Tarte For True Blood Collection Tarte Cosmetics True Blood Collection

Grrr I’m on so many teams this year.

Go Team Lala! Go Team Alcide! Go Team Eric! Go Team Pam!

Damn, I’m exhausted….and Go Team Edward come November.

Oh don’t forget Team bloody Matt Smith, go on my son! You’re doing the Doctor good!

Let’s keep it to True Blood Teams for now though! What do you think of Lala sportin’ that very fine ‘hawk? Loves! I just caught up on Episode 1 and 2 of the new season so I’m kinda hyped for more.

Jump!

I had no info about the Tarte Cosmetics True Blood Collection outside of the fact that it was launching on June 22nd. Sadly, I was on vacation when the launch actually popped.

But you betcha your sweet makeup collection that I e-mailed Tarte on the double prior to heading on holiday and said, “Hey guys! Please give me some hope…some nibble…a bone…something to tell readers about…”

Sadly, I was unable to weasel the deets out of them even after promising I’d give them reign over Team Lala but they did share with me that the collection was two year’s in the making, imagine that! Damn! But now it is official, it is launched, and it is available for sale! And I bet you guys have hauled it hard! I know I have. I’m waiting to get some of the pieces I ordered from Sephora.

Who knew an innocent brand like Tarte would collaborate with sexy vampires, werewolves, and men in makeup (oh Lafayette…)!

Check it!

This new line captures the soul of the supernatural hit television series and combines it with Tartes essence of high-performance natural formulas and trendsetting, iconic products. Emmy award-winning makeup artist and True Blood makeup department head Brigette Myre-Ellis interpreted the color palette and helped develop the official Tarte for True Blood beauty looks for the collection. Featured in strikingly vivid black and red packaging, Tarte for True Blood will be available late June, coinciding with the shows fourth season on June 26, 2011.

Myre-Ellis wanted to include her favorite Tarte products when helping to create this collection which included the award-winning LipSurgence Lip Tint, a Natural Cheek Stain and a versatile eyeshadow palette with shimmer, matte and smoky shades. From luminous fairy to vampy vixen, consumers can use this makeup to create countless beautiful looks.

“I’ve always liked Tarte’s natural products,” said Myre-Ellis. “So when Tarte and HBO asked for my assistance in developing this special cosmetics line, I jumped at the opportunity. I had so much fun helping to create the looks and I am sure women will have just as much fun exploring new ways to enhance their beauty.”

Inspired by the edgy drama series, the limited-edition collection includes three killer products:

  • Tarte for True Blood Collectors Palette (Includes 17 matte and shimmer eyeshadows, EmphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner in Black, a deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes! Clinically-Proven Natural Mascara and a Deluxe Lifted Natural Eye Primer with Firmitol)
  • Tarte for True Blood Natural Cheek Stain in Shimmering Red
  • Tarte for True Blood LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Shimmering Red

“As loyal fans of the hit series, were absolutely thrilled to be working with HBO and the True Blood team,” said Maureen Kelly, Founder & CEO of Tarte, Inc. “This collection not only reflects the sexy vibe of the show, but it also remains true to the tarte brand with natural formulas, healthy ingredients and eco-chic packaging.”

“Tarte was the perfect company to partner with for this exciting venture,” stated James Costos, VP of Licensing and Retailing, at HBO. “In coordination with Brigette, they have developed an exquisite collection that is truly representative of the dark, provocative world of True Blood. These products are sure to glamor consumers, both True Blood fans and those who may not be as familiar with the show.”

The collection is available now at Sephora, Sephora.com, Sephora Canada, tartecosmetics.com, store.hbo.com, and will be available shortly from Ulta and Ulta.com.

What fav shows or movies would you love to see a brand team up with?

I’m all about the Doctor Who collaboration with MAC…where the hell is it already? My geeky good nature DEMANDS it.

Share your thoughts on Tarte’s True Blood Collection and what you hauled, if anything or tell me shows and movies you’d rather see made into a makeup collection!

Whoa, whoa WHOA!!!! Doctor Who for MAC?!?!?! I was under a rock! When was this announced lol?

I know this sounds crazy, but I’d love to see a collection honoring Jem and the Holograms…mainly because that was my favorite cartoon growing up and I would love to see what crazy colors would come out with it. XD

    • the Muse

I WISH mc. It was announced in my dreams. Tardis Blue Eyeshadow and Centurion Red Lipstick are NOT happening unfortunately. Along with Tweed Eyeshadow and Pond Peach Blush ;-D ooo YES please on Jem! That would be truly outrageous, pun intended ;D!

      • Tammie

I would literally die if that happened Muse. Also my husband would be shocked since I’d need every. single. item.

As for this collection I want the cheek stain but it actually makes me not want it since it’s a TV tie-in…just because I don’t watch True Blood (who knows maybe I’d love it…I’ve just never seen it).

        • the Muse

ha tammie ;-D it would be killer! omg girl go catch up and watch it…it’s amazings!

          • Tammie

It seriously would haha. I’d need to be really bad and use a credit card even *gasp* (seriously though that’d be a huge deal).

            Is it on Netflix?

      • Erica

I would absolutely DIE if they did a Doctor Who collection at MAC. I would buy every single product, no questions asked.

