Kat Von D Poetica Eau de Parfum $55
“Writing, just like tattooing, has been an outlet for me for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s love letters or self-expression, I created my Poetica fragrance to represent the power of poetry. My fragrances are sexy, daring, and each one lets you devote your attention to the moment. To me, Poetica is an enticing extension of these fragrances”and every love letter ever written.” “Kat Von D, tattoo artist and reality television star

Top notes of dewy rose petals and passion fruit intertwine with delicious crushed berries. At the heart, the subtle accord of a white orchid blends with night blooming tuberose, sweet Tahitian cherry, and spicy sambac jasmine. At the end, sensual musk, amber and blonde woods fuse with caramelized praline.

Notes:
Dewy Rose Petals, Passion Fruit, Crushed Berries, White Orchid, Tuberose, Tahitian Cherry, Sambac Jasmine, Sensual Musk, Praline, Blonde Woods, Amber.

Both the Saint and Sinner palettes look like they can be easily duped from other True Romance Palettes but I really love the idea of my nudes being all in one place and I’m really loving the looks of Saint. You can’t really see it but the compact appears to be updated as well with an interesting embedded design. I think they also did away with the cream shadows/liners everyone disliked so much!

I will probably haul both including the new fragrance.

What do you think?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Eh *shrugs* lol! Looks nice but similar to colors I already have. Haven’t been moved by most of the fall collections I’ve seen other than like 1 or 2.

  • Sarah S.

Looking forward to your swatches, Muse! As usual, you’re the first to bring us the news 🙂 That rhymed, oops! Isn’t it great they ditched the useless applicators in favor of a coordinating eyeliner? The UD Naked Palette went in the opposite direction (so sad).

    • the Muse

always sarah 😀 gotta scoop the latest beauty for my fellow junkies girl! ;-D haha…….you’re a poetic not a saint or a sinner ;-D! Agreed! Those were totes useless also happy about no cream shadows/liners!

  • Becky

oOo I want to smell the perfume, I just love Saint.. it’s like a more ‘grown up’ Pink Sugar (which I looooove)

  • jess

I’m curious how this new black mascara will stack up to the old formula (which was my hg mascara, before it was discontinued). The packaging for the new palettes looks awesome! i’m a sucker for neutrals, so i’ll probably end up getting the Saint palette…and maybe the Sinner one too!
Not sure how true this is, but I heard later in the fall there’s going to be another KvD palette with only cream shadows, and the colored eyeliners are going to be re-formulated. I guess we’ll see!

    • the Muse

I’d buy the cream shadow palette jess…I actually love the formula of them in the true romance palette just wish they didn’t dry out so fast ;-D that’s brilliant news thanks for sharin’ it!

  • Josh :D

I’ll definitely be giving this a wiff when I see it during one of my many, many days in Sephora! Sinner is my signature scent (I’ve gone through at least 1oz) and I love Saint, so, we’ll see! (Although Adora smelled eww) 😀

  • Mandi

Seems she did away with the useless brushes too. I’m a kvd palette collector, so I’ll probably get both.

  • Mallory

New packaging?! I like it! I’m probably going to end up getting Saint — love the neutral colors. =)

  • Kayla

I’m liking the palettes, I can actually see myself using all of these shades whereas with her other palettes, I’d only use about half the shadows. I’m not too sure on how I’ll feel about the perfumd but I cannot WAIT to sniff it. A lot of the notes are not in any of my fragrances but I like the idea of them! I absolutely love her Saint fragrance, I try it on every single time I’m in Sephora… I really just need to go ahead and buy it, haha.

  • Ondina

I’ve had/seen all the neutral palettes from Bobbi Brown to UD to TF to NYX and Kat’s Saint palette looks more wearable than them all. I look forward to seeing swatches and seeing in person. Thanks for the info!

  • Comrade Garlic

I like the pallets, even though I’m pretty sure I have most of those colors from her other ones. I can’t seem to stay away from her makeup. Did you see the lipsticks she twittered (?) today? They have a foil finish! No, I don’t follow Kat, Sephora re-tweeted.

    • the Muse

comrade it’s ok, I won’t tell anyone you follow KVD….*looks at the ceiling and whistles* ;D!

  • Marilyn @ Lipgloss and Spandex

I’m really intrigued by these new palettes. The colors look great, and I like that they’re grouped neutrals and vampy colors–I think it makes for a more useful palette. The cream shadow was the only thing holding me back, and hearing that these don’t have any means I’ll be hunting my local Sephora for them! I’m interested in smelling the new poetica fragrance also. I like the Saint edt but haven’t purchased it yet.

  • peri

the palettes dont interest me at all…but ive gotta smell the perfume…its important lol

  • Majick

Hi Muse – it’s me from home (same name, dif email).

I may be in trouble here. I have most of Kat’s palettes but stopped buying them because of the useless creams. I know some like them but you had to get ’em when they were fresh. Since I usually wait for a F&F or some kind of coupon, well… let’s just say I only got to use the very first cream shadow from the very first palette.

I love the new raised design of this palette. I love that there are no creams. I think it’s nice to have a liner instead ot those tiny brushes. I think Kat’s shadows are great as far as pigment, blendablility, and colors. Loving the Saint but wouldn’t be right not to balance it out right? LOL

    • the Muse

hey majick ;-D Happy Monday! I’m so happy there creams are gone ;-)! absolutely need them ;-D go get ’em! ;-D! I’m def ordering when in stock!

      • Majick

I may have to wait on these since I did some “bloody” damage this weekend. Gonna look like a vampire tarte! LOL

  • theRothstanator

Damn, more palettes to buy so that my collection remains complete. I am glad she got rid of those brushes and added the eyeliner for an extra $1, though.

  • Amy

I have loved all of Kat Von D’s fragrances so I will more than likely love the new one. But I’ve been putting off getting any of the pallettes because I usually don’t buy them unless I know I’ll use all the shades. These look much more like my style, so I’ll probably get at least one of them.

  • BooBooNinja

I’m interested in the Saint palette.
It sounds like the shadows aren’t going to be crazy shimmer, which is something I don’t like about the Naked Palette. Then again, I don’t own the UD palette either. 🙂

I’m looking forward to your review.
