Bare Escentuals Buxom to Love Review, Swatches, Photos

How the most joyful time of the year turns into a ball of stress and busy is beyond me. But that’s it in a nutshell isn’t it? The Holidays are all about stress, being busy, planning this, being there, being here, getting that done, shopping for this one, shopping for that one…no time for breathing…keep going!

Phew!

I don’t have kids but I imagine it’s even more hectic with children involved in the mix.

There is one thing that doesn’t have to be stressful, your makeup.

The Bare Escentuals Boxom More to Love Set is a five piece selection of goodies for your eyes and lips that will simplify your Holiday look in as little as 5 minutes. Who doesn’t want a five minute makeup application that makes us look festive and fabulous?

Jump!

The joy in this kit is it allows you to apply your make up in a snap and leaves behind an elegant, festive Holiday look. Who doesn’t want super easy to apply makeup that you can get into place in seconds? The only thing you need to add your look is a little blush as you have all the essentials for your eyes and lips in the set.

The set includes five full size products for $42. Purchased separately you’d spend over $80 so this is like getting each item inside for 50% off.

You get:

  • Bare Escentuals Stay-There Eyeshadow in Collie (sparkling champagne)
  • Bare Escentuals Big & Healthy Lip Tarnish in Scandal (dusky mauve)
  • Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black
  • Bare Escentuals Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Clair (diamond/moonlit mauve)
  • Bare Escentuals Insider Eyeliner in Onyx (absolute black)

Stay There Eyeshadow is a bouncy mousse formula that applies and blends easily. Prep your lids with a solid primer so it’ll stay in place for all night partyin’ wear. The shade is a nude sparkling champagne which doesn’t leave behind a ton of color but just enough to give lids a delightfully nude sparkle. This is one of those shades that pairs up beautifully with a lined eye as it doesn’t over do your look.

Both the Boxom Lip Tarnish and the Lip Polish are two great shades of wearable dusky mauve. The Lip Tarnish is a little on the drier side but it fills lips nicely and gives the illusion of pouty lips. Topping with the Lip Polish gives lips a hint of sparkle as well as extra color.

Insider Online I used on my waterline only but those with skill can attempt a lovely cat eye. The liner is creamy, doesn’t skip or tug, and smudges easily.

And finally the Buxom Lash has always proved a favorite of mine. This mascara volumizes and lengthens easily for fatter, longer lashes.

The only beef I had with the collection is the revamp of the Lip Tarnishes. BE has added on a nifty sharpener which I appreciate greatly but its made the pencil a little bit bulkier.

Outside of this minor rant Buxom More to Love has alot to love about it. I love the fact that I can get a fresh look in as little as five minutes using this set! With the stress of the Holidays upon us I’d say a more simple makeup regime is always the order of business.

I liked this set alot.

Muse Approved for purchase. Don’t let it pass you by! It seems a bit uneventful in a sea of beautiful palettes and Holiday sets but it has some great essential items to create a very pretty look for the Holidays.

Likey!

This looks gorgeous on you! I’ve been looking into the Stay There shadows! Probably won’t pick up this set, but I’ll be checking out Pug, probably.

  • Regina

Lookin’ good babe!! Got this through Sephora’s F&F sale and love it. But I love Buxom anyway so this is no surprise 🙂

  • Kris

I’m curious how you would compare the Buxom Stay There cream eyeshadow with Tarte’s cream eyeshadow. Opinion?

    • the Muse

fluffy and mousse-y Kris. Light and creamy. Tarte’s are more dense…harder texture, metallic finish versus the soft shimmer of Buxom’s. I like Tarte’s but dare I say I love these better!

      • Kris

Thanks! I’m off to edit my Sephora shopping cart and add one or two of the Buxom cream shadows!

        • the Muse

they have a four set kris of the shadows 🙂 not sure if the shades appeal to you but it’s a cheaper option! it’s in a black case!

