Sula Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow Review, Swatches, Photos
Sula has a new color collection available at Ulta. This is a budget friendly collection of lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadows, and more for $8 each. I recently tried one of the lipglosses and was quite pleased.
Anyone try yet?
Here’s a look at the new Sula Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow.
Jump!
A range of cream color eyeshadows with a long wearing formula.
Sula Beauty cream shadows are a surprisingly easy to blend formula made with natural ingredients that’s free from parabens, phthalates and petroleum.
I’ve read some poor reviews on these and most of what you may have heard or seen is right as the formula does suffer an ickle bit but I’ll tell you more about that in a second.
Each shadow comes in a small glass pot ala MAC Paint Pots. I’m always a little wary of packaging like this as I have had both gel eyeliners and Paint Pots from MAC that have dried out in the past with this style packaging. Formula sometimes suffers as well with glass packaging for some reason or another but I guess it all depends how and where you store them.
Pots are 0.15 oz each at $8 versus a MAC Paint Pot which is $17.50 for 0.17 oz. Price wise you are getting a deal here particularly because these are on sale at Ulta for $6.50 at the moment…of course, formulation isn’t quite the same and really if you aren’t getting a good formula than the price isn’t necessarily worth it.
I purchased Hard to Get which is a beautiful shimmering gold. I found the formula very easy to work with. Although dense it still manages to have a creamy, lightweight texture that blends easily. It creates a nice subtle glint on my eyes. It doesn’t have a ton of pigmentation although it does build easily enough for more drama. As a base for powder shadow it works quite nicely as well and adds a certain vibrancy when worn under powders.
It does have issues though…
Worn alone or with powder it creases terribly….If I wear it on its own with primer I find color fades, creases, and disappears within two hours at most. The wear time is disappointing. As a base wear time isn’t much better….I wore primer, a bit of this, and a powder on top and it really causes issue with powder shadows. I normally don’t have a problem with powder eyeshadow but this made them crease rather badly.
Although I only purchased one shade I did swatch a few others in store and color pay off is disappointing in some of the more darker shades such as the greens, blues, etc….
- Anyone looking for a cheap thrill (this isn’t too bad a formula if you can deal with the shorter wear time).
- Those with oily lids.
- Those who want a long wearing cream shadow.
Sula needs to drop the creaseless from the name because that simply isn’t the case. Wear time is very weak here and proves disappointing considering the formula proves mighty nice with an easy to blend, smooth application. I think Hard to Get will be a nice shadow for a quick wash of color however I better make sure to wear it on days I don’t plan on being out for long periods of time because it’s sure to crease and fade away within a few hours….
Sigh.
Sula has a winner here if, indeed, it was truly creaseless but sadly it’s not.
