Salma Hayek Make Up Collection Nuance Cosmetics Line For CVS

Salma Hayek will be debuting a new makeup collection entitled Nuance Cosmetics at CVS shortly.

Oh noes another celebrity makeup line!

Jump!

The line is a 100 piece selection of cosmetics and skincare with a $7.99 to $19.99 price range.

Salma dispelled statements that this would be another celeb beauty disaster by explaining to a newspaper that she had taken off three years from acting to create the line (oh, that’s why we haven’t see you around?) and that it required 14 hour daily work days to create, she calls it a full time job.

I hate to write it off overly quickly without trying it but yeah, I admit that I was thinking, “oh no another sucky celebrity makeup collection…”

What do think?

Could it prove some incredibly makeup discovery?

Can you think of any celeb makeup lines that have actually succeeded in the past?

Will you buy Salma’s line?

Hmm, I won’t change my skincare since it works but we’ll have to wait and see on the makeup. However, if that is an e/s palette it looks pretty drab. Wasn’t she the face for Avon not too long ago?

    • the Muse

mmm good question…I dunno…I’m raking my head…so many avon faces come and go…could be!

    • clementine

From the label, it looks like a brow kit… Maybe there’s still hope, LOL.

      • LaurieS

{{putting on glasses}} Yep, you’re right. It says brow kit on the package!

  • Diana

How is she qualified in any way to make makeup? I just don’t buy the whole 3 year hiatuses and now magically a makeup line?! I’m not going out of my way to buy this stuff but it if it happens to cross my path I might take a stab at it. Hope that doesn’t sound hatefully , I love Salma, just not the celebreity trend of putting your face on a makeup line and claiming to have bulit it.

    • the Muse

lol diana…..naa I feel the same way. it’s so random that she has a makeup line now…and three years to create it? Mm dunno. Maybe I should hateful too lol but yeah, I’m kinda meh about celeb lines

  • Courtney

I’m going to withhold judgment until I can get a look at the ingredients in the skincare products and get some decent swatches of the makeup. Salma is gorgeous but I am also a bit wary of celebrity beauty brands.

  • Luna

I probably won’t buy a thing since I’m (a) super picky and (b) super allergic to life, but I have to say…I sorta love the packaging.

  • SJG

She should have exploited her most obvious asset and made the names of all the products boobie-themed. If you’re a celeb, I think you at least have to put a little bit of levity into anything you do aside from your main thing -realizing people are going to get on your case about it.

  • Angie

If she put 3 years into it, she must really have a stake in the line and it’s success. Actors are people too, and have interests outside of acting just like the rest of us. I wish her luck.

    • the Muse

angie def no one said she wasn’t a person ;-D mostly I have little faith in celeb fragrances and makeup ranges…but who knows could prove great!

  • Jessica

Muse, She’s a makeup junkie like us. In fact, Avon execs got annoyed when she was one of their “faces” because she wanted so much input on products. Pre-baby she had a spare bedroom she used as her makeup room. I saw pictures in one of those home magazines and went omg!
I don’t know if the products will be good or not, but Salma is definitely one of us.

    • the Muse

interesting Jessica, I don’t really follow her tbh, ha sounds like me, spare bedroom for makeup ;-D!!!!! I’m always skeptical of celeb makeup lines, normally they are awful :-/ I have no faith ;D!

I stumbled across this line while visiting my CVS. I didn’t know much about it and if I wasn’t carefully examining everything in their beauty department, I would have missed it.

The lipsticks were $10 something which is a little steep for drugstore prices for me, so I refrained from purchasing any. I did buy one of her lip glosses in Berry. It is wonderful! It is very moisturizing and not at all oily like NYX glosses. No mineral oils. I could pronounce all of the ingredients which is a plus. Her lip gloss smells fruity and has a sweet, berry taste to it. The color Berry has got good pigmentation and is a cream with no glitters or shimmer. It is that “my lip color but better” shade and I can see wearing this every day. I will definitely go back and try out her other glosses.

