Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Tint Bar Review, Swatches, Photos
Seems like everywhere I look lately some brand has a new tinted lip product available. I guess we are all into lightweight lip products thus these brands deliver.
I was a little wary of checking out Korean Brand, Holika Holika’s Aqua Petit Jelly Tint Bar since I wasn’t really all that big a fan of DuWop Icedteas nor did I love on Maybelline Pop Sticks. Both brands had the potential to create a really great tinted lip product but sadly both failed to impress me.
Let’s take a peek at Holika Holika Tint Bar and see how it weights against others of its kind.
Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Tint Bar is a translucent lip balm with a hint of taste and color. This comes in three shade selections and two formulas. Cherry and Orange Kiss offer moisture and a hint of tint while Pink Plumping offers moisture and a plumping effect.
As tempting as it was to grab all three I settled on purchasing one which was the Cherry Kiss. The product is supposed to give you “jelly, bouncy” lips. Obviously this doesn’t translate well but it’s safe to say they mean it’ll moisturize dry lips and give a slick feel.
Presentation is cute althouugh a bit immature if you’re more of a high end girl. This comes in a lightweight plastic aqua tube with pink writing. It swivels up as any lipstick would to reveal translucent red balm. There are small flecks of gold glitter in the mix here but they don’t appear on lips or at least not on mine during application.
The product proves as disappointing as Pop Sticks and Icedteas in the fact it’s a hard texture that doesn’t have a shiny finish or a slick feel. The harder texture doesn’t warm up so it kind drags uncomfortably across my lips. The cherry or fruity taste is very subtle and practically none existent.
On the plus side this gives a more natural color payoff than both Duwop and Maybelline’s version. DuWop has a more subtle color payoff and Maybelline proved difficult to get any color but Tint Bar has a nice, subtle flush of color that looks natural and builds a little bit for a deeper pay off.
But in the end the color payoff didn’t sell or settle me and I was disappointed with the formula on a whole due to the harder texture. Once in place the product also felt a tad waxy and heavy on my lips.
Boo on this one!
If you’ve seen it online or on E-bay it’s not really worth the hassle of dealing with airmail, jacked up prices, etc…because there really wasn’t anything special or unique about the formula and it proved as bad as other products I’ve tried like it.
When is someone going to create one of these with a great formula?
