Musings of the Day: A Spoonful of SPF Makes the Medicine Go Down!

SPF Pills

SPF, an important, necessary evil. It must be injected into your daily skincare regime no matter what.

But……….mmm it can be such a pain particularly when you’re using a ton of serums, potions, and lotions already.

How about taking your SPF in a different format?

Jump!

Cosmetic Business reports the next great thing in SPF might be a sunscreen pill that you take orally. Pop it in your mouth and go!

According to recent studies coral has a unique symbiotic partnership with algae living inside it whereby the algae use photosynthesis to make food for the coral and the coral waste products are used by the algae for photosynthesis. Because photosynthesis needs sunlight to work corals must live in shallow water, making them vulnerable to sunburn.

Thus this led to studies of creating a sunscreen pill based on these studies…“If we can determine how this compound is created and passed on, we could biosynthetically develop it in the laboratory to create a sunscreen for human use, perhaps in the form of the tablet, which could work in similar way.”

King’s College scientists hope to create and test the concept within the next two years.

What do you think?

Would you take your sunscreen orally?

Prefer sticking to the old fashion lotion route?

I’d totally pop a pill…no issues with that! I find SPF a chore to inject into my skincare regime and I’d totally take it orally if I could, one less thing to worry about putting on my face in the AM.

What do you think?

AGREEEEEEEEEEEED CJ! even the biore one is such a PITA…I already use so much stuff on my face, eliminating spf and popping a pill would be brilliant!

I would do it in a second if it doesn’t end up hurting the coral reefs or messing with my Vitamin D absorption, its the happy vitamin. I’m good at putting spf on my face/neck, but part like ears (I wear my hair up a lot) or hands can be forgotten a lot by me. If my dad had something like this to take while he was younger he might have avoided skin cancer to a degree. I’m not sure how much they knew back then though as to why he never wore sunscreen.

After some pretty serious testing, yes, yes I would pop me an SPF pill. :D. I effin hate worrying about having enough on. And it’s always soooooo sticky! Wearing my hair down means I sound most of my time pulling it off my sticky face, neck, shoulders, arms, etc…

I read about the possibility in the book “Can You Get Hooked on Lip Balm?”
It’s pretty cool, and I would definitely prefer a pill to lotion — but only after extensive testing and if it were safe to use with other meds.
