Etude House Aloha Dear Darling Tint Review, Swatches, Photos
Aloha! from humid New York.
I really wish I was saying Aloha from the deck of a fancy hotel in Hawaii with a cool drink that has a umbrella tucked up in it but sadly, this one is coming from the patio of a cafe on a humid night in New York. The ocean, the beach, little umbrellas, and lei are far away from this smog induced city.
However……
Ta da…I have Etude House Aloha Dear Darling Tint in my makeup bag therefore I am magically transported to the Korean version of Hawaii! Actually Korean Hawaii is alot nicer than regular Hawaii as the Korean version includes hotties like Hyun Joong prancing around shirtless on the beach.
Wicked super right?
Technically this is the best I can do with Hyun Joong prancing on a beach, cut me a break ok?

A limited edition selection of Etude House Dear Darling Tint available in new packaging and released for Summer 2011.
Etude House has a new Summer Collection they released called Aloha. These new lip tints are available with the collection however Dear Darling Tint isn’t a new product.
Etude House gives these the label of 4 and 5 while the main range contains shades 1 thru 3. I would like to say the shades are very similar to colors already in the general catalog so if you own Dear Darling Tint already you might want to whip them out and do a comparison because I feel like these are very similar just with different packaging.
The two “new” shades are called Aloha Real Orange and Blue Hawaii Red. Real Orange is a true orange shade where as Blue Hawaii is a plummy berry. Although both look rather loud they apply with a subtly on lips and leave behind a natural hint of color. Even Real Orange which is an unusual shade for lips still manages to look very nice particularly if you have darker skin.
The tints are meant for lips and are a gel-like formula with a runny consistency. They come with a sponge applicator for swiping on and have a pretty fair wear time of around three to four hours sans drinking or eating. They look best in my opinion when worn with gloss on top. The colors give a just bitten look to lips and are particularly nice if you have colorless lips and need a little pick me up.
I have a deep appreciation for lip stains so I totally dig ’em! They don’t dry lips out and have a nice subtle fruity taste.
As mentioned above the shades resemble colors I already own but I really wanted the special edition packaging which has the “Aloha” name on the tube however check your stash if you’re not wanting to splurge as you’ll likely notice that these colors are dupes for what you already own.
The collection is exclusive to Korea and a few Asian countries so sadly you’ll have to order online or from E-bay plus deal with airmail costs, etc…if you’re wanting them!
- Anyone who wants a lightweight splash of natural color on lips!
- Anyone with less than pigmented, colorless lips that needs a bit of color.
- Anyone who wants a lightweight stain that wears decently long for Summer.
- Those who prefer a more natural lip look!
- Those who already own shades of Dear Darling Tint (check your stash, these are dupes for colors already available in the general catalog).
- Those who aren’t keen on overseas shipping, airmail costs, and dealing with higher than retail prices.
I’m personally disappointed that the colors are so similar to shades they already have available but if you’ve never tried the product it’s a nice, lightweight stain that has a fairly good wear time with a non-drying, comfortable formula for a natural lip look! I like them well enough but wish that Etude House went for new shades for the Aloha Collection!
I got mine directly from Korea but I’ve seen them super close to retail on E-bay just beware of fakes!
Have you tried?
