Bare Minerals Bare Luxury 8 Piece Collection Review, Swatches, Photos

I gotta say at first glance bareMinerals Bare Luxury 8 Piece Collection is kinda strange. I think we all thought the palette included with this was a little mismatched and strange…I mean a soft golden bronze with a delicate shade of lilac? What in the world is BE thinking?

But I discovered the genius behind this set after using it…!

Take a look!

Contrary to my belief (and maybe to yours) BE doesn’t want you to use these shades together. They created their new QVC Today’s Special Value so you can get TWO great looks from one single palette.

Bare Escentuals is on QVC all weekend long and for today only you can get the bareMinerals Bare Luxury 8 Piece Collection for $49.98. You can take advantage of a one time shipment or you can indulge in the auto delivery option which entitles you to three more shipments with new seasonal shades. For eight pieces which includes two lipglosses, blush, eyeshadow, two eyeliners, brushes and a clutch…this is a mighty deal for $50 bucks. Since it’s all decked out with gorgeous mirrored compacts in gold it makes a lovely little gift for a good friend or family member. How great would it be to get the set on auto delivery for your mother or a good friend? It’s kinda the gift that keeps giving as she’ll get the first shipment from you and you can surprise her with the other shipments in the upcoming months of April, July, and October.

Logically speaking I had assumed at first glance that the Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 Palette was to be used together but actually they created the kit in a way that you can get a warm and a cool shade from the single palette since they include complimentary shades of eyeliner and gloss to be used in two separate looks. The palette is entitled The Phenomenon with two shades of shadow in Azure Iris and Golden Iris. I love BE for naming not only the palettes but also each individual shade inside of it. Golden Iris is a soft shade of bronze-y amber with a soft velvety finish where as Azure Iris is a delicate matte shade of lilac. I’ve reviewed Ready Eyeshadows prior to this so I won’t get it alot of detail about the formula but I will say they are nicely pigmented, blend easily, and leave behind a smooth, gorgeous color finish. Even matte finishes in this pressed formula has a soft, silky feel which is saying something considering that normally mattes and I don’t get along very well.

Also in the kit you’ll receive two Bare Minerals Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliners, this is where the magic happens in regards to how you want to create your look. I think that the 10 PM (this is a brown shade with hints of gold) best works with Golden Iris (this is what I used to create my look below) and you can use Noon (this is a rich royal blue) in conjunction with Azure Iris to create a more cooler look. Of course, you can pair these up anyway you want but I thought they were best suited as mentioned. The name of the liner is quite fitting as truly they wear long and strong. They have a creamy feel that glides on the lashline easily and smudges iut just as nicely. I can get can all day wear out of them without fading or smudging issues and at least 5 hours on my waterline before I see some minor wear (my eyes are drier, oily eyes might see a difference in the wear). I wore them in the rain a few days ago and had no problems with them budging either, they have a nice strong hold.

BE was nice enough to include two full sizes of their newest lip product, Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss. These have a slanted tip applicator with sheer formula, they build easily so you can definitely get a fuller color experience with a few layers of product in place. They do have a strong, minty, cinnamon cocktail taste and smell. I didn’t mind the taste at all but I have heard a few rants about it so if you’re a bit sensitive to fragrance and flavor in your glosses this is worthy of a mention. The gloss has a nice grip without being overly tacky or sticky and I saw about four hours of wear from it before needing a touch up. The shades you get are Wild One which is a golden nude peach and Dare Devil which is a ruby berry.

The set also includes a favorite of mine which is Rose Gold Radiance, this acts as your blusher in the kit. I own this shade already and it happens to be an HG (holy grail) for me since it proves one of the easiest face products to apply in my stash since it never looks overly done no matter how heavy handed you or how much you apply you can always get a soft, natural flush of glowing on cheeks and face. The shade is a dusky rose with subtle hints of a golden sheen. It’s very fresh and natural on cheeks!

And finally you also get a face and an eyeshadow blush, a gorgeous lame clutch, and instructions for application. I’m always quite pleased with BE brushes as they have a soft feel and no issues with shedding. I particularly like these brushes due to the lovely gold mirror handles, they have a rather elegant, festive feel! The clutch is a nice little extra as well and of course, needless to say, I love anything that includes how to get the look instructions and this has a simple, easy to follow guide for creating two looks!

Overall, the Bare Minerals Bare Luxury Collection is a nice little steal today on QVC. It’s only this price for today only so best grab it while the grabbing is good!

I went with the warmer shades when creating my look with the set. I did one with liner and one without so you can see how natural it looks without and how it gets a little dressier with a bit of liner (the first two photos feature me with liner and the second set features without).

Very Muse Approved for purchase as it’s a value, creates some lovely little looks, and makes a perfect gift for the makeup lover in your life.

Have you hauled it already?

What do you think of the set?

So how is Moxy compared to Buxom – I’m addicted to Buxom so I wondered about these too.

When they were talking about it last night on QVC, Leslie said it was a Vanilla Mint – now, I don’t remember Buxom having the vanilla quality to it? Can you taste it in Moxy?

I ask because I absolutely hate vanilla 🙁

    • the Muse

moxie feels different to me. Buxom is thicker, shinier…moxie is drier if that makes sense and has a bit of a silicon feel, it kinda goes on patchy at first but smooths on. Buxom is mint as I recall? Yes, I get vanilla, mint, a little cinnamon, I stated in the post that it was strong 🙂

This is probably the most intrigueing bare minerals set I’ve ever seen… I like easy, go-to looks and the sparkly bag is nice 🙂

Forgot to add… I could totally make the lilac work with the bronze in one look 😉

Definitely a lot of product for $50, and I love the idea of getting two looks out of one set! The brushes & clutch are very pretty too – you’re right, it would make an amazing gift!

  • Harshleen

Both the lip glosses and rose gold powder look pretty! love the clutch too…..

I have and love this kit .My favorite way to use the eyeshadows is to layer the shadows, one on top of the other, to get a 3rd gorgeous color. I also love the the lip glosses. Great kit. Great value.

I just love this kit. A lot of newness for BE with the Ready shadows, waterproof liners (I like the original liners but the staying power lacks a bit). Also, the Moxie glosses. I find them to be a cross between the natural lip glosses and Buxom – due to the tingling/flavor (but lighter as you mentioned, Muse). Had to sign up for the a/d kits as I look forward to them – it’s one of my splurges. 🙂 The clutch is very cute and usable, and the sparkle on the bag is in the fabric, so it does not rub off at all.

That’s a stunning collection. I love every single color until I get to the Azure Iris hooo boy that’s some kind of cool isn’t it? My skintone said yikes. LOL it’s beautiful.

Ha ha Sarah S., me too, don’t you love a challenge? LOL

I”m really excited about this TSV. And I almost didn’t get it – I put it in my cart at about 2 minutes to 12 – waiting for the show AND I WAS A DAY LATE! lol Luckily I was able to keep the TSV price even though when I placed my order it was after midnight.

    • Sarah S.

Yeah, I can’t back down from a color combo challenge! lol 😉
Dang it, I wish I had done the same! Glad it worked for you, though 🙂
