E.L.F. Cosmetics Essential Beauty School Eyeshadow Pigment Collection Target Exclusive Review, Swatches, Photos

By Isabella Muse on July 19, 2011 3 Comments

in Back to School Beauty, Beauty on a Budget, E.L.F, Eyeshadow, Fall Collections 2011, Swatches

As you know E.L.F. Cosmetics has a selection of Target Exclusive goodies available for Back to School. If you’re on a bit of a beauty budget these are a friendly way to get some new Fall makeup without hitting your wallet too hard.

They have a selection of three E.L.F. Eyeshadow Pigments in a range of Fall colors for $3 you might want to check out if you’re a loose shadow kinda gal!

Check ’em!

A selection of three E.L.F. Eyeshadow Pigments available in a set at Target.

As far as know there is only one selection of colors with these pigment

If you’re pressed for cash and seeking little nibbles of beauty budget picks for back to school I do think that the E.L.F. Cosmetic Back to School Collection should fill the need for inexpensive makeup.

This set includes three eyeshadow pigments in a cute memo pad packaging. The colors they included are all quite Fall friendly as well.

You get:

  • Naughty Noire (shimmering pewter)
  • Golden Goddess (shimmering gold)
  • Magical Macaroon (shimmering cranberry)

The formula on these is a loose, silky powder with a shimmery finish. They blend fairly easily however proper prepping and priming is a necessary evil as I experience some fading and creasing within hours of application so be sure to start off application with a good base.

The jars these come in don’t screw tightly so be aware as the potential to screw them loosely and end up with a spill is there.

I find the shadows crease, fade, and wear poorly on their own so a proper cream base or primer is essential for the best wear quality and time.

The colors are a tad mismatched with cool versus warm in the mix. E.L.F. created the shades to be used as a lid, contour, and brow bone accent and this does work to some extent but I find the gold shade as a highlight doesn’t look very nice with the darker lid and contour shades.

Fall out is a problem but that’s the standard when it comes to any loose pigment or shadow.

  • Those looking for a few shadows but not willing to pay alot for them!

  • Those who aren’t keen on fall out woe.
  • Those with oily lids (I experience some fading and creasing on drier lids so oily lids could experience worst).
  • Those who are a bit careless when it comes to screwing packaging tight.

If you like E.L.F. you’ll find the joy here however if you’re a bit pickier about your makeup these won’t be for you. I personally didn’t like the shade selection with this set and might have been more inclined to like the set if better Fall colors were included like a fiery orange to go along with the gold for a pretty autumn look. I’m not particularly keen on the formula which was slightly lacking and faded/creased easily. It’s a nice set for back to school and decent enough for those who aren’t inclined to spend alot of money on eyeshadow however those with a bit more distinguished tastes in makeup might not feel the love!

These are available now at Target.

Will you haul?

I bought the eye shadow primer set the other day, and today I got a neutral eye shadow palette. Every time I go to Target I haul something from this line and then come home and hate myself, because I never end up liking anything!

I LOVE loose shadows, but I don’t like how mismatched this set seems…I also have oily lids, and I’m a little warry about that…
I’ll stick with my Antoinette’s Revolution Cosmetics for my loose shadow needs. Geeky theme and amazing makeup? Yes please!
LeakyCon was INCREDIBLE by the way. For once, I felt completely accepted and free to be myself 1000000%! There were amazing cosplayers, including Ten and Rose. It was incredible, even with a few rough spots. Here’s my full review, if you’re interested. It’d long and drawn out, haha!

I met some of my heroes (John and Hank Green, Evanna Lynch, Mark Oshiro…).
