L’Oreal Project Runway Blush Review, Swatches, Photos
I’ll be the first one to admit I spend alot of my drugstore makeup life with my nose up in the air. I used to be very snotty about what kind of brands I purchased but as Musings grew so did I and I now embrace alot more drugstore makeup however it doesn’t mean that I don’t nitpick most of it apart and find flaw in almost all of it. Sometimes, you do get what you pay for.
On the upside….sometimes you score such a great deal you wanna share it with the world. I happen to be blessed enough to have the ability to share it with a few thousand people a day here on my site when I really like something. The same people who share my love of makeup. I can’t tell you how fun that is.
My recent great deal?
The new L’Oreal Project Runway Blushes. Wow, these are awesome.
L’Oreal teamed up with Project Runway to create an entire color collection made up of four separate color schemes that include products for eyes, lips, and face. That collection also include four shades of L’Oreal Project Runway Blushes which are $9.99 each.
Ok, bet I know your first thoughts….”OMG $9.99 for a blush that you can buy at the drugstore, you crazy bish!” True. That was my first thoughts as well. I just can’t really get on board with paying $10 (or in some cases I even seen these blushes as high as $12.99 depending where you buy them) for a drugstore blush because I just think to myself that I can tack on a few extra dollars and go with a higher end brand.
However…
These have quality backing them up and they are a whooping 0.35 oz. That’s like three times your normal high end blush size.
Believe it or not the packaging is quite nice. These come housed in a slim line black case with a clear face plate, no mirror sadly. They are square, slim, and store easily although for travel you’ll want to be careful with them (also on hard floors as they will crack if you drop them). I don’t get a cheap vibe from them and I actually like the overall look and feel of the compact.
The blush itself is a little bit of a heavyweight as it has a certain velvety feel and finish but no worries once blended out it creates a nice, lightweight finish. I like the blush formula because they aren’t easily overdone and build easily. The colors I choose are both warmer, richer shades that give me a flush of elegant color. I don’t have enough shades like this in my collection as these are more classic shades that give me a more womanly look versus the childish, more youthful pink-ish cheeks I prefer. They have a good, solid wear time on me and I can easily get through the day without a touch up although freshening up prior to leaving work for the day and heading into your evening out is recommended as I do see some fading as the night progresses. It’s difficult for me to personally find a blush that I can’t over do since I’m heavy handed but these apply beautifully no matter how much I put on or how heavy I am during application.
The colors I decided on were Charming Cockatoo which is a warm, dusky peach and Waterful Owl which is a dusky, brown based rose. As I mentioned above I thought the shades were both very mature and elegant and produced a sophisticated finish to my makeup.
Overall, these have both value and quality backing them and they are some of the better blushes I’ve come across at the drugstore.
Likey alot.
Well worth picking up.
