MAC Me Over! Eyeshadow Review, Swatches, Photos

MAC Me Over releases August 25th and is a collection inspired by the Fall 2010 MAC Me Over! contest which was a search for for the essence of what makes MAC people beautiful. The online contest asked fans to submit a photo and video finishing the statement, “MAC Me Over! because…”

Six individuals truly stood out from the submissions and were selected to fly out New York City and experience a superstar level photo shoot and collaborative makeover with industry luminaries such as world-renowned photographer Michael Thompson, A-list stylist Paul Cavaco, hair guru Serge Normant, makeup artist Brigitte Reiss-Andersen, and of course, our very own Creative Director of MAC Cosmetics Worldwide, James Gager, who oversaw the project from its inception and hand-selected the winners.

This collection reminds us why MAC is so near and dear to our hearts, it reminds that makeup is about YOU whoever YOU are…Boy, girl, black white, old, young, man, woman…!

Let’s take a look at some of the shadows released with the collection!

MAC Me Over! will release several shades of single shadows as well as two quads.

I received two of the shadows from the release which were Satin Taupe and Mythical.

Satin Taupe: This is a frost finish but easy to wear without looking too shimmery or frosty. The shade is a true taupe with silver shimmer that has a bit of deep brown to it. I find the color smokes out very well to add mystery to eyes.

Mystical: An instant favorite for me! This is a Veluxe Pearl finish with a smooth formula. The color is a fiery copper with a bit of red to it.

You’ll want to pick up Mystical for Fall as it’s one of those shades that makes me think of falling leaves and Satin Taupe is a given for those who adore taupe shades.

Are these or any of the other shades from the MAC Me Over! Collection on your wish list?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I have to agree, I really like that this collection is focused more on us makeup users! I get a bit tired of the ads with the models (I don’t know how to phrase it) but the kind of “makeup believe” of it.

Love those colors I really like the Mystical the taupe one is good but i think it looks a bit too purpely for me!!

My list doesn’t include the eyeshadows.
I am hoping to get a MAC226 brush.

Satin Taupe is a great colour to wear as a daytime smokey eye, I love it when they repromote perm shades to collections, a lot better than just adding one to a collection that looks to 99.9% like a perm shade.

How close is Mystical to So Vain and other bronzey reds?

    • the Muse

hey nia…def a great one for day to day use. sadly I’m not very good with dupes so couldn’t tell you…plus I don’t think I have so vain eep!

No worries, it was Vainglorious I meant anyways 😉

I think I am good, those colours are a pita for me to pull off though. Not that there is a shortage of eyeshadows in the near future for me 😉

how are things on your side of the pond?

        • the Muse

great thanks for asking nia, terribly swamped but good ;-D and you?

          • Nia

            Same.
I feel like I haven’t been here in ages, but it’s good to be back 😉

Already have Satin Taupe, Mystical really looks great.
The colors look similar to Nars’ new eyeshadow duo Grand Palais.
