MAC Art of Powder In the Abstract Review, Swatches, Photos

MAC In the Abstract is one of three new powders releasing with the MAC Art of Powder Collection. This is a highlighter with a paint splatter-like design.

I think the beauty collector factor should filter in here with the Art of Powder release however many will be disappointed by the overall performance of the powders or at least I have been thus far.

Let’s take a peek at the In the Abstract Highlighter.

Jump!

I’m enjoying the paint splatter design here…it’s rather hipster isn’t it? The main base of the powder is a nude peach but other colors of the design include yellow, pink, and lavender. As with the Optical Bronzer the other shades in this palette are all background noise and the paler nude peach is the only shade that truly comes through here.

Ok, so this is disappointing overall as a highlighter…mmm…you’re not going to see sparkle here or shimmer, it’s pretty much a silky smooth powder. No shimmer, no glow, nada in the ways of “highlighting”….!

However…

It actually kinda sorta works as a finishing powder for me. Weird? Probably but a little light handed dusting over my entire face creates a rather nice lit from within look….it’s subtle though so don’t get too hyped.

Pigmentation is kinda subtle here, powder kick up is crazy when you apply with a bushier brush, and I doubt darker skin chicas are going to feel the love for this one, but In the Abstract proves the better of the three limited edition Art of Powder releases.

Meh…

You probably don’t need it for $38 bucks unless you’re a hardcore collector.

If you do need it, it releases September 29th, 2011.

Will you haul it?

Do share!
