Would You Buy It? Cle de Peau Beaute Refining Pressed Powder LX

What’s the most you’ve spent on a pressed powder?

$30? $40? $50?

How about $175…

This silky pressed powder is housed in a specially designed metal case (maybe that’ll make it worth the hefty, near $200 price tag) and is contains a revitalizing moisture complex that allows skin to retain moisture and smoothness.

The kicker?

It’s $175 bucks!

But it includes a refill and a puff, does that make it worth your wild?

Would you buy it?

I’m not sure I’m willing to go there with a pressed powder.

$175 may be a bit my above my budget…

What about you?

No thanks…I felt dumb enough for paying $30 (on eBay) for my 2011 LE MajoMajo Pressed Pore Powder… No regrets but that was definitely my upper limit…

  • Sarah S.

Sure I’ll buy it if it comes with a money-back guarentee that I’ll never get another pimple 😛

  • Barbara

Unless this powder gives me the flawless skin of a 17 year old Eastern European model, then I won’t buy it.

  • BooBooNinja

err… too rich for my blood.
Though with a refill, you are kind of getting a 2-for-1 deal.
So, would I spend $87.50 on pressed powder?
No… it’s still to rich for my blood. 🙂

  • Laci

Absolutely not. I’d rather splurge on something like eyeshadows. LOL $50 is my max and it took me weeks to go through with my purchase of the Chanel powder (even though I really do love it — and use it daily).

“….it took me weeks to go through with my purchase …”

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! I’m glad you love your purchase, though!

Um. No. I’ll stick with my Estee Lauder powder foundation, which already has a hefty enough (to me) $40-something price tag.

  • Stephanie Russo

Mannn…….. I’m so torn on this one – It was really really happypainful when I purchased my YSL MATT TOUCHE COMPACT SPF 20 at $57…. But it’s so so so pretty 🙂 I think my final answer is no – yes I’m sure

I once spent $75 on a pressed powder compact from Yves St. Laurent, but it was absolutely gorgeous & jeweled (and damn, I lost the thing!). I spent about $70 for CDP’s concealer and that thing has lasted me for years. $175 is just outrageous, though. CDP is out of the ballpark as far as price goes.

  • Cynthia

I think I have to pass on the $175 compact. I think I can use the money towards various makeups than just getting one expensive powder compact.

The most expensive compact I ever brought was Dior Powder compact costing me $48.

  • kristin

Unless it makes my face look like it’s photoshopped to Angelina Jolie-like perfection, AND it also washes itself off of my face at night, I think I’ll pass on this and pay a utility bill. LOL

i really think that cle de peau is vastly overrated. In this economy who has that much money to throw around for a powder? i sure as hell don’t. i don’t know a single person who can either.

  • katherine

I would! I love CDP! They have the best makeup ever! I think they are better than Suqqu

  • katrosado

No. Simply wouldn’t spend that kind of money on a refillable compact. I do collect them here and there but this one is too plain for my tastes and not worth the money.

  • Anitacska

No. 🙂 I am willing to fork out around $70 for a Chantecaille pressed powder because they are fab, but this is more than double that, so no thanks. 🙂

  • JCz

If it made me look 20 years younger, clean my house and change the oil in my car, I’d buy 2! Why is everything Cle de Peau makes sooo expensive? I’ll skip it.

  • Maggie

If it will turn straw into gold, mow the lawn, and do everything else described in the Tom Waits song “Step Right Up”, I’ll totally buy it.

  • Luciana

    Whaaat!?
    $175 bucks! Not even Chanel does such a thing ( i gues…)
Im just wondering how much they would sell this powder in Brazil (where i live) if there was a CDP around…

    Im loving your blog!

I would never say never! two years ago I thought 50$ was way too much for a lipstick (Yes i’m talking about Guerlain Rouge G ) and now I have more then ten of those and Yes I fork 75$ for Cle de peu extra silky lipstick so …. maybe one day 😛

  • Cait

Haha there’s no way I could afford it, but if I truly thought it would make my flaky, gross skin flawless I would scrape up the money somehow and buy it. However, I kind of doubt it’s really going to work wonders lol.

How much is my favorite chandel pressed powder? (poudre douce) I think its $50.
It comes with a fabulous brush and so no a refill and a pouf do not entice me to stray. This line is so luxe I want it all but I’ve yet to buy anything from them for fear t hat I would go broke. Plus even with chanel being pricey I could get a powder a lipstick and and an eye shadow quad for less than the price of this one powder. No can do. 🙁
