Bare Minerals A Toast to Tints Review, Swatches, Photos

A few days some of Bare Escentuals Holiday 2011 Collection popped into my mail box. One of the items included in the envelope that I tore open with my teeth was the new A Toast to Tints Trio.

Now…I wasn’t really reading at the time, I was merely foaming at the mouth, teeth bared, and OMG so excited about NEW MAKEUPZ so I didn’t read the box on these tints, I simply ripped them out of their packaging, and started applying to my lips like a mad woman. Promptly after I scrunched up my face and mouthed, “Ewww! WTH?!”

I wasn’t particularly keen on the formula…

Jump!

Here’s the thing, in my excitement I was under the impression these were a lipgloss but they are actually a lip tint. Ooooo! I was blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce…isn’t that a song?

The formula as a gloss kinda threw me for a curve ball. It was silicon-like, felt strangely like a powder jelly (think of mixing a bit of powder with a jelly product). What’s this? What lipgloss formula sports this odd texture?

After calming down and taking time out to read the box, my “Ew!” changed to an “Oooo!”

Correct me if I am wrong but has Bare Minerals every done a lip tint? Fact, I do believe Bare Minerals Hydrating Lip Tint are a brand new product and the best part would be you get three generously sized ones to try out in the A Toast to Tints Set.

I happen to love stains and these take stains to a new level. The formula proves uncomfortable and strange at first…perhaps a little heavy on my lips but I think you can probably grow to love these within a few minutes of trying them. Yes, you do get an odd thick jelly feel which kinda has that strange silicon glide but that turns into a hydrating, long wearing lip tint to get excited about. After you get used to the texture of the tint you’ll find it hydrates lips nicely, doesn’t dry them out, and has a nice moisturizing finish with just a touch of shine. I think stains for alot of people are a no because you fear they’ll either dry your lips out or make your dry lips look worst. No problems whatsoever with these. Bare Minerals has somehow created the perfect hybrid lip stain that works at staining lips a delightfully natural shade of color and keeps them hydrated at the same time.

Each tint has a slanted, flat tipped applicator which builds color beautifully. These have a vanilla-ish, floral taste that I wasn’t particularly sold on but nothing too unpleasant. I thought the 0.18 oz size was quite generously sized as well.

One of the cool things about the tint was that long after the hydrating effect is gone your lips will remain stained without having a dry, cracked look.

You get three shades:

  • Splash: This looks like a warm shade of orange-y peach but it doesn’t apply as strongly on lips and leaves behind a more delicate shade of warm peach on lips.
  • Juicy: This one is a bolder shade of raspberry but gives lips a crushed berry finish.
  • Quench: This is a dark berry shade which gives lips a natural flush of berry red.

Overall, these are indeed the toast of my lip stash at the moment. I was utterly delighted with the formula, long wear time, and I forgot to mention the cute ornament packaging (hang them on your Beauty Tree). I admit these surprised me…!

Likey!

Muse Approval for these ones, they just prove to be a unique lip tint that needs to be tried!

P.S. I’ll update you on a price shortly and where to buy.

Hi muse, do these tints have a strong or strange smell? I ask because the moxie glosses that come in the upcoming be tsv smell nasty and now I’m a little hestitant to try some of the other new items.

    • the Muse

it’s a vanilla-ish floral scent/smell Julie can’t compare to the moxie ones sadly as I haven’t tried. It’s not a heavy smell but I’m not keen on the taste :-/
