area a bit to remove makeup (if you’re scared of tugging your eye area for fear of wrinkles, can’t blame ya, you may wish to avoid as these involve a bit of tugging).
- Those sensitive to scented products.
At $9.99 for 24 wipes these are an ickle expensive and the overall performance wasn’t as great as I had hoped however they are one of the few waterproof remover wipes on the market and for that alone they remain priceless. They do the job that’s for sure however I think they either need to saturate the wipes more or invest in softer cloth so the glide is a bit more comfortable around the delicate eye area as no one wants to tug too much around this area. I do appreciate them for travel as I think it’s irritating to have to pack another bottle when I’m on holiday plus La Fresh makes them in individually wrapped packets as well for easy travel so long as you don’t mind the extra packaging.
