Review, Swatches: Oh Why, Oh, Why Oh Did I Ever Pay Full Price for Tarina Tarantino Fashion Gem Lip Gloss?

When the Tarina Tarantino Fashion Collection originally launched I was the first person racing to plop it into my cart. I paid $19 each for the Tarina Tarantino Fashion Candy Camera and Electric Butterfly Gem Gloss.

And now there $10 bucks.

Just shoot me.

Why is my makeup life so unfair?

But hey, it’s a steal and a deal for Summer!

Jump!

A high-shine lip gloss available in five shades for $10 bucks each!

I thought I’d haul these out of the TBRP (to be reviewed pile) and let you know they are now $10 bucks at Sephora stores and online at www.Sephora.com.

Both the formula and the super cheap price tag make them a nice little budget pick for Summer.

I originally picked these up when they released for $19 each, yes, I’m kicking myself but I do think the $10 price tag is way more fairer since the shades are pretty clear all around with a bit of shimmer. I got the Electric Butterfly and Candy Cameo shades. Electric Butterfly is an orange with sparkle and Candy Cameo is a pink with sparkle but sadly both apply sheer with a hint of sparkle.

The glosses have a fruity floral fragrance that’s quite tasty and a flocked applicator for application. The applicator saturated well with color and allows product to build easily onto lips. Although toted as a super shiny finish I’d say you’re looking at lighter shiny finish with a nice bit of shimmer and sparkle. I’d say almost all five shades will apply the same exact way so you aren’t having to haul all of them since it’s pretty much a clear gloss with different shades of sparkle.

I like the lighter formula which has minimal tack and a nice smooth texture that glides on easily. I prefer using them over lipsticks or lipstains for a bit of sparkle. I think they prove a rather nice pick for Summer since they wear quite long (about four hours) without a heavy, sticky formula.

The packaging also holds a special place in my heart. Candy Cameo features a really sweet Victorian cameo sticker. It’s Tarina’s typical kawaii gothic packaging that we all know and love. I will say Electric Butterfly is creepy as hell..haha…that clown butterfly just terrifies me!

I wish they had more pigment particularly because they are described as a sheer to medium color lipgloss…!

  • Anyone looking for a comfortable, lightweight Summer lipgloss with sparkle!
  • Anyone looking for a nice base gloss for lippies or stains!
  • Anyone wanting a touch of sparkle and shine on lips!

  • Those wanting some color from their gloss (these apply sheer with colored sparkly bits).
  • Those looking for a super glossy finish from their gloss.

At $10 I recommend a purchase without a doubt. The packaging is cute, the gloss is nice for using as an overcoat on your lippies and stains, and the formula is very comfortable to wear however at the $19 price tag….well…they weren’t worth it to say the least due to the lack of pigmentation and less than shiny finish. They are a nice gloss at a budget price but I’m still kicking myself that I paid $19! I would have been happier with that tenner price tag!

Oh well!

At least I have two rather cute clear glosses for Summer wearin’ and tearin’!

At $10 bucks I recommend a purchase.

Tried ’em?

Not a bad deal, I too hate it when you buy something full price then it pops up cheaper/on sale afterwards! Blah!

I have the other lipgloss in the squeeze tube though already which is super sparkly and I almost never use it for some reason…so these are a pass for me.

ugh worst tammie so unfair ;-D I have to try those, I have two in my review pile…I love me some sparkle !;D

Yes, you have to! I love it but it’s a bit gritty which I think is why I don’t really wear it. I am the type of person who rubs their lips together a bunch.

I’ll try to bust it out on weekends though. It is really pretty~

I love the looks of that pink tube but I don’t think these have enough pigmentation for me… I’m not a big gloss girl and when I do wear a gloss, I like it to pack a punch of color.

Hi Muse, I’m wondering if the pigmentation and sparkle of this gloss is similar to Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer Lip Gloss released for the summer?

    • the Muse

naa Suzanne. Much more subtle. Bobbi’s has a good deal more glittery bits hun.
