Bobbi Brown Marrakesh Chic Fall 2011 Collection

Here she is…what we’ve all been waiting for…

Bobbi Brown Marrakesh Chic Fall 2011 Collection!

Everyone squeal.

Excited?

Jump!

A few years ago, Bobbi traveled to Morocco for a week-long bike tour, which took her from the Atlas Mountains to the coastal plains. Bobbis first stop was a marketplace in Marrakesh, where there was no shortage of color. Jars filled with saturated pigments, mounds of fabric in the most vibrant hues, burlap sacks of anise, cumin and turmeric spices, and antique woven kilim rugs in beautifully weathered colors overwhelmed the senses. Moved by the sights and smells, Bobbi returned home with endless inspiration for what is now the Fall 2011 Collection. Featuring intensely pigmented colors, this collection is designed to be smudged, swiped or blotted to create a stained look thats fresh and wearable.

Together, the formula and the exclusive pressing technique combine to create an elastic, second skin finish that goes onto the lids with advanced adherence.

I know it’s Bobbi Brown we’re talking about and subdued would be an understatement but even so this is not Marrakesh to me. I like plenty of BB products but certain places just aren’t “Bobbi Friendly”, like Rio de Janeiro, Bombay or Marrakesh. The tortoise shell collection made a lot of sense given her oeuvre- but spicy, textural feasts for the senses? No way! She’d overload!

Swatched all of them about a week ago and was very disappointed. The sales associate (who I know fairly well) was less than overjoyed at this group of shadows. The formulation is not what it’s supposed to be. But the lipsticks are great. The Rich Lip Color in Desert Rose is the one I walked away with. It’s probablyl the one on the gorgeous model.

I bought the darker Tortoise Shell palette and love it, so this “collection” was a bit of a letdown. Oh well, more money for . . . Dior?!

I’m not a fan of this collection to be honest after seeing it in person this weekend. The holiday collection on the other hand is going to requrie a major haul from me – especially that ruby sparkle eyeshadow quad!

      • VP

Hey Muse! One of the associates let me see a tester. If you remember the sparkle eyeshadow singles Bobbi released last year (the charcoal collection), they are about as sparkly as that. A lot softer and easier to work with. The quad is gorge Muse! You’ll have to pre order one like I did!

        • the Muse

awesome I’m looking forward to trying. I believe I might have some testers arriving today!

    • Majick

yes YES! RUby Sparkle … do tell…

(yes, I’m slowly converting Muse LOL)

  • telle

i will pass on the shadows, but the violet glaze lipstick sounds phenomenal!

  • Majick

I would love to compare in person but this really reminds me of Smashbox’s Bloom palette.

  • Laura

YOu know what’s weird? I JUST bought BB fall collection from last year (Denim & Roses) on Ebay. I liked last year’s fall so much better then this year

    • the Muse

aw don’t say that laura. The tortoise shell collection was amazing!!
