Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow Palette Prelude Review, Swatches, Photos
A taupe shadow palette?
Chanel has it. Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel for Fall 2011 is an interesting reflection in color and should be a crowd pleasure for those that absolutely adore taupe!
Me, I can’t pull them off so well but I had fun trying!

The Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow Palette in Prelude is a study in sophisticated shades that are subtle, subdued, and very ideal for a professional working environment. Taupe lovers will embrace this palette like a long lost prodigal son returning from an adventure abroad however lovers of color will probably find it a bit lacking.
The colors start off with a true taupe shade, that undefinable shade of both grey and brown. A soft, creamy vanilla is also included for highlighting followed up by another taupe-y beige and finally chocolate-y shade that’s almost purple for lining with.
The shades are all soft, pigmented, and blend easily. The colors are a tad difficult to work with if you aren’t a huge taupe person. I personally find them a bit of a chore to blend as they end up turning all sorts of muddy when used together however with a little time, patience, and care you can create a contrasting eye look with just the right amount of defining beauty.
I found Chanel’s choice of blush, Rose Ecrin, an interesting choice to pair up the shadow quad with. This is a subtle, light dusky rose that swatches as almost a beige peach.
And finally another very interesting pick is the Chanel Glossimer in Braise. This shade takes a far off left hand turn from the other more muted shades in the collection. It’s a bright shade of garnet red with golden shimmer. The color is of medium pigmentation and looks best when applied over a stain for added pop. I thought it was a sharp turn from the more subtle, subdued shades of both the quad and blusher.
Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel for Fall 2011 is all about natural, sophisticated elegance. I’m not getting a complete Fall vibe here but more along the lines of a professional working woman collection.
