Skin Food Fermented Pomegranate Whitening Sleep Mask Review

I could’ve been Asian in another life as I am simply obsessed with whitening products of any kind. The Asian market is flooded with an array of various whitening, brightening products to keep skin milky and fair however the US market not so much. Although this year I am seeing an array of 50+ SPF products, skin tone correctors, etc…so perhaps we are finally catching on to the whitening trend that’s taken Asia by storm for many, many years.

In my quest for less duller skin I purchased Skin Food Fermented Pomegranate Whitening Sleep Mask. Why does the name make me feel like I’m in the basement making illegal liquor? This sleeping mask promises whiter, brighter skin.

Does it work?

A sleep mask that helps brighten and whiten skin.

Skin Food Fermented Pomegranate Whitening Sleep Mask is something you have to take very seriously. You need patience, you need to be diligent with usage, and you need to have time on your hands to kill because results take more than a hot second to happen. Curious about Sleeping Masks and Packs and what they are for? Click here.

Skin Food suggests using this as the moisturizer step in your night routine and it’s recommended for twice a week use. I admit I’ve totally used it more than twice a week without any ill effects…! Seems gentle enough to me. The formula is a thicker gel-like substance that absorbs easily and has a refreshingly cool feel. If you have oily skin it’s a perfect hydrating moisturizer so you’ll be fine when skipping out on your normal regime however those with dry skin probably will still feel rather dehydrated and missing out on their thicker lotions and potions come bed time. This is one reason I try to use twice a week only as I need my good moisturizer to keep my dry skin smooth…!

Results are not instant in my opinion. Smooth it on, massage it in, rest up, wake in the morning and wash it off but don’t expect much. My first few uses I saw a subtle brightening and some dullness had eased but nothing dramatic. I’m an impatient one and want right now, this minute results but I stuck to using it until I was completely done with it…and guess what? I started up a new one and did it all over again!

Within a month of use my skin does appear visibly brighter but NOT whiter. I suffer from dull, tired skin due to dryness so I need a little bb cream and blusher to give my lackluster skin a boast. Without makeup, well, I look deathly and dull. I need a little pick me up to get it looking healthy. This sleeping pack actually gives me that boast sans the makeup however I have to be diligent about using it and I have to use it on a steady schedule because if I skip a week or I stop using it the results don’t seem to be long term.

Brightening? Yes, somewhat. Whitening? No way. Too bad as that’s what it was meant to do and I find it disappointing it doesn’t do the trick!

  • Those with lackluster, dull skin.
  • Those in need of a boast to give them that makeup optional skin look.
  • Those wanting brighter skin but not whiter skin.

  • Those wanting to whiten skin or take it down a shade (it brightens but does not whiten).
  • Skin Food is sold in Korea and select Asian markets but not within the US so a little online shopping and airmail fees are involved to get your hands on this!

If you head into a purchase expecting this to take your tone down a notch you’ll be disappointed however if you just want to brighten up skin that needs a little helping hand this is your ticket. This does brighten up skin and eases dullness or lackluster skin but you need a little time, alot of patience, and possibly more than one bottle. It’s also something that needs to become a staple part of your regime to work because I find when I remove it from the equation my skin does go back to being dull again. I’m not sure it’s worth continued use since my dry skin really can’t take skipping out on my richer moisturizer in the evening but for those who can suffer a night or two without their normal round up products you might wanna inject this into your regime for brighter skin.

    Miss Muse,

Have you ever ordered from BonjourHK.com? I just heard about the site and the prices are SUSPICIOUSLY low — some even cheaper than in Japan and Korea. At first I thought they might be selling fake products but I saw a couple of blog reviews and they couldn’t make fake items for every single brand right lol?

Bonjour is a cosmetic store in Hong Kong, which is legit. I loved Bonjour.
Not sure about the online store, but it seems to be owned by the same company.

Boo, I was hoping this would actually be whitening! Oh well..
Oh, Muse! Did you hear that a new SkinFood Shop opened in S. California?

I’m all for brightening skin, making it less dull, but whitening really is a bit much.