  • Cj

Well you already know how much I love the cheek stain 😛 A Doctor Who Mac collection would be to die for! I’d probably get every single item lol. OMG Think of the packaging!

    • the Muse

ha cj wouldn’t that be wicked? I need to sit down with mac and explain to them that this is a necessary evil for us geeks!

  • TrillianT

Muse, thanks for your article; I didn’t know that this collection was two years in the making! I haven’t heard that anywhere else on the web – I think that’s why I keep haunting your site during my work hours 🙂
Can’t wait for your review of the products!!

    • the Muse

hey Trillian! I was speaking to the public relations team at Tarte and one of the lovely girl’s over there was telling me this two two year’s to come about! I was in awe ;-D!!!!!!!!! Aw shucks, thanks for visiting ;-D did you haul any? My review is coming atcha shortly ;-D! I have the palette but waiting on the stain and lippie to arrive from an order I placed at Sephora ;D!

  • Sara

Online the palette looks pretty boring (awesome packaging aside, if I was shallow enough, or a rabid fangirl I would get it for that alone – alas, I am not), but in person it’s quite pretty. Still, it’s a very safe set of shadows and frankly I’ve got similar enough colors already that the hefty $52 will prevent me from grabbing it.

The lipstain was a bit of a miss for me too. Online and in your hand it’s a glorious, rich sparkly red…..on my lips however it’s decidedly bright, bubblegummy, barbie-doll raspberry pink and doesn’t come anywhere near red. *sigh* The formula is nice, though, you’d never know it was a stain. Too bad it makes me look like a tarty (ha!) little teenager with no clue about her “colors.”

The cheek stain is my last hope for a happy ending from this collection. And I can’t find it in stores yet to try on. I hold out hope that it will not clash with my skintone. Thank goodness I didn’t immediately purchase these online when they were first available for sale! Talk about a sad panda. 🙁

Duuuude, a Dr. Who collection would just be the tits. I can’t really wear blue very well, but you better believe I’d get it anyway!

I look foward to your swatches of the True Blood stuff! I’m interested in the quality of the shadows n’ stuff.

  • Courtney

I’m not sure which makes me drool more, the makeup or the hot pictures of Alcide and Eric!

  • lexi

I didn’t love epi 1, but thought 2 was great. vampire Bill in 1982 London – all Sex Pistols style? NICE! I’ve never fawned over Bill. But – you put a little eyeliner and an earring on the boy and then I’m there, apparently!

Only 12 epis seems like a short time to get through this season.

    • the Muse

I LOVED bill getting in touch with his brit side haha ;-D awwww damn is it only 12 le sigh! I hope next week is just as juicy! the whole fairy thing in eppy 1 was bogus…so def agree, things didn’t get completely rolling until 2 ;-D!

  • kharanya

OMG You won’t believe how long I’ve been waiting for this post!!!! I hauled the palette anyway, and I adore it. I’ve only tried a few colours out in looks so far, but the quality of the ES are nicer than the ones in the jewelry box, the mattes are more pigmented and softer.

Even the aqua liner is better than the ones I got from the during their BOGO, I suspect that BOGO was to fob off their drying out ones cause they few I bought didn’t feel cool or glide on so easily.

I definitely think all the colour are wearable, i tried “V” cause usually anything in that colour spectrum makes me look like I have a shiner, but it was actually flattering. I didn’t get the cheek or lip tint though, I’m rather skeptical of that red cheek stain on olive skin.

    • the Muse

aw kharanya I am so sorry it’s late coming to you ;-D I was away when it finally popped! omg I think the red on olive skin would kick it girl ;-D you should try it!

      • kharanya

Here’s the thing GF, I go all out on my eyes, even when I’m trying not to, so it would like really overdone. I also wasn’t too crazy about the huge chunks of glitter in it and the full size.

I don’t wear makeup everyday, so those full size cheek stains are totally wasted on me. I still have 95% of the bronze goddess one more than 18 months later. I really wish they’d make mini versions of their cheek stains, there’s no way anyone could go through one before it expired.

        • the Muse

hey chickie can totally relate…those things are huge and I def wouldn’t wear it all either ;-D I kinda dig it for days I’m not wearing anything makeup as I look dull without at least some stain on my face ;-D! but can understand that you wanna go tame with cheeks b/c you are doing the eyes up! I make the mistake too many times of overdoing my cheeks and eyes :-/

          • kharanya

Oh, I look dead w/o blush lol, I just don’t really like anything bold since my eyes always are 😛

  • Mariel

If you want your cheeks to look like lit up disco balls then def get the “cheek stain”. I wanted to love it so, so badly but the stain was so weak and it just looked like smearing glitter on my face 🙁 The lip tint was more orange than red which was super disappointing- it’s a lovely shade just not the blood red I was hoping for. I didn’t get the eye pallet but I’m tempted- I have most of those colors in my “collection” already but having a true blood edition would be nice!

  • Musebeliever

I’ve always been tempted to try Tarte’s eyeshadows and this palette is just amaaaaaaaazing ! *o*
Unfortunately no money to buy it. :'(

  • heidi

I have never watched true blood but I am digging this collection. I’m gonna need all of it! I would love an Urban Decay Dexter combo or mac and game of thrones or tudors and Nars! This a fun game I should work for a makeup company 🙂