I would highly recommend trying her glosses. They have a nice fruity scent, not goopy at all, and have a nice taste to them which will make your lips extra kissable I think.

I would be interested in seeing swatches of the lipsticks and her blushes too. I’ll pass on the tinted moisturizers and lip gloss quads. The lip gloss quads have very unusual packaging but the packaging is too big for my makeup kit.

So, I was in CVS the other day and I am always on the prowl for a new “better” mascarra. I happened to walk past the Nuance Display and thought hum…..lets see. Little did I know I grabbed the eye lash treatment/serum. I was a little disappointed when I realized it after I got home, but decided it couldnt hurt to try it since my eyelashes are kind of short 🙂 OMG……by the third day my eye lashes were thicker and longer!!! I was so amazed, I have used it every day now since purchasing in hopes to obtain the length and fullness I desire. I plan on returning to CVS to purchase the mascarra and give it a try! Don’t knock it until you try it 😀 lol !!!

I am really wanting to try the eyeshadow quad! I like the natural colors but the pictures are really good so you can see they add subtle colors, I think the gold will probably be my favorite, not sure. Hope I win the quad , can’t wait to try. I hope my CVS has the full line right now. I am also interested in the hair products and also the mascara. I have never found a mascara that was worth staying with, have to try this one and see! Thanks for your website

I bought a shadow duo and love it- Putty is an awesome taupey matte blending color and there is another shade (name escapes me now) but it’s plum with gold flecks. Gorgeous and very neutral- if you love an out there look (who doesn’t sometimes)- this isn’t it but for every day- it’s gorgeous and wears well with primer of course. 🙂

Im looking forward to trying this collection. the packaging is amazing and from a reiew i saw online the actual product is promising. And i like that its a full range from cosmetics to skincare. And I do buy 3 years to make the line. it takes several years from developing a prototype to testing to production of cosmetics. it’s not a short process. And it’s certainly more effort to do such a broad line than some celebrities that just tag their name onto fragrances.

  • mumtaza

I tried this today! Bought a lip quad and a rose petals balm. The rose balm is fragrance-free but so full of actual rose oil that it smells so good!! And tastes good, too. I went back and bought 2 back-UPS a few hours later. I also bought concealer but haven’t tried it yet. Her lipsticks have grapeseed, jojoba, avocado oil and I don’t know what else. It seemed super high-end. I’ll prolly end up with a lot of this brand. She married that billionaire French guy. Think of it. She had endless investment capital to do this right.

    • the Muse

hey mumtaza sounds fab! haven’t tried any yet but hope to hop over after work to see if cvs has any in! ;D

  • Luwanna

I started trying the skincare products and i have seen a difference already. Plus, If what she uses makes her look the way she does at her age, then I want it.

  • Joselyn

Okay, so here’s the deal. I’ve tried every make up at CVS, and NONE compare to Nuance. The tinted moisturizer is PERFECT if you don’t want to look all cake faced. Of course, you can make any foundation look light. I’m surprised, she did a good job. And I LOVE the tinted foundation, concealer and brightener. It’s absolutely amazing. I recommend AT LEAST trying it for a few days. If you don’t like it, you can always take it back 😉

Looks like her grandmother was a cosmetologist too; sounds like they were very close too. I am so interested in trying this line, but we don’t have CVS where I live. 🙁
Not sure I want to order it. My skin is pretty picky.

  • Andrea Welford

I purchased the eye trio today at CVS and I have to say it is the best eye makeup I have ever used.

  • tina

I love her stuff she has gotten it from her grandmother recipes when she was little. I am glad someone is thinking of the person who canot afford to pay what the stars pay and made a brand that is good and affordable.

I have the strawberry lip gloss and the lip quad, which is two lipsticks and two lip glosses. They all are incredibly moisturizing and long lasting. Well pigmented as well. I really want to try a whole lot more from this line, including face care. So much of it is on clearance now at CVS so get it while you can. Glad it wasn’t the whole line being clearanced. I bought 4 lip quads for my Mom, sister, sister-in-law and my BFF. They’re that good!
