Jesse’s Girl Eye Color Collection 9 Pan Eye Shadow Compact Review, Swatches, Photos

Money saving divas put your hands up.

I’ve always been a bit of a beauty snob but I started venturing into drugstore beauty around the same time I migrated to the WordPress Platform. I wanted Musings to be a place where you can find both high end, low end, and beauty abroad purchases. I wanted to bring variety to you guys and in doing so I ended up opening the door for myself as well because at one point I’d turn my nose up at budget beauty but I readily admit you can score a deal on occasion.

My latest beauty budget purchase is the new Jesse’s Girl Eye Color Collection Palettes.

Take a look!

A budget nine pan shadow palette.

If you’re trying to save a little cash (who isn’t?) the Jesse’s 9 Pan Eye Shadow Compact is $3.99 and doesn’t have too bad a formula. The one I have here is called The Eyes Have It and features a graduating color scheme that has cooler shades of blue that head into the realms of darker forest greens and browns. The way the palette fades form light to dark definitely works visually but in theory I find combining light sky blue and softer aqua blue with darker shades of green and brown a touch on the odd side.

I happen to love browns and greens on my eyes so this was a very appealing palette overall outside of the rant above. Colors include a ton of forest-y and olive greens plus some lovely shades of rich, chocolate-y browns. Brown and green contrasts beautifully on eyes so the combination of colors works very nicely however alot of the shades do appear similar once applied on my eye.

The palette is Made in China and I may sound a touch crazy but the shadow formula has that “made in China” texture. It’s kinda chalky and velvety…don’t let chalky sway you though as the shadows apply decently on my lid and blend out easily plus they work well together and I had no issues with the shades going muddy when combined together. The compact comes with a dual sponge applicator which you can dampen a tiny little bit for a more vibrant finish with the shadows. I think the texture of the shadows might be appealing to users with oily lids since they do have a powder-y feel that could easily soak up excess oil however they do need a good base under them for longer, extended wear time as wearing without results in bad creasing.

Color did stay true throughout the day when I wore them over Urban Decay Primer Potion and I experienced no issues with creasing. For $3.99 that is impressive performance considering many shadows like this eventually lose their vibrancy and fade as the day progresses but these stayed true to color.

I put alot of emphasis on packaging myself. Who doesn’t want lovely packaging? This is a tiny case without a mirror and made up of flimsy plastic but honestly it is $3.99 so you’re not going to get deluxe packaging here!

I thought the shade selection was perfect however the addition of light sky blue and the lighter aqua was a tad mismatched with the other more richer, darker shades in the compact as I mentioned above.

I haven’t personally had the pleasure of seeing Jesse’s Girl in any of my drugstores so I did order online and had to pay shipping. If you’re lucky and do have the brand at your local drugstore that’s great but for the masses who don’t, online ordering plus shipping is just a hassle as it isn’t much of a budget anymore.

  • Those on a budget looking for a budget friendly palette with shades of color that will compliment brown eyes beautifully.
  • Those wanting a range of budget shadows that work well together, blend well, and have nice pigmentation.

  • Those who enjoy higher end makeup (it’s a given if you’re used to higher end makeup products, this one isn’t for you).
  • Those who aren’t keen on Made in China makeup products.

At $3.99 there’s alot of joy to be found in this little eyeshadow compact. The range of colors complimented my brown eyes beautifully and the shades worked well together (sometimes palettes have a terrible selection of colors that simply don’t work well together). I thought some of the shades did look similar on my lid when applied but you can definitely create a nice selection of looks with these shades. It has quirks that might turn you off such as the packaging but if you’re not too big a nit picker you’ll likely think the palette a nice little bargain. The only thing that truly bugs me is that I had to pay shipping but outside of that if you can find them at your drugstore they are a nice little deal.

Likey!

I have this one too, and I had to get it dispite of the blue…I don’t like icy blues and I thought it was weird as well, but the other colors are so nice and it was cheap enough! I like this well enough, although I don’t usually reach for it, I do think it’s well worth the $3.99 too though 🙂

same here tam! they made me look tired, too pastel. I think they want you to use as a lower lash shade but that makes things even worst…outside of that the colors aren’t bad at all particularly for the $3.99 price tag. I don’t either as I have too many similar shades but def think it’s a nice bargain!

Everytime Ive gone to rite aid Ive been so tempted by these but after seeing how powdery the light colors look I am super glad that I passed on these, that and light blues make me look dead…

that is a STUNNING eye look on you! Probably one of my favorites…I love the green over the brown, it’s a great way to work in some color without it being too much.

Thanks so much for this review! I’ve seen these palettes many times at my local Rite Aid and passed them by as I’ve never heard of the brand and wasn’t sure how the quality would be. It’s great finally knowing they’re worth a pick up! Gotta love a good beauty bargain.
