A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…Dark Weirdo, Kermit Skywalker, Princess Piggy, and the rest of the cast of Star Wars Muppets demanded time with the Balm’s Cast Your Shadow Face Palette, who could blame them?
Once the lightsabers started flying I was given no choice in the matter!
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Eye Shadow is testimony to the fact that you can find Japanese style eyeshadow at your drugstore. When Maybelline ventured into their Eye Studio Collection in late 2009 beginning of 2010 it was a step in a new direction for drugstore eyeshadows.
Let’s face it, can you name a ton of eyeshadows that you’d buy at the drugstore that are actually GOOD?
I can’t sadly. Most are chalky and sadly, lacking. However, drugstore makeup is slowly making small steps towards successfully creating wearable makeup but with those steps comes a huge jack up in price too but I don’t mind, I’ll pay more if I’m getting a quality product.
Eye Studio Plush Silk Eyeshadow Quads from Maybelline were a step in the right direction. Some folks hated these, I personally loved them….speaking as a fan of Japanese brands these are some of the closet style of shadow formula you’ll get in North America that mimic the formula and texture of an Asian eyeshadow purchased in an Asian Drugstore abroad…!
The new range of Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Eye Shadow are pretty much spot on the same concept. These released earlier this year in the UK and they finally popped up on our shores a few short months ago.
H20 Plus was one of the first skincare collections that took over my obsession with Lush. I’ve was a long time Lush skincare user prior to discovering H20 Plus but I loved the line so much after trying out a single moisturizer than so after I was incorporating may of their products into my daily regime.
Anyway…that’s my story of the day. Are you an H20 Plus fan?
They are doing Bio-Boost Sets and have Buy 2, Get 1 Free at Ulta at the moment plus 20% off using promo code 60057, total scorage!
Benefit Holiday 2011 is buzzing all over British beauty blogs this week! Yesterday, I gave you the word on their new upcoming Watts Up! Highlighter and today I’ll be giving you fuller deets on what may be in store for the Holidays as well as the new Benefit I’m Glam Therefore I Am Palette.
Just when I convince myself I won’t be pulled back in their shower gel game, I get suckered back in. It’s like the shower gel mafia!
Recently, they started doing a super limited range of shower gels. Now, limited edition, can’t be taken seriously anymore in the beauty world. At one time, beauty junkies would quake in fear when someone even uttered the words LE. We’d all hoard away dupes of LE products and never pull them out of our beauty vaults.
But “limited edition” is tossed around to casually nowadays and gone are the days where we have to hoard dupes of products, makeup collections, etc…since stuff rarely sells out and that LE run is long……like years….introduce it today as Limited Edition and come back around the same time next year and that shiz will still be around on the shelf.
But Philosophy kicked LE back old school style with their Shower Gel of the Month Club at QVC. Each month, Philosophy introduces one single new shower gel that’s available for a single month before disappearing for good…! It all started out with Lively Lemon Coconut…!
Flash forward a few months and Summer brings Philosophy Maraschino Cherry Lemonade…
Moral of the story?
Get it now why the getting is good because it’ll be gone REALLY soon!
Anyone haul anything from Sonia Kashuk Target Fall 2011 Collection as of yet? Outside of the new palette and lash curler I skipped up on the brush sets, I have too many already….! But they are a pretty tweed print and if you’re in need of some inexpensive brushes these are the way to go in my humblest.
Some girls are Shiseido Maquillage girls, some girls aren’t. I happen to be in the “aren’t group”. I dunno why but I’ve never fully embraced the Shiseido Maquillage line.
Shiseido Maquillage is a sub-brand from Shiseido available in Japanese drugstores (and a few select Asian countries as well). Quality is on par with counter makeup and the brand has a very large cult following however I’ve always dabbled my time away with other Shiseido sub-brands like Majolica Majorca.
Recently, my interest did get piqued again (it does sometimes with Maquillage) and I decided to haul some of the new Essence Glamour Rouges.
Open Thread is a time we can all get together and discuss our week, our life, our new favorite makeup, a current purchase…anything! That’s why it’s open thread, it’s the option to discuss makeup or anything else on your mind! It’s a time I can talk to you and you can talk to me and hopefully you’ll talk to each other too!!!!!
Off the topic of makeup…
What’s on your Tivo, in your DVD, or on your telly at the moment?
My Tivo is loaded up tight with backed up True Blood, Vampire Dairies, Mystery episodes, and the latest eppy of Who…I’m savoring it, like a fine wine, don’t say a word about Hitler or River until I’ve watched it…Shhhh!
At the moment my DVD is lonesome while I’m debating on finishing Personal Taste which was so damn slow to start or if I should go ahead and indulge in Oh! My Lady….I’m really not ready to take on Lee Min Ho at the moment, too much leisure suit, AHHH my eyes! So I guess Oh! My Lady it is.
The girls over at Dramabeans have taken to a rewatch of My Lovely Sam Soon and I was tempted to join in but…..mmm I have a bit too much backed up at the moment and haven’t even slipped the new Joe Cheng (dontcha just wanna eat him for dessert?) drama in my DVD yet so never mind rewatching stuff I already saw.
And we just finished watching, for the third time, the suckage that is Sucker Punch because it seems that we either can’t take our eyes off the incredible story line…..or the really short skirts.
