L’Occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Petals Eye Quartet Review, Swatches, Photos

I danced around the house and sung I feel pretty in Julie Andrew’s haughty British accent this morning. It’s that damn L’Occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Petals Eye Quartet…the shades just make me feel oh so pretty, witty, and gay! I was actually all of these things before the palette but the palette helped emphasize my sheer awesomeness….I’m kiddin’, I’m kiddin’ but seriously the palette is one of those soft, feminine little numbers that makes you feel pretty just staring at it.

The new Pivoine Flora Collection is an ode to the graceful beauty of the peony flower that sways gently in the breeze like a dainty little ballerina!

Let’s check out the palette!

A quad of soft eyeshadows enriched with softening peony extract for an “I feel pretty” Spring look!

The palette features a graceful watercolor print of a quartet of ballerina’s on the cover. The compact has a flip top design with a small ribbon pull that allows you to remove the mirror by sliding it out. How cool is that? Inside you’ll find four soft shades of shadow a dual sided applicator with a sponge tip on one end and a brush on the other.

The colors are complimentary shades of rose and pink with accents of plum. These are very soft colors that create a natural, flush of color on lids. You get a pale lilac pink, a soft beige-y brown, rose, and plum. You can contrast nicely with the two shades of pink and add definition with the beige and plum.

The shadow formula has decent color pay off but they do offer a more softer, subtle look compared to say MAC or Urban Decay. The eyeshadow texture is a silky slightly chalky combination….they apply easily but you have to be careful when blending various shades less they run together and create a single color without experiencing the contrast between shades.

For my look I simply used the two contrasting shades of pink on the inner and outer corner of my eyes and blended the plum on my lower lash line. It’s a very soft, Spring look overall so if you’re a minimal makeup girl or simply like softer colors you’ll enjoy this palette!

Proper prepping and priming is essential as the shadows do crease without a good primer to adhere too.

Blend carefully as some shades run together easily so it’s a little difficult to get definition without running the colors together sans any contrast.

  • Those who prefer minimal makeup looks!
  • Those who look best in softer colors.
  • Those who want a light, pretty Spring look!

  • Those who prefer vibrant, louder looks (these are far from bold).
  • Those who are a bit heavy handed (you need a bit of patient to blend these out careful so a lighter hand is best during application).

Overall, the L’Occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Petals Eye Quartet is a very sweet little palette. It’s a strong recommendation for those who wear lighter, minimal makeup and prefer softer looks however if you prefer brands like MAC or Urban Decay this one might not be for you. I enjoyed the overall palette and thought it was fairly easy to work with and create a look. I did need to practice some patience as the shades are difficult to get good definition from and end up running together creating a single shade without any real contrast but when applied lightly you should yield good results. The packaging is very sweet and the overall formula should be a win if you like silkier, lighter formulas.

I only wish they had released it earlier in May or towards April as the colors are very Spring but Summer is almost here so I feel like I won’t use this as much as I would if I had an earlier release on it.

Anyone try it?
