Biore Cleansing Oil Review

Off topic but….

Happiness is Elvis sitting at the bus stop discussing the philosophy of life with an old Asian man in chucks. CLICK!

Thanks to Beth, BPAL Barista for posting that TwitPic, it totally made my morning!

Happiness also comes in the form of cheap as day old chips cleansing oil!

Have you tried Biore Cleansing Oil?

Jump!

A cleansing oil for removing makeup in a snap.

Our version of Biore and Japan’s version are vastly different sadly right down to the packaging. Maybe one day we’ll have a Cleansing Oil from Biore but for now it remains exclusive to the Asian market. However, the good news is that if you live in an Asian Community or you have alot of smaller Asian shops and stores around your city you’ll be able to find Biore Cleansing Oil in a snap plus it’ll set you back $7-$10 at most. If not, no worry, it’s all over the internet for around the same price!

Sweet eh?

Alot of folks aren’t particularly keen on this oil and feel like it doesn’t do a fab job of clean up and I agree in some cases but I use it on days I’m not wearing alot of makeup.

Love the purple packaging and the sweet, crunchy apple scent which isn’t overpowering but just right. The oil is thinner in consistency compared to other Cleansing Oils you may have tried such as Shu and it doesn’t quite emulsify in the same fashion as other products of its kinds but it does a pretty decent job of removing basic makeup such as BB Cream, foundation products, blush, and minor eye makeup.

Cleansing Oils do scare folks as hey, greasy oil on my face? Nooo! But no worries anyone even oily skin users can indulge as it rinses clean away. Simply pump the oil into the palms of your hands, massage onto a dry, fully loaded face of makeup and add a little water after to emulsify the oil. Continue to massage and proceed to rinse! Presto! Clean face! The oily rinses clean away.

Biore Cleansing Oil doesn’t leave my face dry or tight, it rinses easily, and doesn’t give me trippy, acid tab dropping cloudy vision either after use, always a plus as far as I am concerned.

It does suffer a bit…

When it comes to hardcore makeup. I find it does a decent job with basic makeup application but mascara and waterproof eye makeup isn’t quite cleaned up as well as if I use some of my other cleansing oils.

  • Anyone looking for a cheap, inexpensive cleansing oil!
  • Anyone who wears minimal makeup!
  • Those who hate cloudy vision after cleansing oil use.

  • Those who wear a TON of makeup (you might want to haul out the big guns for that type of makeup removal).
  • Available exclusively in the Asian market!

Overall, Biore Cleansing Oil is something that sticks around in my cabinet for quickie makeup removal. It’s inexpensive, it works fairly well on most makeup removal, and smells lovely. There are a slew of better cleansing oils available at a cheap price that will do a better job with waterproof eye makeup but for days that I’m wearing the minimal amount of makeup, Biore Cleansing Oil does the trick just fine.

Well worth a purchase for my minimal makeup girls!

Use it already?

Love it?

So depressed! I saw the headline and was super stoked that a drugstore product in America would be carrying this! Wah!

      • Jackie

lol. It’s ok! It’s great that they are releasing it in the Asian market! We’ve started getting BB Creams and other Cleansing Oils, so it’s only a matter of time before they are available at US drugstores. At least, I hope so!

I guess I’m still on the hunt for the perfect cleansing oil with a thick consistency and pleasant smell. :/

    • the Muse

philosophy all the way cj ;-D i’m loving it at the moment!

DHC’s is thick and works really well. It smells like olive oil, fyi. Sadly, you have to order it online as they do not sell it in stores

  • kharanya

It would be nice to find out the ingredients in this. I’m using the one from DHC atm but I have one from Babor on is way as well as a sample of Misshas (not looking forward to that one, it’s mineral oil based)

As a plus, skincarerx.com now stocks DHC and they offer free shipping with $49+ purchases and there are 20% sales pretty often. I’d love to find one that isn’t drying, the DHC is a bit drying on my already dry skin, so I reserve it for lazy nights.

Any suggestions ladies? Only hitch is, I don’t want a mineral oil based one.

Hada Labo gokujyun cleansing oil is made from olive oil, too, and has no mineral oil 🙂

  • Kamimono

Thanks for reviewing this! I was about to buy something like this the other day at the Korean market (Woori Market) but I decided not to buy it since I still have half of my DHC oil.

  • Qi Hua

I have been using the Biore Cleansing Oil… and I have to say that it does not really help me to remove my eye make up and infact it hurts my eyes when I do! 🙁 Not using it anymore…

Hi! There are two types of Biore Cleansing Oil from Japan. They look similar, but upon closer inspection, one kind is in a pearly pink bottle, and the one reviewed here comes in a clear lavender bottle. I find that the one in the lavender bottle does not hurt my eyes at all, but one one in pink is definitely stings my eyes. You might have the one in the pink bottle. 🙂

      • beautyjunkie

Oops! Been reading other reviews and they also say that it stings their eyes. Which leads me to conclude that this oil might have different ingredients depending on what country it was made in. Because it truly enters my eyes all the time and I don’t feel a thing.
I bought mine in Japan and all text is in Japanese (front and back)–zero english words. The ones that sting the eyes had a mix of English and Japanese characters at the back label… 🙂
So I have indeed been warned. Buy only in Japan. Haha.

  • Tweety

Thanks Muse! I actually love the Biore one! I never use it to remove eye makeup since it sucks at removing my waterproof eyeliner, but it does wonders for BB cream! Of course, I always follow up with my regular cleanser =]

    • the Muse

hey tweety agreed ;-D no go on waterproof eye makeup but decent for bb cream, etc..;-D!
