the Balm Frat Boy Review, Swatches, Photos
Frat Boy….
Defined as a hot college boy that plays football, and belongs to a fraternity.
Attractive?
Not to me. My taste is men runs to girly Asian boys, English men, freaky gothy guys, and geeks!
I am however attracted to the Balm’s version of a Frat Boy though! Their Frat Boy is a flush of matte pinky peach blush sans beer, football, and preppy short sleeved shirts with the collars flicked up.
I think you’ll loves it whether you’re into Frat Boys or not!
A new powder blush for Summer 2011 from the Balm!
I think part of the appeal of the Balm’s Powder Blushes are the whimsical packaging. I love vintage packaging and the Balm fills my need for brilliant packaging as well as completely wearable, quality makeup! The Frat Boy features a vintage print of a gal and her “Frat Boy” football hero after a big win! I don’t love Frat Boys but I do favor this sweet packaging.
The blush comes in a slide out cardboard case. You can slip the case off and the design is featured on the actual compact as well. It’s a flip design that’s made of heavier cardboard with a magnetic closure. Inside is a full size mirror and your blush.
I was surprised as the blush looks very uneventful in the compact. It’s a matte shade of subdued peachy apricot but applies with a gorgeous pinky, peach apricot finish with plenty of pigmentation so even tanned complexions can share the joy.
Although I’m a fond, fond fan of sparkle in my blushes I can appreciate the matte finish here which gives cheeks a healthy flush of color without looking overly done or garish. The formula is a finely milled powder that blends easily and has plenty of color pay off.
You can double team the blush as a shadow as well. It quite reminds me of the shades introduced with the Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Quad in Fair and Square that I recently reviewed.
Nothing bad here!
- Those who want a soft shade of peachy pink apricot that can applied for a delicate flush of color or with a heavier hand for a bolder dash of color!
- Those who love practical makeup with sweet packaging!
- Those who already love and enjoy the Balm powder products (you’ll love this if you already own many of the Balm’s powders already).
- Those wanting a multitasking product for eyes and cheeks!
- Those who prefer a shimmer finish to their blush (the matte blends beautifully so don’t let the lack of shimmer sway you).
As with all Balm powders I love Frat Boy! The color is new and fresh for the brand and quite different from many of the blushes I already own. It’s an excellent shade for Summer and gives a healthy flush to my cheeks. I wasn’t too keen on it as an eyeshadow but it’s a nice option that it multitasks as such. The only bad thing about the Balm is they don’t release enough powders for my taste, they should do more! But hey, maybe that’s what makes them so special as when they do have a new one it’s instantly a hit for me!
Do you need it?
