Stila Wonderful in Waikiki Review, Swatches, Photos

Stila Wonderful in Waikiki graced my mailbox late last week. I ordered it as soon as it popped up on Stila’s website as it’s by far my favorite Beach Girl Palette to date.

How are you liking the new Beach Girl Palettes so far? Got a bit of that age old pokemon, must collect them all disease? I know I have. I purchased all four so far and I’m eager for the next one to release. They sure are a step up from the Travel Girl Palettes.

Let’s take a look at Stila Wonderful in Waikiki today!

A limited edition, Summer palette that features four shadows, two blushes, and how to instructions for getting the look.

I think I love Stila Wonderful in Waikiki because it screams Summer. The shades are all really warm and have a little splash of teal in the mix to keep things fun. If you love warmer shades of shadow or you have a deeper skin tone you’ll love this palette. So far it’s probably my favorite palette from the collection.

You get shadows in:

  • Wahine (sandy gold)
  • Sarong (fiery coppery bronze)
  • Coconut (chocolate-y golden brown)
  • Surf (bright matte teal, comparable to MAC Electric Eel)

Cheek Color:

  • North Shore (bright orange)

Highlighter/Bronzer:

  • Hanauma Bay (bronze-y orange)

The shadows are all pigmented and have a formula that blends easily without fuss or drama. Stila shadows remind me of a mix of powder and cream as they have a thicker texture with a velvety feel that blends easily however they do occasionally come across a tad too frosty but these shades seem to be tamed back considerably and didn’t have as much frost. The colors are vibrantly rich and as I mentioned, very Summer-y! In my experience with both the Beach and Travel Girl Palettes the shadows are slightly scaled back from Stila’s normal range. In the case of the Travel Girl Palettes this is very noticeable however in the Beach Girl ones not alot is missing as they are a lower grade but very comparable to the normal range in terms of texture, formulation, and pigmentation.

The overall look of the palette is a warm eye with a splash of blue on the lower lash line to give that beach-y vibe of sand versus water. I wasn’t particularly keen on the aqua shade as it makes my eyes look a tad tired when I go bold on the lower lash line and more natural on the upper but it’s a nice, traditional Summer eye look combining these shades.

Both the bronzer and blush have a matte, pigmented formula however….

The blush is a tad too orange for me however if you mix the bronzer and blush you can come out with a warmer shade of peach however used on its own it is a tad too orange particularly for those with paler, fairer skin.

  • Anyone looking for an easy to travel with vacation palette!
  • Anyone looking for a budget beauty pick for Summer that creates an entire face within minutes!
  • Anyone who loves Stila.

  • Anyone who isn’t keen on warmer shades.

Overall, Wondeful in Waikiki is a super budget pick for Summer. This is a mere $14 and includes everything you need for a completed face look, just add your own lipgloss! The palette is super travel friendly thanks to its small size plus the sweet Stila Girl packaging should appeal to old school Stila fans. Although I have ranted about the rise in price of $4 versus last year’s version of $10, I’m still a big supporter and fan of these little palettes and do believe they are a great value!

Well worth a pick up! Muse Approved for purchase!

Wowwww this one looks wonderfully pigmented. Sarong is such a gorgeous shade! (Bummer I’m pale and cool-toned, I’ll have to pass.) I agree that these are better than the Travel Girl palettes. The bronzer looks great on you.

I have this palette and I love Sarong – do you know what other colors are similar to that one? I’ve been using it a lot and would probably want to buy a full size of something like it.
