The Bobbi Brown Party Collection should have totally been released mid December, true story. The collection just feels like a New Year’s Eve Collection which is unusual as not many makeup companies are pimping out such a seasonal release.

This collection is inspired by Bobbi’s memories as a child of her mom applying makeup at the bathroom mirror.

I so don’t have those types of memories since my own mother is a very no nonsense type of gal. I actually just got her into applying a smidge of Tarte Cheek Tint.

One of the exciting parts of this collection for me was the introduction of the Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick. I personally always had a love/hate relationship with Shimmer Bricks because I tend to overdo application which results in Disco Fever…! But who can resist this unique Shimmer Brick which is imprinted with a martini glass and shaker.

Unlike Bobbi’s traditional Shimmer Bricks which are made up of several strips of color, the Party Shimmer Brick is a study in simplicity, choosing to focus on two shades instead of several.

The Brick is split down the center and includes a true shimmering gold and looks are deceiving but that isn’t silver you’re seeing on the other side, it’s actually a white shimmering gold.

I like this Shimmer Brick because it offers not only the option to combine the two shades but also use the shades separately as both a highlighter for your face combining the two shades, using them individually, or as a wash of soft color on your lids.

Shimmer Bricks are nice in general if you know how to use them correctly (I’m not a great expert at highlighting) but I find this one offers an easy application method as you’re not working with a ton of shades and can concentrate on a single color if you so please.

Combined together you get a very soft golden glimmer. The shade reflects white gold on cheek bones and has a soft shimmering effect that isn’t too overly done so long as you blend out correctly. The powder has a soft, silky texture as well and so far after a few swipes I’m loving that the design hasn’t budged since it’s rather deeply etched in.

Overall, the Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick is easily something Bobbi fans will want to haul. It’s unique and different for Bobbi which gives it some collector’s value for those who take their makeup love to that level (I do, nothing wrong with wanting to keep a few of your favorite pieces in the old beauty vault). As for the normal people who aren’t collector’s it offers a softly focused highlighting on cheeks and face while multitasking as an eyeshadow if you like!

Loves it.

Quite worth picking up in my humble opinion.
