E.LF. Cosmetics Healthy Glow Shimmer Powder for Holiday 2011 Review, Swatches, Photos

Have a highlighter list a mile long but simply can’t afford the steep prices?

E.L.F to the rescue. They’ve packaged up their Healthy Glow Shimmer Powder for the Holidays and slapped an inexpensive price tag on it.

Take a peek!

Ok, cute packaging but I’m very confuddled why they dub this a body shimmer and proceed to slap a face tag on it (see on the top? The little tag that says “face”).

Either way, as far as I’m concerned, you can use it on your face or body!

E.L.F. did a fairly nice job of packaging their Holiday sets as these come in a glittery silver box with cute bow accents. I don’t get a cheap feel from this in the least and it does give an overall nice presentation.

The box holds a small kabuki brush and a golden beige shimmer powder. I was surprise that the golden shimmer runs straight through the powder here so you’re not left with a fine over spray but a gorgeous highlighting powder straight through. All that sparkle is probably a touch overdone for your face but with a lighter hand you can accent certain areas of your face with this. The powder’s formula proves silky and easy to apply. It leaves behind a golden peachy beige sheen with flecks of gold shimmer wherever you buff it. Legs, chest, face…anywhere you want a little glow you can buff this into place.

The kabuki isn’t the softest in the world but it didn’t have shedding or splitting issues and works best when used as a body brush.

At $3, you can honestly find a little bit of love to give this set particularly if you’re on a budget and simply can’t dish out $50 or more dollars on a higher end highlighting powder. It’s not entirely bad and would make a sweet stocking stuffer for a teenager or younger girl (or boy).

Granted, if you’re more of a higher end girl you’ll find flaws with the set but if you enjoy beauty budget purchases you’ll probably think the $3 is well spent.

Really pretty glow! Looks like an opalescent white-gold with flash. So pretty. But…it doesn’t beat using shimmery unwearably white shades of lipstick as luminizer.

I’ve been wondering about this product. I keep looking at it any time I go by the display. Now I can make a better decision if I really want to make a small splurge on it. Although, since I’ve barely started getting into highlighters and didn’t realize I have three in my drawer, I can probably hold off.

Maybe I’m just really cheap but…I’d rather pay 1 dollar for just the powder then have the crappy brush (sorry people who love elf brushes they are great for beginners but they aren’t really good or soft, and I use EcoTools and love em to pieces).

I like elf, but too bad a lot of their products are made in China.

Logan, have you tried their concealer brush? It’s only a dollar and it works great!
