MAC Surf Baby Crushed Metallic Pigment Summer Stash Surf the Ocean Review, Swatches, Photos
MAC stacks are back! MAC Crushed Metallic Pigment Stacks were originally released with the Spring Colour Forecast.
Dare I say I haven’t made proper use out of the ones I already own? But for some reason I generally love these even though I’m not giving the ones in my stash enough love.
Let’s take a look at the two new variations released with the MAC Surf Baby Collection!
If you’d like to read my prior review on these you can click here as it’s much more detailed than the review I am doing today.
As always I really love the stackable idea of the product. Being able to tote around a few shades of my favorite pigment shades makes life so much more easier and I think the design is most excellent for travel.
The Crushed Metallic Pigment formula is a tad chunkier and flakier compared to MAC’s regular pigment range. Fall out is a big problem however if you can get passed application problems you may very well love these. Most of the shades have a metallic effect which looks incredible on eyes however they can easily be overdone as well and appear a tad too sparkly and intense. For application purposes and just because of the very pigmented formula I find that slow and steady wins the race. A little goes a long way, a lighter hand works best, and building up slowly to avoid an overly bold look is key!
The stack I was partial to was the Summer Stash which contained a really gorgeous brown bronze however Surf the Ocean contains a Golden Bronze which is ideal to pair up with this shade so interchanging the two stacks is a bonus if you buy both as the shades all seem to play together nicely.
The Summer Stash includes four jars of pigment in the following shades:
- Pink Champagne (Frost)
- White Pearl (Frost)
- Violet (Frost)
- Brown Golden Bronze (Frost)
And the Surf the Ocean collection includes these shades:
- Platinum (Frost)
- Seafoam Green (Frost)
- Golden Bronze (Frost)
- Graphite Blue (Frost)
For something that’s releasing for Summer the shades are a strange toss up depending how you look at it. For example, I’d probably avoid including a silver shade for a Summer Collection.
I generally liked both stacks and I’m glad to add them to my collection. As I mentioned before, I didn’t make as much use out of my Spring stacks but I’m thinking I should haul them out and combine them with shades in this collection for some funky Summer looks.
Application may prove a bit bitchy on these but I still think they are a great way to travel with pigments and should be loved by those who enjoy MAC’s pigment range in general. Think of these as a higher calorie product compared to the normal range with a more intense color pay off.
Messy, but likey!
Will you be hauling them?
