Philosophy Divine Long-Wear Creamy Eye Color Review, Swatches, Photos

Philosophy Divine Long-Wear Creamy Eye Color happens to be just that, divine! I’m a long time, self proclaimed hater of cream shadows however in recent years I’ve found that I really love them because they are simple to use and create an elegant look in seconds where as you’d be wasting extra minutes with a powder, creams just have a knack of blending out in a quick swipe of your finger.

Love no nonsense beauty!

Philosophy Divine Long-Wear Creamy Eye Color are a brand new selection of cream shadows with a formula that contains an emollient that helps provide even application and keep color in place, while antioxidants and aloe help condition the skin.

I’m kinda loving these at the moment so time to share the joy.

A cream shadow that promises long wear in a crease-proof formula.

Philosophy Divine Long-Wear Creamy Eye Color comes in a lipgloss-like tube with a sponge tip applicator for application. The main appeal of the shadows is the fact they swipe on, blend out, and create a perfect eye look in seconds. Don’t get me wrong, I love powder shadow as much as the next person but when I’m in a rush or I simply do not want to spend tons of time on my eyes BUT still want to look like I did these do the trick in seconds versus a powder which I’d have to fiddle with for an extra few minutes I might not be able to spare.

I find the formula a hydrating cream which blends easily and applies just as simply with the sponge applicator. Honestly, in my experience with the applicator I had no problems swiping shadow into place without the extra helping hand of my fingers to blend so if you prefer not having to touch anything you can allow the applicator to do the work for you. The formula glides on easily and leaves behind a smooth finish. I find the texture remains dewy to the touch just long enough to allow you to build colors up so it’s not drying super fast nor is it staying “wet” too long. A single swipe yields plenty of color but the shades build easily for a deeper, richer finish. My drier lids appreciate the hydrating, dewy finish however I’m unsure how well they’ll perform on oily lids. I didn’t have issues with the color fading and it remained very vibrant and fresh throughout the day. I also didn’t have a problem with creasing however the texture of the formula changes a little bit as the day progresses and becomes noticeably drier which causes a little bit of flaking but nothing dramatic enough to rant about.

I tried two shades which were Gold Stardust and Brown Sugar. I love both and highly recommend them should you step into a purchase. Gold Stardust is a sheer, golden beige with tiny flecks of gold. This color isn’t going to leave behind a ton of pigment but it manages to brighten up tired eyes and lays a beautiful base for other colors. This is comparable to shades such as MAC Fairylite Pigment or Laura Mercier Eye Basics. Brown Sugar is a golden brown which reflects a bit bronze-y on my lids. It’s a beautiful shade of chocolate that builds up to a richer golden brown.

There isn’t much I can rant about here as I generally liked these alot but it does deserve mentioned that I did see the texture change as the day progresses and the shadow went from a smoother, velvety finish to a bit of a drier feel. Nothing noticeable but they did have a little flaking action as the day progressed…I’d say around the 5th hour of wear I noticed this.

  • Those with drier eyes who want a hydrating eye shadow that blends easily without little tugging or fuss.
  • Those wanting a simple yet elegant eye look without alot of application drama.
  • Those new to eyeshadows or those who simply lack the skill to apply shadow (these make shadow application very easy and drama-free).

  • Those with oily lids (I’m not particularly sure how well these will wear on oily lids and some creasing may be an issue).

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with Philosophy Divine Long-Wear Creamy Eye Color. I just liked these alot and feel like hauling the other shades they have available to add to my collection. As I get older I really appreciate simple beauty that still manages to look elegant and this is just that. Application is such a breeze and takes literally seconds yet the results still look very professional and beautiful.

These are worth a haul in my opinion.

I wonder how these compare to those Guerlain cream shadows that were limited edition this summer…

sarah good question, the brown is alot like the Guerlain Cream Shadows…formula is a bit thicker and richer though!

Brown Sugar looks so pretty on you, then again those bronzey shadows always look great on you, Muse. I first got into Philosophy because of their makeup products, esp. their lipsticks, but I think their bodycare has eclipsed their makeup.
