NP Set It Takes Two Concealer and Foundation Pot Review, Swatches, Photos

Today’s post is brought to you by Soundgarden because I’m having a retro Chris Cornell moment this morning.

What’s on your play list today?

As for my makeup play list it contains NP Set It Takes Two Concealer and Foundation Pot.

Check it!

A dual packaged foundation and concealer product all in one!

I gotta say I generally like the idea of a concealer and a foundation in a single package. It’s travel friendly, easy to store, and it just makes sense to me to have both products in one place.

NP Set It Takes Two Concealer and Foundation Pot is a well thought on product in terms of packaging. First off you get the joys of having a bottle of creamy foundation with a nifty little spatula. Yay…someone remembered we don’t like touching liquid products for fear of germs and bacteria so they included a cap that comes with an attached spatula to remove foundation from the bottle. Smart people, smart! We likey! Secondly, they gift us with a cap that not only contains a full size mirror but also concealer. This packaging appeals to me in a major way it’s just fuss-free and travels easily plus I don’t have to worry about digging around in my everyday makeup drawer to locate my foundation and my concealer…it just makes life easier.

It’s sadly far from perfect formula wise but it has perks. I find the foundation is a nice creamy base that manages to glide onto skin without a hiccup. It blends very nicely and doesn’t have a greasy, oily feel or finish. The product has a silky, semi-matte feel that leaves my skin plenty of room to breath. Coverage is a bit on the meh side as you’re not getting full coverage or even medium coverage here….I personally don’t like majorly pigmented foundation. I prefer my foundation to even out my skin tone and ease dullness but not leave behind a mask-like appearance or feel and this manages to do that. It absorbs easily, eases dullness, and leaves behind a good working canvas for my other makeup. However, problem skin might feel the coverage is a bit too light, a bit too subtle, and not enough coverage. I like the formula alot however the shade selections are limited to light, medium, and dark. Light proves way too light for me and medium proves way to muddy beige and dark, obviously, isn’t an option.

The concealer is a bit of a disappointment here as not only is the shade WAY too dark but the formula is also very sheer. The formula proves emollient and easy to work so it does take pity on drier eyes however my dark circles, puff, and other woe aren’t easily concealed here as the subtly of the color pay off proves impossible to tackle minor issues never mind full scale issues like dark circles. I do like the idea that they placed a tiny star in the middle of concealer, cute but also completely functional…..this isn’t just for decorative purposes…the star is actually a white highlighting cream that you can use on your highbrow area or cheek bones, nifty right? In my swatch photos the concealer is on the right hand side….The makeup world has always been of the mentality that your concealer should be a shade or two lighter than your concealer not a shade or two darker than it….?!?

Sadly, the duo comes up short on a few things….

Lack of color selection is a big let down as if you aren’t falling into their idea of what light, medium, and dark skin tones should be, well, you’re out of luck as that’s about the gist of their shade selection. Three shades, nada else to choose from.

Although a great foundation with a nice creamy formula sans greasiness it offers very subtle color payoff that doesn’t easily build so if you have problem skin, acne, or other woe this won’t be your foundation of choice. However, if you’re more for a lighter coverage foundation, like me, you’ll enjoy this.

The concealer proves the less than stellar product here as it just made my eyes look tired due to the very unflattering muddy beige shade plus it has a difficult time taking on harder concealing tasks like dark circles.

  • Those who like lightweight, less than pigmented foundation (personally I do so this formula is quite nice but sadly their color selection simply doesn’t work for me).
  • Those who like the idea of having a concealer and foundation in a single packaging!

  • Those who need a full coverage concealer.
  • Those who need a full coverage foundation.
  • Those who do not fit into the light, medium, or dark color scheme (who does? Color variety is key with foundation!).
  • Those unwilling to dish out near $40 for a foundation product (at $35 this isn’t cheap).

NP Set It Takes Two Concealer and Foundation Pot has the potential for greatness. I liked the formula, alot…but the color selection is too limited and none of the three shades they offer fit me sadly. Secondly, I loved the idea of having my concealer and foundation in one place but only if both products are brilliant formula wise and sadly, the concealer in this lot is the weakest link as I wasn’t too keen on the lighter coverage it provided.

Sadly, the entire duo needs alot of work….perhaps a range of more colors and an improvement on the concealer formula is a good place to start plus a little shave off the price, this isn’t Chanel, $35 is a bit too much to indulge.

This has potential that much I’ll give it!

    Slightly OT but…

I love “Black Hole Sun” with a passion but that video scared the living $#@#$ out of me…I literally was only able to watch it once and wish I was able to scrub it out of my head with brain-bleach. I don’t know what the band was thinking when they came up with the concept for that video!
