Sleek MakeUP Pout Paints Review, Swatches, Photos

Pout, pout, let it all out…

Sorry, I have these crazy little moments in life where I feel the need to replace 80’s song lyrics with my own beauty ones!

Sleek MakeUP Pout Paint recently launched in a range of 12 shades.

Pout Paint brings to the table an intensely pigmented lip product with a long lasting satiny finish.

Take a look!

A pigmented “paint” for lips that has a long lasting wear time and a super saturated color pay off!

The rave in the blog world for the past few months is OCC Lip Tars. I haven’t actually tried Lip Tars but I imagine Pout Paint is a similar sort of product as it packs a pigmented formula, a long wear time, and the formula of a gloss but the wear of a lipstick. Of course, the one the beauties of Pout Paint is the cheaper price tag. OCC Lip Tars are 0.27 and $13 versus the same size of a Pout Paint which is $8.

Pout Paints come in small little lipgloss style tubes that kinda remind me of artist paints, heck even the formula is comparable to it. Each tube will probably last you into the next millennium as the colors are incredibly pigmented and vibrant. If bold isn’t your thing you can tone these down but if you love drama you can leave them as is and sport a super pigmented pout.

The formula is very thick and creamy. It has the feel of a thick lipgloss but the dry down of a satiny lipstick. You have be extra careful during application as too much will result in a rather slow dry down and too little will result in a drier finish. Less than a pea size amount applied to a thicker lip brush and swiped on lips offers the best results and application. I personally didn’t like the matte, satiny finish so I took my favorite shades and I mixed them with a clear gloss in a small pot and PRESTO! instant bold lips with a ton of shine! I used Mirror Mirror Lipgloss to achieve this but I highly suggest an unflavored gloss since the Paints already sport a bright orange-y taste!

The joy of the Paints is how you can get your mixology on with them. As I described above I mixed with clear gloss for more of a shiny finish but you can also mix various Paints to create new and exciting shades plus the range includes a unique blue tone to add depth and warmth to any lip color or mix in a hint of pure white to lighten colors. Of course, nothing stopping you from using the blue and white as a lip color if that’s your bag but I find they prove best for mixing with other colors.

Shades I tried:

  • Peachy Keen: Bright, almost neon-like peach.
  • Pin Up: Bold, true red.
  • Peek-a-Bloo: True, vibrant blue.
  • Cloud 9: Pure white.
  • Mauve Over: Mauve, pinky purple.

As you can see below I mixed up a few shades to create new colors so you can see how these work. It’s kinda fun having the option to create your own personal shade of lip color.

These prove a little difficult to wear for those who prefer a more natural lip look. I found them WAY bold. I’m not really used to wearing such loud colors on my lips. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but did deserve mentioning, as you can easily thin them out with clear gloss and sheer the colors out by mixing with various other shades.

  • Those wanting a crazy long wearing lip color.
  • Those who like the idea of mixing various colors to create new exciting shades.
  • Those who love bolder, vibrant lip colors.

  • Those who like more subtle, natural lip looks!
  • Those who want a lightweight lipstick or gloss (you can definitely lighten the load here with a little clear gloss but these are pretty thick so be aware).

Sleek MakeUP Pout Paints are a fun little addition to my makeup wardrobe. For me the mixing and creating new shades is a fun little treat! I do think colors on their own will prove a little difficult for the average makeup user to wear however the beauty of the product is you can mix, sheer out, create new colors, even a new formula with the addition of clear gloss…the customizing aspect can’t be beat here.

Quite likey.

Would love to seek Sleek do some softer colors though next round!

What do you think?

Tried ’em already?

Love?

Do share!

I L O V E my lip tars, so I’d really, ideally want to see side-by-side swatches… but it’s nice that these exist! A cheaper alternative is always good (though even for $13 those lip tars last for ever :p). 😀

The red is more than daring, but it’s definitely a must have for all pin-up fans out there 🙂

  • Sarah

I’m testing them right now… unlike you, I love bold lips (among my favourite shades you can find Rebel, Violetta and Show Orchid from MAC), so I love their colours!

I’m wondering if these separate as badly as the lip tars. Also do they have any kind of pepper mint or tingle in them? I’m not really a fan of that in my lip products.

orange flavor logan, I mentioned it in the post 🙂 no tingle. I’m not sure if they will separate. I’ve had them for about a month with no issues yet.

On a side note (talking about lip products) I found out yesterday that Kate Moss is coming out with a line of makeup for Rimmel! My fave brand and fave model more together then ever! I think it’ll be like six lipsticks and some eyeshadow.
