Guerlain Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder Review, Swatches, Photos
Today I cry tears of joy.
I hold in my hand the new Guerlain Vol de Nuit Shimmer Powder for Holiday 2011 (no not Voldemort).
I have many a renditions of Guerlain Holiday Shimmer Powders that I’ve purchased over the years and each proves to be unique and special to my collection however the Vol de Nuit Shimmer Powder, interestingly enough, has come full circle.
This new limited edition powder is the traditional shimmer powder release from Guerlain. Guerlain always does an incredibly beautiful powder each Holiday season but Vol de Nuit is a little bit different and special as it combines not only the sparkle of a beautiful powder but also sports a subtle fragrance.
The powder is scented with green, woody notes, a bit of vanilla, and the soft, delicate floral note of iris. I think collectors will be quite interested in the fact that the powder has a mysterious, rich fragrance versus Guerlain’s customary violet scent. The fragrance is actually strong enough to linger on skin so anyone close enough to you will be able to smell it on your skin.
Of course, you’re not limited to using this on your skin….face, body, hair…wherever you want a little festive Holiday sparkle!
Obviously the idea of a sparkling powder makes us all sigh in pleasure but the packaging, for true beauty junkies is just as important. Guerlain went with a square bottle this year that’s comprised of glass with a gold metal face plate. The green-blue bottle has both a modern and vintage feel. It’s a little edge-y for Guerlain but reeks of sophisticated beauty.
The actual power inside is a delicate shade of shimmering pink. The sparkle is just enough to adorn face, body, or hair without looking too overly done or giving that “off to a club” look.
Guerlain Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder is an elegant piece of Holiday that will be one for the collector’s out there. At $87 this type of elegance doesn’t come cheap but I’ve always had a very special place in my heart for Guerlain’s Holiday Powders and tend to overlook the price.
Will you be hauling anything from Guerlain Holiday 2011 when it launches in October?
