Yay or Nay: MAC Big Bounce Shadow

MAC Big Bounce Shadow releases today…

I wonder have you tried them yet? Played a bit on counter? Swatched? God forbid…did you actually spend money on them?

Curious minds…

Yay or Nayin’ on the new MAC Big Bounce Shadow?

If you missed my review you can check it out by clicking here. I’ve since played with them alot more and my main thoughts stay the same…BIG nay!

Total fail on MAC’s part if you ask my two cents.

I’ve been keeping my eyes and ears open and reading various reviews to gather thoughts about what other people think about them. I think it’s pretty much a big no for most people but I’ve actually read some raving reviews on them as well which had me aghast…really? People like these? Seriously…?

Ha but I guess to each his/her own.

I personally felt they were a nay. Sadly, they really lack something in the formula to actually make them work correctly. The theory is fabulous but the actually application is oh so sad.

Have you played with them yet?

Yay?

Nay?

Do share it!

Big no way on this. I am skipping this to do some damage on the Semi Precious collection in July! I am going to go nuts on that one!

    • Nunuiviet

I passed on this collection, the fashion flower and the surf baby as well. I’d rather keep every penny for the semi precious collection! I want the MSF , the blushes and the new brushes!

It’s crazy how varied the reviews are for these. People always seem to say “you’ll either love ’em or hate ’em” but that really seems to be the case here. But I have seen more extremely negative reviews that positive ones. I think when reviewing products you’re always hoping that it will be awesome so maybe people are unintentionally letting that bias their review. That is the only explanation i can think of. I don’t was to believe that more than half of the shadows manufactured are duds. The would be a scary lack of quality control that would probably turn me off of MAC’s products. But to be honest, I don’t see how these made it passed testing anyway…

    • the Muse

yeah jessi totes agree. I see people LOVE them hard and others who hate them harder. I was hoping for awesome but man what a let down. i dunno unless their testers have some serious skillz that I lack ha

Judging by the guru reviews alone (and I will, because there is NO WAY I’d waste my money on this) I am just completely FLOORED with the fact that MAC would release this. Did they not test it? Do they think consumers are dumb? Aside from the color range, I haven’t seen/read a single good thing about this product. I just can’t understand why they’d go ahead and release something they must have known was an awful product. (le-sigh)

Im happy they suck because now i can save money for the surf baby collection LOL!

  • breyerchic04

I’ve seen people say that if you put powder shadow over them, so that it’s sheer they last and look good. I’m not sure that’s worth it. You still need a base under these if you do that.

    • the Muse

breyer how are you, long time no speak. I felt like it was such a let down you have to use them with powder though…I’d like to be able to see some cool effects with the products and not have to worry about using products in conjunction with them.

      • LaurieS

I agree. If I’m spending that much on a product I don’t want to have to fiddle with it to make it work. I’ll be skipping these. There’s too much out there I want (and never enough money!).

        • the Muse

laurie exactly…..plus they sell them as a sheer wash of shadow…they aren’t advertised as a base product…I’d prob be happier if they said hey this is a new base product that you can wear with powder…rather than this is a sheer wash eyeshadow…I just feel let down knowing I can’t use them in either fashion

  • winni

Big NAY from me. And I don’t buy the “you just don’t know how to apply them” argument. I shouldn’t need a PhD in eyeshadow application, especially since there are so many great user-friendly products out there. So I’m with you on this one.

    • the Muse

ha winni… too true….it’s just too much drama to apply.

  • Lorraine

Thank you for being honest, Muse. I have to be honest, I am questioning the positive reviews. Some people seem that they have an active interest in lauding every single MAC product. Mac has some good stuff, but some bombs. You couldn’t pay me to purchase this.

    • the Muse

mmm lorraine I honestly question some of the raves myself as well. Some people really went overboard in their glowing reviews….

  • Edelmc

I like the idea of these but they seem like too much work. I got a couple of cream shadows from Bobbi brown instead and might look at mufe cream shadows too. As for mac, I think I will skip these and start saving for semi precious!

  • Misato-san

    I think I’ll ask for a sample of the purple one when it will hit Italy (the collection will be released next month here… instead we had Surf Baby this week… such a huge shock to me, I didn’t liked it like I was supposed to do D: ;_; ), but they are a nay for me because I read only negative reviews ;_;

  • Tina

I was excited when I heard this product was coming out but now that I’ve seen some reviews that are mostly negative I will give a NAY and not just Nay, but NAY NAY. Double Nay, how’s that?

It looks a lot like the Jane Be Pure cream/gel shadows that I always see at Rite Aid just sitting there on the shelves begging people to buy them. Poor things. No one wants them.

  • Phyrra

Big no for me. They’d not last a second on my oily lids.

  • tini

Mac really needs to just make freaking colorful paint pots! I know they can make awesome cream shadows whyyyyy these?!

When products like this come out you can tell which blogs are more trust worthy. the muse isn’t afraid to tell us when something sucks!
