Sonia Kashuk Spring Awakenings Face Palette Review, Swatches, Photos
I used to be one of those girls that believed the perfect Summer eye look started and ended with various shades of aqua.
Sadly, I had to grow up and I can’t quite pull off aqua as well as I once could.
Nowadays I’m all about warm hues of brown and gold for Summer and various shades of softer peach, coral, and orange.
The new Sonia Kashuk Spring Awakenings Face Palette is my perfect pick for Spring/Summer looks.
Plus, dude, totally gives me Sophia kinda moments….
Let’s take a peek!
A slim line face palette featuring eyeshadows, glosses, and blush for a complete Spring or Summer look!
Just when I thought I was kinda over Sonia’s Target Palettes I get dragged right back in again! I’m absolutely in lust with this palette and think it’s a fine little deal.
It comes housed in a slimline, snap close straw designed compact..kinda resembles Sophia’s famous bag she carried everywhere doesn’t it? Flip it open and fall instantly in lust with the absurdly large mirror they included. The mirror is massive and just the trick for touch ups on the go.
The palette features four shadows, one blush, liner, and three shades of gloss. Pretty much everything you need for a nude, natural, warm look for Spring or Summer. I think it’ll travel fabulously since the compact is so sturdy and what it lacks in variety it more than makes up for in quality.
I love that they took the initiative to finally stop including too many of their shimmery shades of shadow in palettes. Granted, these are fun shades and who doesn’t like sparkle crack but fact is they are best suited to placing on top of another shade and not worn alone. In this case you only get one shimmer shade which is a dirty gold, think Urban Decay Maui Wowie. This is loosely packed and suffers some major fall out but works just right when combined with other colors in the palette.
They also include a beautifully, velvety shade of chocolate brown with golden flecks. This looks fab on it’s own but for a pop you can use the golden shimmer shade on top.
The other two shades are a muted nude and a chocolate, both are matte finishes but still blend easily and create less of a vibrant look than the above shades I mentioned. These would be more work friendly colors.
The liner include is a deep chocolate powder which can be used wet or dry.
You also get a bright coral blush plus various shades of gloss ranging from nude peach, golden bronze, and chocolate-y bronze. I was worried about the gloss/lip shades as I thought they might run hard but they are actually emollient, very soft, and glide on lovely with a nice bit of pigment to back them up.
The palette reeks work friendly but you can spice it up by adding a bit of sparkle to your looks and create a really sophisticated yet warm Summer look using these colors.
I didn’t love that it was lacking applicators as that would have made it perfectly portable sans having to lug around your own brushes. I also didn’t like having powders and creams in one place but since the gloss colors are pushed far off to the outer edge of the palette I didn’t experience any powder kick up in the shades!
- Anyone wanting a easy to tote around palette for a quickie holiday getaway!
- Those who favor nude, natural shades.
- Those with brown eyes (the colors pop on my brown eyes).
- Those who want quality makeup for less (a mere $19.99 gets this little guy home with you).
- Those who aren’t keen on powder and creams in one palette.
- Those who prefer more bolder shades of color.
Overall, I was very, very pleased with this palette and felt like it was one of the best I’ve tried from the brand in a while. I admit that the line was starting to become a bit repetitious with some of their limited edition releases but this palette took things to a new, fresh level. I think the colors are seasonal friendly so you can go with them well into the Fall without missing a beat. It’s a nice travel friendly palette if you aren’t a BIG makeup person but just want the essentials handy.
Shades on my eyes, lips, and cheeks are all products in the palette.
I liked this one, you need it.
