MAC Surf Baby Eyeshadows Review, Swatches, Photos
The MAC Surf Baby Collection will be popping up in store soon. Excited much?
I can’t say this is my favorite Summer MAC release but I will say it does definitely give a good old California, surf’s up vibe.
Here’s a look and thoughts on the shadows from the collection.
There are a total of five eyeshadows released with MAC Surf Baby most of which are very Summer friendly.
The three I tried out were Short Shorts, Surf USA, and Saffron.
Saffron is probably my favorite of the three I tried since I’m on my orange, coral, peach kick lately however I already have it in my stash since it was originally released with the Mickey Contractor Collection. However, those who missed out it’s a rather lovely coral with a soft satin formula. I always find satin formula a little hit and miss but this one applies and blends beautifully.
Short Shorts is a frost but don’t let that scare you. It applies quite nicely without looking overly glittery and makes for an excellent highbrow highlighter or on its own for a softer eye look.
Surf USA is a frosty teal but again no problems with appearing overly shimmery or applying badly. This round of frost finishes seems very low calorie and look fabulous on my lid without looking over done. The shade is more aqua than teal for me but the heavier green to it does make into a darker teal shade at best.
I’m not sure if you really need any of these. Saffron proves a lovely shade as does Surf USA. It does really depend on what your lemmings for color are this Summer. I wasn’t overly impressed with the three shades on a whole but this could simply be me experiencing a little MAC burn out woe.
Although the packaging has been debated by the masses as being a tad uneventful I find it very fitting with the theme they are going for and I remain impartial to it on a whole. I guess after you’ve seen one too many MAC Collections come and ago you start to get less and less excited.
I will say that I love MAC as much as the next person but these just didn’t quite capture my interest.
I do suggest checking them out in person as you can never tell what you might fall in love with when it comes to MAC.
MAC Surf Baby releases later this month.
