Tarte Soft & Smoky Color Collection Swatches, Photos

Big thanks to Diane tonight for sharing her swatches of the new Tarte Soft & Smoky 5 Piece Color Collection available at Ulta at the moment.

I haven’t had a chance to head to Ulta yet and pick one of these up so her swatches are super helpful for anyone plotting an online order.

The set is $39 and features five full size Tarte products, quite a value peeps!

Check it!

As you can see she even went so far as to compare Glisten with Wonder. I think I need the set for Wonder alone as it looks deeper than Glisten! Gorgeous!

The set is available now at Ulta.com

If you hauled it, would love to hear your thoughts!

And a big thanks again to Diane!

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Thanks for sharing! I’m excited to get this in the mail next week. I’m addicted to Tarte’s Amazonian blushes!

    • Joan

I am also addicted to the Tarte Amazonian blushes. I am always looking forward to new shades to come out. I also started purchasing Maureen’s other cosmetics and love them. Just got the Maracuja oil yesterday from QVC and used it last night for the first time. So far, so good.

Whoa, we can submit guest swatches?!? So cool…

Super random, but I burst out laughing at how the last 2 photos fit together, and then immediately felt really mean for doing so. ^_^

I really dig the blush and the gloss, but I think I’ll pass because the eyeshadows are not really doing anything for me. Plus, I’m already drowning in brushes, mascaras, and black liners. My wallet thanks you, Diane!

    Hi Muse,

Thanks for the swatches 🙂 I looked up the names of the shadow color and they seem to be the same palette as the 3rd 8th World Wonder auto-shipment (referencing your previous post).

ULTA sold out online, and my local store is out of it too. Maybe this means I’ll feel a little better if I can’t get my hands on this, as I’m on auto-delivery for 8th World Wonder kit 🙂

    • the Muse

yup you are RIGHT suzanne ;-D sorry, for some reason I had different shades sent over! ugh! sorry about the confusion chica!

      • Erin

So are the eye colors the same for both the Ulta kit and the 8th wonder kit? I am on auto-delivery as well, but this kit looks awesome too! Such a dilemma.

  • Christina

!!! Its all I can say right now. lol! I love it all, especially the shadows. Some people aren’t a fan of them, but I love them. 🙂 Blush looks great too. I’ve always wanted to try their clay blushers. Thank you Diane and Muse. 😀

  • Marilyn @ Lipgloss and Spandex

Oh man, this set is such a good value. And all of the products look great!

  • Joan

There really are a lot of Tarte fans out there, especially fans of the Amazonian Clay blushes. I, too, am addicted to the blushes. Right now I will have 11 of them when I get my Ulta kit. When I missed out on the QVC TSV and auto delivery for the Tarte 8th World Wonder collections, I searched Ebay and was able to purchase Glisten and Tickled. Was not able to find Adored, but then Sephora came back out with their collection, which has Adored, and I ordered it right away. Same with the Soft & Smoky Color Collection. I think the second it was on Ulta’s website, I ordered it. It’s supposed to be delivered today. I did get the Glow to be Gorgeous TSV with Peaceful and am on auto delivery for October and February kits. Can’t wait. It’s hard waiting for them to come. I will be looking on Ebay for the shade called Passion from the October auto delivery 8th World Wonder kit. I just wish Maureen would come out with more shades in matte finish like the original shades that came out. Great job, Diane, in swatching these products, especially comparing Wonder and Glisten. When I saw the picture of Wonder, I thought it looked a lot like Glisten or Peaceful and was hoping that they weren’t exactly the same and that they just changed the shade name. So happy I found this great website and blog. Wouldn’t have known about many products coming out if not for this blog. Big thanks!

      • Joan

Your welcome. When I go to my favorite Mac counter, they’re amazed that I know about the future collections coming out. They laugh at me, well maybe not at me, with me. I told them about the great blog I subscribed to. Since many of the products in these collections are limited editions, they are nice enough to hold the products for me that I know I want to purchase. I know I missed out on other collections that I didn’t about before I subscribed to your website and blog. Besides, it’s fun reading and blogging with other women who love makeup as I do. I look forward to my daily afternoon e-mail.

  • Kristin

Ah, as I suspected, the eyeshadow quad is the exact same one that will be coming in the October World of Wonder shipment. The shade names are exactly the same as the ones in your post detailing the future autodeliveries.

    • Majick

THat’s a bummer. At least everything else in the kit (aside from mascara and brush) are different. I guess I’ll have to look for someone to take my extra eye palette off my hands.

  • Majick

Thanks Diane for sharing the swatches. I thought it was really cool that you compared WOnder to Glisten. I did the same thing this morning. To tell the truth I couldn’t see that much of a difference when I swatched the two. It’s a great color anyway so I don’t really care.

