Miss Piggy for MAC Review, Swatches, Photos
I grew up with the Muppets, Fraggle Rock, the Dark Crystal, Labyrinth….needless to say Henson was a big part of my childhood and heck, till this day, all these shows and movies are on my rewatch list. The man was a genius.
I admit though I’m not really looking forward to the new Muppet Movie as when Jim Henson died he definitely took some of the magic of these puppets with him and they aren’t nearly as amazing as they once were. But I’m keeping hope alive that the new film will knock my socks off.
When I heard Miss Piggy would be getting her very own MAC Collection I was ecstatic. Visions of Dame Edna-like palettes danced through my head and I was thinking of an outrageous (btw would wouldn’t a Jem collection rock?) color story.
Flash forward to the actual details and Miss Piggy for MAC in reality isn’t quite what I expected.
Jump!
I appreciate MAC for bringing together my two greatest loves, the amazing diva that is Missy Piggy and my favorite makeup brand, together, two greats.
MAC did some nice work with the promo imagery behind this and they really captured Piggy’s essence. However, the fact that the collection is limited to three pieces and the packaging lacks anything special (just standard black MAC packaging) and you might experience some disappointment.
So what exactly do you get?
- MAC Eyeshadow in Missy Piggy Pink
- MAC Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack
- MAC Lashes in 36
With the above you can definitely get a vibe for Piggy’s signature look as she was one for pink shadow and a winged eye look plus a full fringe of lashes but it doesn’t help my shoulders slumping and a soft sigh of sadness to leave my lips…why can’t we have more? Blush? A beauty powder? Pink compacts?
On the upside, I stink at liqud lining but the precise, felt tipped point of the Penultimate Eye Liner will make lining eyes super easy. And the full lashes will give a dramatic look to your eyes….
But I admit the hard texture of the mid-tone blue pink that is Missy Piggy Pink is a disappointing formula. The shade has the potential but the formula is oddly hard. MAC deems it a frost but it feels more like a matte and I seriously had to dig deep for the swatch you see here as it simply didn’t want to pick color up for me.
Thanks MAC for gifting us with Miss Piggy makeup but don’t be upset that I’m a little saddened you didn’t put more work into this one guys….
