Victoria’s Secret Hypnotic Beauty Eye Palette Mirage Review, Swatches, Photos

Victoria’s Secret introduced two Deluxe Eye Palettes with their Fall 2011 Collection, Hypnotic Beauty.

Each of the shadow palettes feature five shades of shadow in a gold plated case.

Let’s take a look at Mirage, one of the two shade selections available.

An eyeshadow palette featuring five shades of shadow.

This palette is an ickle expensive at $26 bucks..I can’t help but think of other, higher end pieces I could be hauling with that near $30 price tag. Eep!

But…

It is kinda sorta a nice piece. I’m generally a fan of Victoria’s Secret Limited Edition Collection and the Hypnotic Beauty had some very nice pieces including these palettes.

Packaging wise I was a little disappointed with other pieces in the collection and complained about how flimsy it was….in the case of the shadow palette we get much of the same but they do have a little weight behind them so it’s not a total bust. This is a long, rectangle palette with a full size mirror plus a two dual sided brush. The face plate has a Moroccan print in blue, purple, and turquoise.

Inside you’ll find six shadows in gold, golden tan, bronze-y copper, periwinkle, and rich, chocolate brown. The colors…they are really nice shades however they are a tad ho-hum compared to other shades I already have in my stash as there isn’t anything really unique or special about them. Formula wise they have a smooth, velvety feel that blend easily with a decent color pay off. They actually work well together as I expected them to go a tad muddy when I combined but I had no issues or hiccups.

I was happy to see that Victoria’s Secret included easy to follow instructions for creating a look using the palette that’s printed right on the back of the palette.

The thing is…

I thought the colors were a tad mismatched. They suggest using the periwinkle blue in the outer v with the copper all over the lid and the golden tan in the crease, line with the chocolate, and highlight with the gold….I was not really keen on combining the blue with the more nude, natural shades so I ended up just using all the other shades and skipped out on the blue.

  • Anyone looking for a nice selection of shadows housed in one place.

  • Those who aren’t interested in purchasing an uneventful palette for near $30.
  • Those wanting a vibrant eye look (these shades are more subtle, not in your face).

There isn’t a thing wrong with the Victoria’s Secret Hypnotic Beauty Eye Palette. The shadows have nice pigmentation with a smooth, buttery texture that blends easily, the packaging is lovely, and you can get some very nice looks here…however, I do find it all a tad ho-hum and uneventful on a whole. I can think of several hundred shades like this that I already own that have a much better pop…these colors are a tad subtle compared to ones I already own like them. I don’t have any issues with the quality here but the palette is just a little boring and the $26 price tag hurts my feelings….I’d feel alot more love for it, if they stuck it at say $18.

Did you pick one up?

Love it?

those are pretty colors on you Muse!
Just think, that palette is even MORE expensive in Canada! *boo*! I had purchased the other one and then decided I didnt want it for that price tag because I have similar shades, maybe not in the same palette, but this is not worth the dollahs in my opinion!
    thanks for the review, Muse!

Aside from the colors not being particularly unique, I think they released also released a Moroccan themed holiday collection in 2009. If I remember correctly…

yup the Heidi Collection…that was actually better in terms of packaging!

Those colors look a lot like some of the colors from one of the hello kitty pallets from MAC, do you think that they can be possible dupes?

ITA $26 is way too much. Their makeup is quite nice, but geez Louise! VS has also raised the prices of their Beauty Rush line, boo!!! I was sad when I went there a few weeks ago to grab a few BR goodies and they rang up at 3/$21 or $10 each. I had been there just a few days before that visit and put off getting the blushes and shadows I wanted, of course not knowing the prices were gonna go up in just a couple days, and I’m sad now *booboo face*
