My Beauty Diary Arbutin Brightening Mask Review

I have a new favorite facial sheet mask.

My Beauty Diary Arbutin Brightening Mask is brilliant!

You need ’em!

I know Ive said it in prior reviews but I always like to start off a review explaining a facial sheet mask for those that might be new to Musings. Facial Sheet Masks are shaped like a mask and made out of a high quality cotton fiber. The masks are soaked in essence for a very wet feel. You apply them to your face (there are cut outs for your eyes and mouth) and sit around for 20-30 minutes and allow the essence to soak into your skin. There are various masks available in the Asian market with various formulas for brightening, anti-aging, etc….Im a big mask fan because I like to use various products to not only whiten my skin but also to ease dullness and my experience with sheet masks has been very good tackling both these issues.

Sorry…cut and paste from prior reviews but alot of newer readers have never used a sheet mask before.

Now on to the review…

These are probably My Beauty Diary’s most effective mask to date or at least I think so. Arbutin is used for skin whitening, you’ll find it in various Asian skincare, particularly from brands like DHC. This also contains Japanese sakura which supposedly helps ease dullness while brightening skin. After a single use my lackluster skin was brighter, smoother, and wonderfully hydrated. I see particularly great results the morning after use!

After using this formula I think I can probably do away with the other My Beauty Diary masks I like as this was one of the more effective ones for me as it eased dullness considerably after a single use and produced visible results.

Likey!

Highly effective way to ease dull, tired, stressed out skin.

There is a small downside….My Beauty Diary has gone thinner and thinner with the cotton fiber they use to create the masks. This is good because it allows the lotion to sink into your skin more easily but also bad because the masks tear. The Arbutin Brightening Mask is probably the thinnest mask I’ve used and they tear super easily.

If you’re a big fan of My Beauty Diary Facial Masks this one is well worth putting on your wish list particularly for skin types that need a pick me up.

Loves!

Getting these ASAP! I definitely feel your pain about sheet masks getting thinner and thinner, I gotta be like crazy carefully with em lol. Btw have you heard of/tried konjac sponges? I was browsing imomoko the other day and saw them. I guess there some kinda special facial cleansing sponges, Looks kinda interesting 😀

sorry for being a little bit out of the topic but which one do you prefer: this sheet mask or cream mask? Thank you for replying my question, hehe..

  • Caty

Yay! Been looking forward to this review. 😀 I think in terms of whitening this is the best MBD mask. It’s like your skin becomes a shade lighter. I have 2 black pearl masks I haven’t tried yet but I suspect it won’t be quite as good. I swear, it’s so hard to control yourself when it comes to sheet masks. It’s like they mate and multiply behind your back. Before you know it you have 10+ boxes in queue. Gah, I need to swap! You haven’t tried Silk Whitia, have you?

Hope you’ll post a review for the HA one. It deserves some lovin’.

hey caty not quite a shade lighter for me but very nice effect ;-D I suspect with continued use I’ll def see lighter ;-D Love! These are actually better than the black pearl imho! ;-D LOL tell me ’bout it I know the feeling well! Not yet…will shortly ;-D

Keep up your Asian beauty product reviews, love them!
Meanwhile I REALLY need to stop buying myself My Beauty Diary masks, I have so many but I never really use them… Half due to hoarding (“argh, I love that smell, what if they discontinue it?!”) and half due to not having the time.
    Silly me!

    • the Muse

thanks sj! LOL me too! I have a few expiring in 2012 really need to use them up ;-D

  • Pam

What a coincidence! I just got this too. Now I can’t wait to try it out after reading your review.. 😀

  • Mary

Hey lovely, an easy way to use the masks without them ripping is to gently unfold them while still attached to the backing sheet, slap the entire thing onto your face, and then finally removing the backing.. Hope this helps! x

    • the Muse

thanks mary they actually tear while on my face. I pat them every few seconds to let the lotion absorb and I run into problems with them tearing than :-/

  • Jes

Ooh. As if I needed more sheet masks…but you just posted that imomoko discount…click, click, buy. At least they have the unexpected side benefit of frightening my husband 😀

  • Samantha

Now I really want to try this one! I love the MBD Apple mask and I have the Hyaluronic Acid, Q10, Platinum Colloid, and (free sample) Black Pearl masks coming to try soon. 🙂

  • Trisha

    Hello, thank for the review!!

Question, am I supposed to wash it off after I use arbutin face mask?

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure. No, you don’t wash it off. You pat in any of the extra essence and follow up with your skincare routine.