  • kharanya

I got mine just now and tried it on already too! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this set. The texture of that mousse eyeshadow is to-die-for, I think I may very well snap up some more colours. I also got the armed and dangerous pencil set and they haven’t budged after a lot of rubbing. While I do like the look of the lip pencil, I don’t like that you have to sharpen it, otherwise, awesome selection of products.

    • the Muse

yay kharanya so glad you’re enjoying it too! 😀 I thought the sharpen made things bulky! it’s a rather brilliant little set!

  • Sara

Unruly or not, your brows have a beautiful shape. Don’t ever make them pencil thin!!

I seriously love Buxom. You’d never know, since I only recently acquired a gloss (though Sephora’s beauty points), but I’m quite in love with it. I’ve only tried the shadows in Sephora, but they seem pretty awesome too…this set definitely has my attention. Thanks for the heads up! I still haven’t made my F&F purchase (waiting until the last day :p), so this might find its way in to my cart….

    • the Muse

sara that’s actually why they are messy at the moment. I went to a different salon and she did them AWFUL. So thin! I’m growing them back now 🙁 but thank you! you’re lovely 🙂 I think it’s worth adding to your cart. There are so many beautiful holiday sets and palettes and this kinda looks uneventful but it has some super SOLID quality products inside ;-D well worth it imho! I’d have overlooked it easily!

      • Sara

Oh yeah, I agree, it’s nothing spectacular. But solid. Champagney gold shadows are good on everybody, mauvey lip products are pretty universally flattering, and black liner and black mascara are just plain basic necessities. I’d rather get a nice, solid set of stuff I *know* I’ll love rather than take a chance some something flashy that ends up disappointing. It’s happened before. Too many times before.

Good luck on the regrow! I’m terrified of letting anyone touch my eyebrows. Yours’ seem to be recovering nicely. 😀

        • the Muse

hey sara! I agree 🙂 It’s the basics done well! I’m really in love with the set, I’d prob have overlooked it a dozen times as I get so blended by the MEGA palettes ;-D but this has some great products for a great price. Aw thanks! So far, so good, she just went a little too thin with them and I thought they looked heinous :-/

  • kiwikiwidragon

Ahhh….also a reason we haven’t seen you posting too many pics as of late?? They don’t look to bad to me. I have enough hair for 6-8 people but eyebrows….I have like ten hairs, if they over work them = AWFUL. I have mine threaded, waxing kills my skin.

    • the Muse

ha I wish that was the case, I’ve just been swamped. I WISH it was just b/c of my brows LOL! 🙂 The girl I went to butchered me. She just took SO much off. They were pencil thin, it was hideous 🙁 I wish I had ten hairs on my brows, it would be a relief…mine grow all over the place and right across, it’s disgusting. I used to thread but I find the waxing just lasts longer. Threading I seem to get stray hairs growing in within a week and I sit and get over plucky with it. Waxing I can get a solid three weeks. ;-D

  • niamh D

you have a gorgeous eye colour 🙂
love the kit too, sadly i live in Ireland so no chance!

    • the Muse

aw thanks niamh! 🙂 I appreciate the lovely comment! Wish you guys get it!

Looks like a great set for a 5 minute face. I’ve been getting a similar look using Stila’s Prime Pot in Taffy (100 pt perk sephora last week). I love this stuff – evens out the skintone on my eyelids, makes them brighter, and doubles as shadow or primer for shadow. THen a quick swipe of Tartes new liquid eyeliner pen in black on the top lid, followed by either Lancome Doll lash mascara or tartes, and some Urban Decay Super Saturated lip color (I got punch drunk, crush, and F-Bomb).

great fast face and I”m really loving the UD lippies – I loves me a BOLD lip! 🙂

    • the Muse

ugh I SO WANTED to love those primer pots but they made me look tired sad sad sigh! ;-D great fast face though ;-D the UD SS LC is an amazing pencil ;-D!
