About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. O.M.G. I’ve been trying to reel up my jaw from where it dropped the moment I saw this post, but I am thus far unsuccessful… .JEEBUZ that is gorg!!!! Must check out the price point, and if it’s not a buzzilion and ten dollars it’s MINE…

Thanks for the heads up Muse! This is AWESOME!

  • Sarah S.

Wow, this is so pretty! Tarte has improved their packaging so much this year <3 This looks so expensive.

  • Geek in Heels

Thanks for sharing this “ it would make the perfect holiday gift for some special ladies in my life!

  • JoElla

That is a lot of goodies for a really great price!
I just might jump on the Tarte bandwagon with this

  • Tammie

I think I might need this x_x. Love all the eyeshadows although I am not sure how often I will use the smoky set, and I have been curious about bronzer and highlighter and these don’t seem to scary! Best of all there are 2 Amazonian blushes, that sound super pretty!!

  • kiwikiwidragon

Mmmm, I will save funds for the love of UD and Too faced. Tarte makes their ES in China and I just can’t get into that…..although this is faboosh and a super deal.

  • Mango the mango

Sooo pretty! I love how they arrange the colors into smaller palettes. Sometimes when I see like 50 colors in 1 set I freeze up when trying to create a look.

  • Crissy K

OMG so many delicious sets coming out for holiday. I think I will wait for the sephora friends and family sale. Doesn’t it come out in October or November

  • Pau

arfgblaghbagh!!! I need this now!! along with that eyeliner set, i just with they had included a navy shade for the eye liner set!!

    • teasha

I bought the eye liner set on-line. The smoke color has a navy sheen to it. It is navy enough that if you like navy, you will love it (I think). It is pewter enough that if you do not like navy, you will still like it.

The smoke and the violet are my favorites from the collection. If you own other qvc kits and are afraid of repeats from the glow your way to gorgeous kit, the fig looks nothing like the colors in the holiday set. I bought the plum separate. The plum and violet are different. Just be aware that sephora describes the black eye liner as a golden black. The muse describes it as a silver black. The muse is correct, it is a silver black (mine is silver black too).

The brown/espresso (however they describe it) is matte. The smoke and moss are shimmer (no glitter, leave a sheen on the skin). The others have micro (fine) glitter. It is not noticeable on the eyes. Just thought I would mention it since some are very opposed to such finishes. The only color that seems to be affected by the micro glitter is the silver black. I had to go over my line twice. Not bad compared to some other brands. Just not used to that with tarte liners. Hope that helps.

Ooh (side note), the moss (holiday kit) goes quite nicely with the green from the eighth world wonder auto-delivery #2.

    What? No lippies?
These colors all look very… unsaturated.

This might be my first time passing on a Tarte holiday collection. I’m sad.

  • dina

eye candy for sure & very interesting format. colors are a bit meh for me but awesome deal!

    • kharanya

Lovely packaging, totally agree about the meh colours. I’m definately hauling the eye pencil kit though, but maintaining iron self control until the Sephora F&F sale. Last time I panicked and bought the jewelery box, then saw loads in stock during the F&F.

  • lexi

I KNOW they better be coming out with this Glory blush on its own -full size. I actually don’t love the rest of it, but I am really interested in the face products.

  • suzie

It’s just too damm bad that Sephore has to tease us until they get their holiday merchandise fully stocked around the mid to end of October.I’ll be checking in daily for these eyeliners because they are the best that i have tried in my 42 yrs of wearing makeup and it just gets more exciting with products like these from Tarte. .

  • Majick

This little box is gorgeous and I really hope I can pass on it. I just received 2 Tarte ADs and a BB and my cc is hurting. I usually don’t have more than 1 showing up in a month. I guess we can thank who ever was in charge of distribution. ANYway…

I also got a free Neutral EYE II palette and won the Femme Fatale (I KNOW I COULDN’t BELIEVE i WON) – so i have quite a few of the Tarte palettes. I also have the True Blood palette.
Can you tell I”m trying to talk myself out of this? LOL

The case is beautiful but I”m afraid it wouldn’t get as much love as it deserves. My LORAC big bang from last year has not been used very much either. It’s sad…

That said, I would love to see swatches when someone gets it.

    • the Muse

majick I kinda feel the same, loved the lorac but don’t give it enough love. I hauled this and will review as soon as it ships!

    • the Muse

not sure hun they look like new shades but I don’t have it in hand so can’t say for sure 🙂 they never name shades so it makes it hard to see if they are new or not :-/

      • Majick

I anxiously await your review. I’m trying really hard not to go nuts. Sephora’s one time use code will def help me do that.

        • the Muse

you can use multiply emails for another code ;-D I understand. sit on your list, wait 24 hours, and ask yourself again in the morning “do I really need it?” it always works and I end up shaving stuff off the list in the end ;D!

    • kharanya

It depends on how large your collection is. I don’t have many eyeshadows at all (Jewelry Box, Naked Palette, True Blood Palette and a couple miscellaneous singles, duos and quads) and I totally passed this over. Honestly, they look pretty basic, but it’s a great kit for someone who can’t dupe most of the shades included.

  • Majick

just watched a video and the lady did swatches, I have to say this could be glitter fallout city. I know they are supposed to be metallic and metallic is hot for the season but I really hate fighting with glitter shadows – real PITA to apply.

Would love to hear more reviews. Thx.

  • Ren

Good. I’m glad that I’m not the only 30-something girl with a huge love of makeup! I was starting to feel lonely. lol About the set though. I just got it and also the True Blood kit by Tarte and I adore both. 🙂

    • the Muse

you aren’t alone ren ;-D gotta love makeup girl no matter your age ;-D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love both those kits ;-D we are almost the same age btw if the number in your email adding is your bday ;D!

        • the Muse

yay we are almost same age girl! I feel like I don’t have alot of reader’s our age ;-D!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although my mentality is prob around that of a 15 year old LOL ;-D aw thank YOU!

  • Majick

OKAAYYYY – can you say EPIC FAIL? Yes, I am the proud owner of the Tarte Starlet Vanity! LOL Somehow I just knew I wouldn’t get away clean. I guess it helps a little that I passed on the UD Mariposa palette. I really liked that little tin and I think only 1 or 2 shades would have been dups for me but… ah well, choices.
I haven’t had too much time to play since I just got it last night and my inlaws were over for dinner. I’ll let you know how I like it. Also, it looked much more glittery on the video I saw. I’ll let you know my thoughts.
One thing – your’ pic shows a #3 EXTEND and my kit had a #2 PRIME. I wonder if they all had a mix? hmm…
Looking at the names of the shadows it appears that some of the colors may have been in some of the palettes we got in the ADs. But they are not identical palettes which is cool.
