Sleek Makeup Molten Metal Metallic Eyeshadow Duo Review, Swatches, Photos

Whipping out your best smoky eye for the holiday season?

I’m not. Dude, smoky totally makes me look tired lately. I’m whipping out my best brown smoky eye…

However, those rocking the traditional smoky eye might want a little extra helping hand and a solid base with a little drama. Bring in the Sleek Makeup Molten Metal my little flying monkeys, yeah, I have flying monkeys around doing my bidding, I roll like that.

Jump!

Molten Metal isn’t a new product but the shade Steel and Ash is.

What the heck is Molten Metal anyway? It’s a Metallic Eyeshadow Duo in a cream formulation with an intense pigmentation. Yeah, we are talking serious color pay off here. The formula is pretty dreamy and creamy, blends out in a snap, and builds up easily. Granted, Sleek made them to use on their own but they make a fabulous little base for powders, pigments, and other loose media as well so your traditional smoky look will be a snap to apply.

The finish is pretty dramatic with the gunmetal grey shade having a liquid metal finish and just the right amount of sparkle and the silver also has a crisp shimmer. Application can prove a little tricky at times so a little patience is required to build the color up. I find the first blend is a bit patchy but the product remains soft to the touch so you can easily build it up on a second pass. It sets fairly slowly so give it a chance to dry down prior to adding your eyeliner and mascara to the mix. A proper base is definitely required to avoid creasing drama.

On their own you can easily create a full traditional smoky eye in an instant. With powders added into the mix you can get a more dramatic and creative finish. Either way you use the product I think you’ll be quite pleased with the results.

Overall? Joyful product but I’d like to see Sleek do them in some other shades…they already have a gold available but count me in for a brown duo! I’d be on it all crazy like.

Available now at www.sleekmakeup.com for a mere $10 bucks. Sleek ships to the US.

These are the ‘colors’ that looks best on me. I’ve always been curious about these, so thanks for the cool review! I would totally wear silver over my collarbones and cheekbones too because I’m crazy for color.

I have the gold and love it! I used it to recreate that gold leaf eye makeup look that Emma Watson had at one of the last HP premieres. That was a popular look and a lot of tutorials for it used gold leaf paper – I just used the gold molten metal on a really fine brush to create spots and it really had a gold leaf effect! I haven’t used it much…. definitely a product I’ll only break out for special looks, but happy to have it. I have a handful of Sleek blushes and 7 palettes. Their eyeshadows beat anything else I’ve tried, including high-end. And I live in the US so the fact that I’m willing to pay $13 shipping says it all! (Although of course I try to place large orders. hehe.)