I thought the eye palette looked very similar to the Bobbi Brown one I got in the TSV a few months ago. I swatched the colors and while a few of them are close they are not the same. Also the Tarte shadows have much more pigment. I like Tarte’s better. JMO

When I first used the lip gloss I thought it tasted weird and I didn’t like the color. BUt WAIT… I put on too much and it just was too goopy for me so I kissed my husband, got a bunch all over him and VIOLA – perfect lips. ha ha It really is a very nice color and the formula is soothing and hydrating to the lips. Thumbs up! So much for the first impression, I say you have to give things a couple of tries before you make up your mind.

I already have a black gel liner and while I like them they are not my total favs – but they are very dark (this is good). Just be careful because even though it’s a pencil, remember it’s a gel and therefore a lot softer than most pencils, tread lightly.

Mascara and brushes are great – nuff said.

The Ulta in Holmdel, NJ still had a couple as of this afternoon. I don’t know if they will ship to you or not.

  • Joan

Does anyone know the names of the shades in the Tarte “Glow to be Gorgeous” auto delivery collection which is going to be shipped October 4th? I would love to see swatches of those shades, especially the blush. Hoping the blush is a matte finish and different from Glisten and Wonder. Tarte needs to make some different shades that don’t look so similar.

  • Joan

I just received the second shipment in the Tarte Glow to be Gorgeous collection from QVC. The blush, Charisma, is pretty, but it is another peachy shimmer shade. I swatched it on my hand with Glisten (shimmer), Peaceful (shimmer) and Wonder (a shimmer from the Tarte Ulta collection). They are all very similar. I was really hoping for a matte finish blush. I also ordered the shade called Passion from the last shipment in the Tarte 8th World Wonder collection from Ebay and that is described as a pink mauve shimmer. What happened to Tarte’s matte finish blushes that first came out and customers all seemed to love?? PLEASE Maureen, more matte finish blush shades!!!!! I am keeping the collection, but I was a bit disappointed when I saw the shimmer in the blush. Has anybody else received it that feels the same as I do?

    • Suzanne

I just received the kit that contains the blush “Passion”. It seems to have shimmer but not noticeable once applied. As for the 2nd shipment of Glow your way to Gorgeous, I’m not sure if I’m going to get it… How did you like the lip luster and the green cream shadow? I was afraid this kit will be too warm (and leaning orange in color). I can’t really pull off orange 🙂

      • Joan

Suzanne: I’m not a green eyeshadow gal, but I swatched it on my hand and I will give it a try. The lip luster is pretty. It is on the peachy side, but just wish it were a touch darker. I love the Tarte lip lusters. I have quite a few of them and love them all. The Charisma blush goes on more coral than peach, at least on my hand. Haven’t worn it yet. I’m hoping, like you say about Passion, the shimmer won’t be noticeable. I also have Passion on order from Amazon. Should get it any day. It’s described as a pink mauve. Is it more pink or more mauve?

        • Majick

I just received mine last night and I would say that Passion (IMO) is more mauve. I didn’t swatch it yet though so I could be wrong.
I ended up getting 3 ADs at the same time (UGH! my credit card) so I have way to much swatching and not enough skin. LOL
I’m looking to play around more this weekend.
I LOVE the lip and blush color in the Glow kit – SO pretty.

      • Joan

Suzanne: Just another quick note about the green eyeshadow. It’s a very subtle green, soft, not bright.

        • Suzanne

Passion is a bit more mauve than pink, I think. The color is medium toned, so on lighter skin tones a lighter hand is needed, during the day. It should be wearable though.

Thanks for the description on the Glow 2nd shipment. Is the Delighted lip luster glittery like the Sweet from 1st shipment?

          • Majick

I don’t think it is. Looking at the outside of the pencil there is that glitter look but when you put the actual product on your lips it just looks slightly shimmery.
I really don’t like glitter but these pencils don’t seem to scream ‘HEY, I just kissed a disco ball.”

  • Suzanne

thanks for the reply! That would be nice. With Sweet, I had a lot of sparkles left on my lips after the color is gone (not a good look) 🙂

Please let me know what you think after you have a chance to try it on. I am quite tempted to fill my order now 🙂

    • Majick

Suzanne, I put it on right before my last response. I just scrutinized my lips. Also, I took a napkin and blotted some of the color off, scrutinized again, then put on more color, then took it off a little again.

I saw literally 2 minute little sparkles. I abhor glitter that sticks to the lips so I know what you are talking about. I don’t have that aversion to this lippie. I did see 2 sparkles but I had to put on my glasses. LOL

I hope this helps you out.

      • Suzanne

Thanks for your help 🙂 I think I should be okay with this lippie… I am thinking I really need to give this kit a try now 🙂

        • Majick

I think you will like it. I just checked my lips again and there was not a stitch of color on them but there also was not a single sparkle left behind. YEA! 🙂
